Which team should I be for my league I post on here ?

Last year I did a deep franchise posting of the 76ers (see link in my sig) and I plan on doing the same thing this year. I have spent a lot of time thinking about who I should use I have it narrowed down to 3 teams all of which would be fun for me. The format and the way I post will be the same as last year with the one bummer being the lack of players shown on most roster screens. I will likely wait a few weeks before I start posting it to find the right set of sliders and settings. I wanted to go ahead and get this up as I pass the time. I would love to hear any kind of feedback on what team you think would be the most or least fun to follow along with.

    Core * Players Building Around
    Lebron James – 98 ovr
    Brandon Ingram – 82 ovr, A Pot
Lonzo Ball – 79 ovr, B Pot (not sure if he should be considered * or role player)

    Role Players
    Josh Hart – 76 ovr, A- Pot, A- 3PT
    Kuzma – 80 ovr, A Pot

    Short & Long Term Plan
This team is pretty set just add one star * in FA and the team is set both short and long term. Then after you have the other star you can lock up the young guys long term.

    3 Major Storylines
    Lebron’s 1st year in LA
What can be done to get them past the Warriors ?
What FA do you target with the 34 million in cap space this summer?

    Comments / Questions / Concerns
The old school OCD position thing in me would go crazy with Lebron, Kuzma, Ingram and then say Kawai all at SF. I don’t think I could handle that lol

They need a starting C and some depth at PF/C so if the FA is a wing how do you fill those holes ?

This would give me a easy ending spot and I could cut it off when Lebron retires allowing me to do another dynasty after this one.

I'm sure other Lakers dynasty's will come up on here so it might be a little cliché to use them of course I did use the 76ers last year lol

I don't think I've ever done a deep dive with Lebron in a video game in 2k and its the Lakers so the stories write themselves. I have always cheered on the Lakers as a kid since my dad was a fan of Magic.

    Core * Players Building Around
    Doncic - 79 ovr, B+ Pot
    Dennis Smith – 78 ovr, B+ Pot

    Role Players
    Harrison Barnes – 82 ovr
    Deandre Jordan – 86 ovr

    Short Term Plan
Make the playoffs year 1 and run the offense through Smith and Doncic

    Long Term Plan
Sign a big name FA to team up with Smith and Doncic or resign Jordan to a longer term contract if he works out this year. I think a C would make the most sense so someone like Cousins if he stays healthy.

    3 Major Storylines
Can Doncic live up to the high expectations?

What needs to be done to get past the Warriors and Lakers going forward ?

If your not in the playoffs race at the deadline do you trade Barnes and maybe get a 1st round pick back ? Do you take on a bad contract by trading the expiring deal of Matthews ?

    Comments / Questions / Concerns
No 1st round pick this year, which is top 5, protected

Do you give Deandre Jordan a long-term deal? If so what's the contract like?

Need to find a way to move Powell’s 10 million $ contract for next year.

I think they would be a fun team that might get overlooked in rebuilds that has some young guys that can be stars, proven vets and a city I can realistically sign a big name FA.

    Core * Players Building Around
    Trae Young – 77 ovr, B Pot, A 3PT

    Role Players
    John Collins – 79 ovr, B Pot
    Tauren Prince – 79 ovr, B Pot
    Kevin Huerter – 71 ovr, C+ Pot, B+ 3PT

    Short Term Plan
Tank for two years taking on bad contracts and getting even more 1st round draft picks. Baz, Lin, Deadman and Plumlee are all guys who likely would be traded for players on worse contracts.

    Long Term Plan
In year 3 develop Trae Young to become a all star level player and find 2 more players in the draft with star upside to make the hawks big 3. When year 3 hits you should have all the young talent still on rookie deals and all the bad salaries off the books.

    3 Major Storylines
Will the Hawks regret trading Doncic for Young?

Will the Cavs finish outside the top 10 for the next 2 years giving their 1st round pick to the Hawks? Where will the Mavs pick land, which is top 5 protected?

