Good win. Indiana is not a bad team. Cool to see your team growing, and you weren't terribly outrebounded.
Haha no it's not Terry McLaurin, but I figured with the game taking place in late February let's look up celebrities from Indianapolis and he was one of them that popped up so I figured why not roll with it lol.

Definitely a solid win for us but I'm getting the sense that the sliders may be starting to get a bit too easy for me now that I'm getting the hang of playing.

Giddey Dominates Matchup Against Green as Thunder Win Two Straight!

Prior to the game 2kSports.com released its newest rookie leaderboard on the season and it featured the Thunder’s own Josh Giddey - 6th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft - at the #2 spot, trailing only top overall pick Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons. Most players would be satisfied with that ranking, especially with his opponent tonight Jalen Green - the 2nd pick in the 2021 NBA Draft - being ranked just 8th on the rookie leaderboard.

The cool, calm and collected Giddey wasn’t. While he respects the skills and talents of the players taken above him in the draft, he viewed Jalen Green as far and away a lesser prospect than himself. Scottie Barnes, Evan Mobley and even Jalen Suggs you could squint and see why a team took those players before Giddey. But Jalen Green?!? An inefficient combo guard that looks to score first and score second…and then score again? Giddey just couldn’t see it.

Ever since draft day, Josh Giddey made it a mission that he would dominate this matchup any time they were on the court together. He was pissed that Jalen Green went 2nd overall…

Tell me if you have heard this before this season: the Thunder got torched by an opposing big man. That’s exactly what happened again tonight as Christian Wood (28 pts, 18 reb, 2 stl) was nearly perfect from the floor, connecting on 12 of 14 field goals including this alley-oop with his off hand in traffic.

Finally back and healthy, John Wall (12 pts, 3 reb, 13 ast, 1 stl) was in attack mode early as he was able to draw two quick fouls on Derrick Favors (12 pts, 9 reb, 1 stl) by getting him in the pick-and-roll and attacking him off the bounce.

The Houston Rockets, prior to the trade deadline, moved Eric Gordon for Duncan Robinson (2 pts, 2 reb, 2 ast). The former Miami Heat sharpshooter saw 13 minutes of floor time against the Thunder and whenever the human traffic cone was on the floor, OKC was sure to attack him. The slow-footed wing was tasked with trying to stay in front of Lu Dort (9 pts, 2 reb, 7 ast, 1 stl). Dort got just a shoulder past him and snuck this layup up off the glass before Robinson could contest for an easy deuce.

With Favors in foul trouble early, Isaiah Roby (6 pts, 6 reb, 1 stl, 3 blk) saw some extended minutes in the 1st half and made it worthwhile as he rejected Kenyon Martin Jr. (6 pts, 1 stl, 1 blk) at the rim for one of his three blocks on the game. His energy was also found on the glass as he grabbed six boards including three of the offensive variety.

Also seeing extended minutes was Aleksej Pokusevski (13 pts, 10 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk) who played his best game of the season by being super aggressive on both ends of the floor, including dropping Jae’Sean Tate (13 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast) on this drive before finger rolling it in from seemingly 9-feet away from the rim. His improved play as of late is about to see him usurp some of Isaiah Roby’s minutes off the bench and perhaps going with a Poku/Darius Bazley (8 pts, 9 reb, 1 stl, 2 blk) front line.

After finally realizing that he was not only in a professional NBA game but a one-on-one battle with Josh Giddey (23 pts, 7 reb, 5 ast), Rocket rookie Jalen Green (9 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk) started to look for his own offense and got his one and only three-pointer to fall, making sure to celebrate one of the few makes he had on the night.

John Wall, while healthy, is clearly not his old self as he hit on just four of 18 shots on the night. It was clear that he doesn’t have the same explosion or lift that he used to have as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (21 pts, 4 reb, 9 ast, 1 stl, 2 blk) easily stuffs him on this dunk attempt. Is SGA becoming the player that the Wizards - and now the Rockets - always wanted Wall to be?

Locked in from start to finish, Giddey attacked any defender that the Rockets put on him. After picking on Jalen Green most of the game, Kevin Porter Jr. (2 reb, 1 blk) got his chance and saw the 2nd rated rookie to get by him on a strong, aggressive drive and finish with both hands. The players on the team have never seen so much emotion from Josh Giddey all season long, even on plane rides between games when having fun and joking around, so they knew he was all business tonight.

One part of Wall’s game that he never developed was a reliable jump shot, especially from three-point range. Lately, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been hitting that shot with great efficiency and his confidence is at an all-time high. After rookie Alperen Sengun (4 pts, 7 reb, 1 blk) was slow to close out, SGA let a triple from the top of the key fly. Before the ball even reached the rim, he was celebrating the make knowing that this was finding nothing but the bottom of the net.

While the game wasn’t all that close down the stretch, or ever really in doubt, this triple from the corner by Christian Wood with 30 seconds left cut the Thunder lead down to just three points. A stop on the other end would give the Rockets a chance to tie it up for overtime. On the ensuing possession, SGA drained the clock down to about eight seconds before having Favors play the screen-and-roll game with him with the combo guard finding the agile center for a slick layup and the 5-point win.

