who do you choose in NBA DRAFT 2022 ??

So many decisions to be made with this team for sure.

I know it’s only one game but I really enjoy playing with SGA due to his handling and size. I don’t even know how to do any dribble moves or know his jumper yet but I was able to score with him. That alone makes him a keeper haha!

Josh Giddey could end up being a classic good basketball player who’s skills don’t really translate into video game success. The AI had Kenrich Williams playing backup PG, so either I need to start manually subbing or move Giddey to the bench and have him bring the primary ball handler for the second unit.

We are a long ways away from the draft but if my stick skills in this first game showed anything, we will definitely have the worst record in the league. That’s no guarantee we land in the top-3 but we need all the hall we can get. I would be very intrigued with a Chet Holmgren/Victor Wembanyama front court, but even I would ruin their careers.

    ————————————

With the first game write up this morning, I couldn’t help but think to myself “why the hell did I choose a screenshot of a random dunk by OG instead of one of the many triples from FVV or Trent?”

Thanks! Having fun making up some of the graphics for this franchise. Been a while since I've done a pro sports writeup.

Besides the team being devoid of talent, the challenge will be trying to learn how to play the game and play it at a respectable level. I'm so upset with the beat down from yesterday that I'm watching dribbling tutorials and offensive help videos on YouTube at work to try to be somewhat competitive.

I absolutely have been doing the same thing for my NBA 2K20 teams. The game is so different from NBA 2K16, let alone CHoops 2K8, that the skills are different.

I also tried a ton of different sliders to make the game feel better, so may be worth tinkering with as well. Play games with other teams just to test out sliders and get used to other player types.

Problem is my gaming time is already limited as is so I don’t have time to play games with other teams or test sliders so it’s going to be a learn as I go type of deal. As I progress through this franchise I’ll make tweaks to the sliders as needed.

Not wanting a good season is precisely why I chose the Thunder. I’m going to be bad so why not play as a team that is supposed to be bad?

Young and Atlanta Bigs Turn OKC into Lob City

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander started the game by being aggressive and abusing Trae Young on defense and getting him into foul trouble early.

Isaiah Roby doing a chin-up on the rim after a nice feed from rookie guard Josh Giddey.

Trae Young, the most lethal shooter in the Eastern Conference, finds himself knocking down a practice three-pointer as the Thunder defense struggled all game long.

Young starts going hardwood magician as he weaved through traffic and started finding cutters that were wide open for easy finishes in the paint.

A rare miss by the Hawks was snatched out of the air by Onyeka Okongwu for a ferocious putback dunk.

Another highlight dunk for SGA as he challenges John Collins at the rim and finishes with his off hand.

Sad Poku is sad as the Hawks came out and blew the game open in the 3rd quarter as they outscored the Thunder 46-18 in that period alone.

Re: Thunder Up! Rebuild in OKC [NBA 2k22]

Two major issues I had with this game:

                1) I decided to "Sim to End" with about 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter...and the sim engine thought it was realistic to have 102 total points scored in a 10 minute period. WTF?!? Guess that means I will not be simulating from here on out. Definitely going to skew the stats justtttt a tad.

                2) What is up with the shot feedback in this game? I went into practice mode this morning and decided I would shut off the shot meter to get a tiny boost on my jumpers but once halftime came and went the shot feedback didn't work anymore. Didn't matter what I did: turn it off and back on, change it to just jumpers, jumpers and layups, etc. it just never came back.

Any insight on any of the above issues would be gladly appreciated!

                  Murray, Spurs Bully SGA, Thunder

Keldon Johnson drills a deep three and let’s it hang as he stares down the fans at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Playing his best game of the young season, Aleksej Pokusevski didn’t give up after getting beat on the perimeter. The lanky Serbian saw Keita Bates-Diop get by him but subsequently chased him down and swatted the layup attempt off the glass.

One of the few easy buckets he got all night long, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander got a screen from the elbow and turned the corner into the paint for a strong two-handed dunk as Josh Richardson half-heartedly attempts to jump with him.

Ugly start in OKC... Shai is a monster though. Long road ahead, but it's a long season, so plenty of time to figure things out.

Ugly does not even begin to describe what this start is in OKC lol. I think I need to start running offensive plays rather than just trying to go P&R all the time. I’m so bad with isolation moves that I need to get away from them. I also need to learn my guys’ shots too. Quite a few shots in this last game I was slightly early that I thought still had a good chance to go down. Once I get them down a bit better things will improve. I also realized I had shot timing ok for layups the entire first half and was just holding down the shot stick for far too long and kept getting late releases. We easily missed 10 easy layups in that first half that could have changed the game.

If you have any tips on how best to utilize Shai, I'm all ears!

Ja Morant and Visiting Grizz Catch Bodies in Oklahoma City

In a showcase of two of the premiere young point guards in the league, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a different look during pre-game where you just knew he was out to prove his standing in the league.

Stops on defense early in the game led to easy transition buckets for the Thunder as Luguentz Dort was able to get out in front of Memphis for a flush on the break.

Moments later Lu Dort returned the favor as he was able to hit Darius Bazley on the wing for an uncontested dunk. For the first time all season, the Thunder were not only in the game but showing some serious fight.

SGA drilled a turn-around jumper just outside the paint over Ja. The two dueled all night long. The Thunder point guard finished with better numbers (24 pts, 4 reb, 12 ast compared to 19, 7 and 10) but Morant would get the last laugh as his team left with the win.

Dort had the unenviable task of chasing Ja around all game long and a couple times he broke free and gave the fans a highlight reel finish.

Not a bad game or outcome all things considered. Good to see a closer game and scores around 100.

While laying around in quarantine/isolation last night from my family, I was watching a bunch of YouTube videos on running offense. Was hugely helpful! Went into practice mode this morning, ran a bunch of plays to get a hang of it, how to call them, etc. and it was incredibly helpful this morning in this game.

In all honesty, the bench blew the game in the 3rd quarter. Our starters were gassed and we had an all-bench lineup in the game that just could not generate any offense. I'll have to start playing around with staggering the substitutions better to avoid those types of lineups.

Of our 86 points scored off the FT line, 12 of them were the result of threes. I would imagine of the other 74, 60+ were in the paint because I'm so bad at generating open looks in the mid range. It felt cheesy to me to be scoring so much in the paint/at the rim, but regardless we still didn't win.

Andre Drummond was active early whether it was dominating the glass or protecting the rim with this block on Derrick Favors.

With so much attention paid to Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving was able to spot up and knock down an open triple.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to battle through a disappointing season while continuing to put up impressive performances on a nightly basis.

Young Darius Bazley got caught ball watching, allowing Kevin Durant to hit him with a backdoor cut for an easy slam.

Ben Simmons not only had a game-high nine assists but was aggressive on offense as well. On this drive, he easily blew by Aleksej Pokusevski, avoided the challenge from behind and finished with authority.