What do the Hawks do with all the 1st round draft picks this year and in years going forward?

    Comments / Questions / Concerns
I hated the Young pick in real life (im a hawks fan) so its not a 100% lock I would keep him. I do think he will be a fun player to use in 2K with his 3 point shooting. I might end up trading him a few years down the road if I cant produce with him.

Atlanta isnt a place for FA so I don’t know what to realistically do with all the cap space in a few years

I would likely make at least 1 trade early on before the season even starts like Baz, Lin or Deadman.

In some tests i've done 2k sim engine seems to like the Hawks more then it should

They are basically a blank slate similar to the 76ers last year just without the star players. I think they are quietly a fun team to use and they are who I am leaning toward.

    Others
A few other teams I thought about was Knicks or Bucks if you have a team you would like to hard sell me on go ahead.

Your dynasty with the 76ers (NBA 2K18) was pure dope. I love that you will post another dynasty with the new game out.
From the three mentioned teams I would like to see the Hawks with their draft picks. If you use real draft classes like you die before I‘m very thrilled which prospects do you eyeing.

But as Buck fan (or more a Giannis fan) I would love to see Thema in your dynasty. Both of these two teams were my favorites but in the end it only matters that you will post a dynasty whatever team it will be.

    Keep up your excellent write-ups.

Gonna vote the Hawks -- feel like they have a serious treasure chest of assets you'll be able to parlay into improvement for the team and that being in the East (where things are much less difficult) it'll allow you to grow the team without getting too down with losses.

The West will be brutal -- I feel like the Lakers are going to get a lot of love and we'll see a dynasty with them.

And I'm actually working on a Mavs one, so I couldn't vote for that, lol.

As an alternative, I would suggest the Heat (very challenging since they're cap-locked and don't have as many assets thanks to the Dragic trade) or the Nuggets (Michael Porter Junior and Jokic -- plus their new unis are nice and they have some of the best throwbacks in the game).
      Any comments are welcome.

Thanks for the kinds words the 2 months I took off to rest has definitely worked so I’m excited to dig into another long rebuild. I will definitely be using real draft classes and that’s one of the main reasons I’m gonna wait a little longer as I haven’t got to check out what draft classes are good yet. Using the real draft classes helps me get to know the players when they get to college. Giannis would be a blast to use just me having to spell his name so much would be a pain lol. If I do go with the hawks I would prob focus on the draft a lot year 1 since I will be losing a lot of games.

It looks like the hawks are the leader in the club house so far especially with you doing a mavs one. I agree I think several with the lakers will pop up on here. The heat rebuild would be prob the most challenging in the NBA with their cap even with 2k loving Whiteside. Nuggets would be a interesting team in the few sim seasons I done they could miss the playoffs year 1. I think the hawks would be a blast especially with them being the Hometown team and fits my skill level or lack of it well lol

I have a MyLeague right now with the Knicks. My first game was against the Hawks and Rayson Trae Young dropped 44 on me going 7/7 from the three point line.

Hawks are bad, but have some intriguing players and who are young. Although if you want to run the gauntlet then it would be the Mavs in the West.

The Lakers to me are somewhat similar to the 76ers last season. Well, not roster make up wise but a team that's just a player or two from being a serious championship contender.

Atlanta is pretty much a mess. They have Trae and a couple of decent role players but they're a long way from being playoff much less championship contenders.

Dallas is in between. They actually have some really nice pieces but the West is just so strong that they're likely to get lost in the shuffle in the first season or two. Doncic and Smith look like they could be two franchise cornerstones so the may be future bright in Big D.

I'm going with the Hawks though because a) they're your team in real life and I know how happy you were when they drafted Young in real life so you have to use him in his rookie year and b) as a personal preference, I enjoy watching my fellow Dynasty compadres in struggle town for a season or two. Besides it's going to be that much sweeter if you do take home a 'ship.