        Unbelievable. Two straight wins!

It seems like you are getting more comfortable with Giddey as well.

Unbelievable is right! I don’t know if it’s bad competition or what but I feel it’s beginning to get a tad too easy for me right now especially with a team that lacks talent. But then again, us and the Rockets are 2 of the 3 worst teams in the league so maybe I’m overreacting. I’ll play the entire season on these sliders and adjust for next season.

I’m starting to really use Josh Giddey and his size to pick on smaller guards. It has been incredibly helpful generating easy buckets.

Randle, Knicks Drop the Thunder in MSG

Coming off being named the Western Conference Player of the Month, averaging 33.3 points on nearly 60% shooting from the floor, SGA took to Madison Square Garden to not only continue his hot play but continue the team’s winning streak.

It looked like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (32 pts, 3 reb, 8 ast, 1 stl, 2 blk) had it going early with 12 points in the first quarter including this thunderous dunk through Derrick Rose (17 pts, 4 reb, 7 ast, 2 stl), paying no mind to defensive anchor Mitchell Robinson (16 pts, 15 reb, 4 blk).

Looking to finally get his opportunity to shine, Cam Reddish (10 pts, 4 reb, 3 stl, 1 blk) finds himself in the Knicks’ starting lineup and playing well. Being tracked by Lu Dort (14 pts, 3 ast), Reddish pump fakes on a three-pointer that Dort ran out on and calmly nails a mid-range one dribble pull up with the shot clock winding down.

SGA continues to show skills on the defensive side of the ball as he swats Kemba Walker’s (6 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast) layup attempt. With his recent shot-blocking prowess, it is being said that GIlgeous-Alexander could be the best shot-blocking guard since Dwyane Wade’s prime.

Reddish showed off his athleticism as an inside-out scorer as he gets to the rim past Josh Giddey (12 pts, 4 reb, 6 ast, 1 stl, 2 blk) and finishes strong through traffic.

Playing the side pick-and-roll game with Darius Bazley (8 pts, 10 reb, 1 stl, 4 blk), Giddey was able to get baseline, see over the top of Derrick Rose and find Bazley for the easy flush in the lane.

Lacking the explosion of his younger years, Rose has had to develop a jumper. He still is able to create some serious separation as he loses Lu Dort on this stepback and knocks down an 18-footer with ease.

The lights weren’t too bright for Giddey in his first trip to NYC as he lost Evan Fournier (5 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast) through traffic, received a pass from Shai and knocked down the mid-range J fading away from the hoop.

Lu Dort shows off his finishing ability in the lane as he extends the ball out wide to avoid getting blocked by Julius Randle (16 pts, 15 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl) and kisses it off the glass for the pretty finish.

Giddey’s lack of lateral quickness gets exposed yet again as he allows another blow by dunk, this time by Isaiah Quickley (13 pts, 3 ast, 1 stl) for the highlight dunk that brought the MSG crowd to their feet.

Capping off an incredible performance, Mitchell Robinson ascends to seemingly the rafters to reject this Lu Dort floater attempt, sending it into the stands for an emphatic block.

Re: Thunder Up! Rebuild in OKC [NBA 2k22]

Wanted to check in here and leave my thoughts:

Ohh, a Thunder franchise! 29-game schedule is something I’ve never done, that’s gonna be fun to see if you (or even the sim teams) can accomplish the “perfect” season. Love the cartoon/drawing header, that’s a really cool style. Pulling for former Florida Gator Tre Mann.

Tough opening loss to the Raptors, but they still got some championship DNA from the Kawhi year. That Hawks loss was OUCH … a lot of OUCH. The Spurs loss was something from the stone ages. That game against Memphis was pretty damn close — team suffered in the 2nd/3rd quarter (bench woes is my guess), but I like that the team started and finished strong.

Tough loss against the Nets but I think we’re seeing the bench kill your team. Those 1st rounders you got might be useful in getting some legit bench guys or getting a new starter and sending the old one to the bench. Jazz loss seems more of the same — solid start lost by the bench and the team is too far back to dig it out in the fourth. Boston manhandled the Thunder in the second-half.

Another loss to the 76ers — that’s expected with the veteran star power on that team but man, the 2nd and 3rd quarters are killing you seemingly every game. But you got the win against the Hornets and are officially off the snide! Great job. SGA carried (and Tre Mann added in a nice 16 points).

Losses to Miami and Washington not ideal but, hey, you got a win now. Interesting trade for RJ Hampton — I like him as a player but I’m not sure another young body is gonna help this team much in the short term. Hopefully he gets some playtime and develops, but the Thunder have a lot of guard/wings on the roster (IIRC); more trades down the line perhaps.

Good win against Cleveland — Hampton with more assists and rebound than points (is he trying to pull a Rondo?).

Ohh, so close against PHX (who are not having a great year) — that OT loss is gonna sting. SGA continues to put up incredible performances but defense seems to be this young team lacks; understandable, that comes with experience.

