Re: Big Apple Redemption: NY Knicks Player Lock MyLeague

I'm having issues with the dynasty table generators. I keep getting a "Warning: mysql_connect() message. I'm not sure what it means or how to fix it. Guess I'll use actual screenshots in the meantime.

If anyone knows of a fix or what the issue is, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Sixers Edge Knicks to Reach Finals

Kevin Durant scored 31 points as the 76ers outlasted the Knicks in a classic seven game series to reach the NBA Finals.

Philadelphia, PA (AP) -- The New York Knicks were no strangers to game sevens. After all, each of their first two series against the Raptors and Pacers went seven games. And, for the first time in NBA history, the Knicks became the first team to take a series the distance in each of the first three rounds.

The fact that the Knicks had gotten this far -- one win away from the NBA Finals -- was a huge surprise to many. A team that finished 46-36 in the regular season isn't supposed to unseat two 50+ win teams and a 60+ win team. However, midway through the fourth quarter, Jelani Birch drove strong to his right, blew past Joel Embiid, and slammed home a bucket that gave the Knicks a one opint lead after trailing by as many as 14 in the second half. Maybe the 2019-2020 Knicks, much like the 1998-1999 Knicks, were a team of destiny. That year, the Knicks finished 27-23 (45 win pace in an 82 game season) and in 8th place in the East in a lockout shortened season. Led by Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, Larry Johnson, and a 36 year old Patrick Ewing, the Knicks managed to shock the NBA world by reaching the NBA Finals as an 8-seed before losing to the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals in five games.

So, maybe, 21 years later, destiny was, well, destined to repeat itself. After Birch's driving dunk with 6:08 remaining in the fourth quarter put the Knicks on top by one, both teams traded buckets for the next three minutes. After a Kristaps Porzingis old-fashioned three point play put the Knicks up by two, the Knicks managed to get a stop and Jelani Birch did the rest. Taking the outlet pass from Mitchell Robinson up the right win, Birch drove hard to the bucket, Euro-stepped his way past Embiid, and emphatically finished with a one-handed flush to put the Knicks ahead by four, 102-98, with 3:21 remaining.

After a Dario Saric 12-footer cut the Knicks lead to two, Birch drove to the bucket and drew a foul. After making both free-throws, the Knicks pushed their lead back out to four. On the 76ers next possession, Kevin Knox poked the ball loose from Kevin Durant, corralled the loose ball, and finished the breakaway with a two-handed dunk to put the Knicks ahead 106-100 with 2:41 remaining. The 76ers quickly responded with four straight points to cut the lead to two. Birch briefly quietened the home crowd by nailing a pull-up jumper, but Kevin Durant found a trailing Dario Saric on the wing who calmly hit a three to make it a 108-107 game with 1:53 left on the clock.

The Knicks responded, however, as Birch hit a rolling Mitchell Robinson who flushed home a bucket to put the Knicks ahead by three. The Sixers wouldn't go away. On their next possession, Robert Covington used an Embiid ball screen to spring free and knocked home a three-pointer to tie the game with 1:28 remaining. After Porzingis missed a driving layup on the Knicks next possession, Embiid found Covington streaking down the right wing, and Covington hit another three to put the 76ers ahead by three. Momentum was firmly in Philadelphia's corner.

Birch kept the Knicks alive with a quick driving layup to cut their deficit to one with 42.5 seconds left on the clock. However, Kevin Durant managed to spring free on a down screen and hit what appeared to be a game and series clinching three pointer to give his team a four point advantage. The Knicks came up empty on their next possession, and Joel Embiid drained two free throws to officially punch the 76ers ticket to the NBA Finals. The Knicks Cinderella season was over.

A classic seven game series between two division rivals ended in disappointment for Jelani Birch and the New York Knicks. Meanwhile, Kevin Durant, who scored 31 points, showed that he didn't need the mega-powered supporting cast of the Golden State Warriors to reach the NBA Finals.

Jelani Birch capped off a brilliant playoff run with 32 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. In the Knicks 21 playoff games, Birch averaged an astonishing 35.1 PPG, 10.1 RPG, and 8.8 APG while shooting 57.3% from the field. Although the Knicks season ended in disappointing fashion, the future is bright with Birch and Porzingis (20.9 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 2.4 APG, 2.1 BPG for the playoffs) in tow for the foreseeable future.

Thunder Hand Knicks Third Straight Loss, 119-117

Russell Westbrook stuffed the stat sheet with 34 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists as the Thunder defeated the Knicks 119-117.

Oklahoma City, OK -- The scheduling gods were not kind to the New York Knicks to begin the 2020-2021 season. After two home games to start the season, the Knicks were sent out west for a six game road trip. Tired and weary, the Knicks traveled to Oklahoma City to face the defending NBA champion Thunder in hopes of avoiding a third straight loss.

Things looked grim midway into the fourth quarter as the Knicks trailed by 13 after Russel Westbrook drained a contested 28-foot three-pointer to beat the shot clock. Improbably, the Knicks found a second, or maybe even third, wind and rallied to force overtime.

Overtime was not kind to the road weary Knicks. Oklahoma City outscored New York 14-5 in the first three minutes of the period and appeared to seal the door shut on the Knicks hopes of salvaging one last win on their road trip.

But the Knicks found one last gasp of breath and rattled off an 8-0 run to pull within one with 20 seconds left on the clock. That was as close as they would get, though, after Russell Westbrook made a pair of free throws and Jelani Birch missed a driving layup. So, as it was meant to be, the Knicks ended their road trip with a three game losing streak and stand at 4-4 eight games into the season.

New York Knicks (4-4) at Oklahoma City Thunder (7-2)