Oh wow the CPU may be better with Young then I expected that's a heck of a debut. The one test I ran he made the all star in year 2 so it sounds like he could be OP despite limited Potential now.

The mavs are intriguing one bad thing I thought about using them is since I do 30 team control is the Warriors roster going forward. If Klay, Durant or Cousins leave in FA that makes the Warriors easier to beat down the line. If I resign everyone to big deals that would put them in major luxury tax which might not be realistic either. I have yet to use the Hawks in a game so I am not sure how Price or Collins plays.

Gosh I am still furious over the drafting of Young all these months later maybe playing with him in 2k will help soften my pure hatred of the pick. I will give everyone a spoiler if I pick the Hawks my first take is firing the GM regardless of what his ratings are as that guy is beyond horrible lol

It took me what 7 years to win a title with the 76ers so it would be a few years into it before I would even have a chance of making the playoffs and winning anything. The one full game I played this year I won easy so maybe my skill level has improved however I was using the all time lakers so i'm not sure that even counts lol

I know what you mean about the Lakers as its to easy of a rebuild and team to use.

Was torn between the Mavs and the Hawks, but seeing how Trae Young is destroying everybody in my save, I honestly think he might be a super-fun option to build around.

Ok its official the Hawks are who I will be using in 2k19 on here. I am going try and hold off on starting for a week or two as I have to get the sliders/settings/ draft class etc right however I'm not sure if I will be able to wait much longer. I might go ahead and get the thread started closer to the weekend and run some more test over the next few days.

The cool thing about building around Trae is that even if he puts up the monster stats on offense his defense will be limited. It will be a challenge to find the defense pieces around him as he isn't a complete player.

Re: Which team should I be for my league I post on here ?

So in some test sims i have ran into a annoying issue and that is the 2k sim engine is in love with hawks. I have yet to see the hawks fail to make the playoffs in year 1.

In this test I traded baz before the season started for lower ranked players. I traded lin, Deadmon and Carter around the deadline and still not only made the playoffs won a series. I let the cpu handle the offseason so no big FA was added and the mavs pick ended up 7th. So I have Solomon hill and Alex Len are in the starting lineup and it’s 57 wins and the 2nd seed. Not only did the hawks make the playoffs with that squad went all the way to the finals and took the rockets to 5 games.

The other is that young is putting up unrealistic stats and he atleast an A in inside scoring, mid range, 3 and playmaking. I didn’t send him to camps and Lin only mentored him for half a year (9 badges now).

                      Rookie year - 24.8 ppg, 45 FG%, 37 3%, 4.8 ast
                      2nd year - 28.9 ppg, 46 FG%, 42%5.9 ast

I don’t like the ideal of lowering Young’s rating since I’m going to do that for anyone else really, but those stats are just Insane. I will look at making some other moves earlier in the year or bumping up teammate chemistry or something.

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts

In this test I traded baz before the season started for lower ranked players. I traded lin, Deadmon and Carter around the deadline and still not only made the playoffs won a series. I let the cpu handle the offseason so no big FA was added and the mavs pick ended up 7th. So I have Solomon hill and Alex Len are in the starting lineup and it’s 57 wins and the 2nd seed. Man, in year 1? I've seen them do it in Year 2, but I've not seen them go the distance in Year 1.

Hmm. Well, if you won't want playoffs in Year 1, your best bet is to trade every veteran you have prior to the season and start nothing but young guys -- trading all those guys should tank your team chemistry and that will aid in preventing too many wins.

Also -- and this might be a radical thought -- but you could trade Trae Young for something/someone to really forge your own path.

If that's too extreme, there's a "Force non-starter" option you could flip to yes (for One season) to make sure Young doesn't start, and you could do this with other guys to make sure your worst players start.

The obvious answer was setting right in front of me bump up the sim game difficulty. I’m still running test to find the right number that’s definitely going to do the trick. I might also bump up the chemistry effects a bit also. Looks like young is gonna to score 20 + regardless unless I set him under 30 min