Surprised at that Warriors trade — Draymond is Dray-gone from the Bay. Warriors selling him off for former 1st rounders that haven’t developed is a bit damning. A series of close losses after the ASB, but nice win against Indy — I like the balanced scoring on the stat sheet from the team, can’t have SGA carrying every night alone. Mann seems to be in a funk with that shooting performance, not sure what happened there.

Good win against Houston, tough loss to the Knicks — the 2nd quarter ended you early. I like that Giddey’s looking more and more comfortable as the season goes on.

And with that, I’m all caught up — tough first season so far but the offseason awaits soon and the Thunder should be looking to make some moves to shore up the defense. Looking forward to seeing what moves you make and whether you finish strong.

Really, really, REALLY appreciate you catching up. Thanks for the season recap as well as some of those first few games really opened up some old wounds lol.

The offseason is where we need to make our move. It starts with being very high in the lottery. It’s really looking like a 2-horse race between Holmgren and Banchero. If we can grab either guy, do we trade in more assets for a proven star to accelerate the rebuild? We would need to see who is available but Bradley Beal seems to be the target we may have our eyes on.

If you can get either Chet or Banchero, you've got a young big to develop and grow on your team. After that, I would look at trading some of the firsts (either in 22 or down the line) for some guys who can cover multiple holes on defense.

Beal is an idea, but I feel like OKC has enough offense at this point -- defense is where you're getting killed and Beal won't help there. Maybe swing a deal for Ben Simmons (he covers a lot of holes defensively, and offensively you don't need him as a primary option) or perhaps a DeAndre Hunter type -- a big wing who is versatile defensively and plays multiple positions on the roster. I feel like that's the missing piece for OKC.

Good point. I’ll also need to re-sign Lu Dort but think we could upgrade at that wing defender spot. Though he is good, he’s only like 6’3” so he is limited in how effective he can be in the defensive end.

Simmons could be a good shout alright. Plenty of assets to get that done too. You can really play downhill with him too. Alongside side Shai if you keep him, some shooters and you're golden!

Giddey's steady improvement over the season has definitely helped us be much more competitive as the season goes on. If we can get him to be a better defender and shooter, he's going to be a great piece going forward with Shai, our top pick and any veteran we swing and trade for. The offseason should be fun in OKC!

Poku, Thunder Roll Through the Windy City for Easy W

After two quick buckets - one mid-range jumper and one easy finish in the lane - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (47 pts, 6 reb, 9 ast, 1 blk) buries a triple, compliments to a lazy closeout by Lonzo Ball (8 pts, 6 ast, 1 stl). This effort on D was a microcosm of the Chicago defense on the night and the season as they are one of the worst in the league. After scoring the first seven points for the Thunder, it was obvious that SGA wasn’t going to let up on the Bulls tonight.

The quality play continued to roll for Josh Giddey (21 pts, 4 reb, 10 ast, 2 stl) and his growing confidence is evident as he takes Zach LaVine (34 pts, 3 reb, 7 ast, 1 blk) down to the block and hits a little lefty hook over the Bulls’ All-Star.

Seemingly having to do it all on his own on the offensive end, Zach LaVine was up to the task as he poured in 34 points including this triple after losing Lu Dort (8 pts, 5 reb, 5 ast) running off screens. While he led the team in scoring, he needed 33 shots to reach that scoring total.

The hoop and the harm as Dorian Finney-Smith (5 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl) gets put on a poster by Air Canada on this two-handed slam. Gilgeous-Alexader scored 16 of the team’s 31 points in the first quarter and looked unstoppable.

He doesn’t just score but he plays defense, too! Shai rises up to swat bench big man Tony Bradley (2 pts, 5 reb, 1 ast, 2 blk) weak layup attempt, smacking it off the glass to lead for yet another fast break opportunity.

LaVine didn’t just pour in buckets from the perimeter but showed off his world-class athleticism on this drive. As he got past Dort on the wing he finished with a sweet reverse jam that saw the Thunder’s best defender left in the dust and just watching the show like the rest of the crowd.

While Shai was putting in work, a lot of his success comes off of rookie guard Josh Giddey setting him up. While this mid-range fadeaway jumper over rookie Ayo Dosunmo (5 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast, 3 stl) looks easy for SGA, it was only possible because of the pure dime Giddey drops right into his hands on the move allowing the Thunder’s star to get open.

Not just satisfied with setting up his teammates, Giddey was aggressive with his own offense, especially attacking off the bounce. After being played for the pass time after time, Giddey takes this drive for himself and finishes with authority at the rim.

It was a show all night for those with a ticket as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wowed the crowd from the opening tip. On this drive, he drove baseline, got cut off by Lonzo Ball and finished with an acrobatic layup to create some separation. The Chicago lead guard was seen hanging his head after this finish, basically admitting defeat after realizing there was nothing he could do to slow Shai down tonight.

Josh Giddey continued to stay aggressive, especially when SGA is on the bench, and finds himself rising up for this three ball on the left wing. Typically, Giddey would drive this to the rack with the space he had but the trust he is starting to find in his jumper is going to open up much more scoring opportunities for him going forward.

Look at these Thunder. You might get 6+ wins this year and end up with Keegan Murray

There's clearly a style of play for this team and it's fun you've figured it out.
