Baffling to lose to two awful teams and beat Gonzaga, Michigan and Cincy. The record ends up about where it should, just odd how it got there.

For some reason, every time I take my summer break from this game and come back after not playing for 6-8 months, it feels way easier when I should be rusty. It makes no sense to me.

I coach youth sports (middle school aged) and the best practices every year, without fail, are after the kids have had Christmas break or some other 2+ week break. Something about the rest time allowing their brains to be fresher and maybe even "getting mental reps" means we're super sharp.

Given how many years of muscle memory you have in CHoops, I wonder if some of this is you just getting some time and space and coming back refreshed and more focused.
?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

?Ask me about the Xbox Ally handheld - I'm on the team that made it.

I've been hesitant to bump it up that last notch to the highest difficulty, but even going 22-11 with last year's bums was too easy. Recruiting is so easy on this game, it's hardly a challenge. It's making me want to start brand new.

          Tovarich: Good w....

Reporter: (interrupting) What's with the rumors about you retiring coach?

Tovarich: It's on my mind. I need a bigger challenge.

Reporter: But this school is finally winning!

Tovarich: And with the players I have gotten here so far, they'll keep winning. Even that clown O'Bannon won with my players at Western Kentucky like he's doing with my players now at Georgia. We'll see.

Is it because your charisma+scouting are at A+ level or so? I definitely feel the pain of recruiting with Dinko (C- charisma I think) and Oggy (B- I think) where I lose out on players all the time. If that's the case, maybe set limits on how high certain coaching attributes can get, or how high those attributes are in your assistants?

My charisma is at A+, but I think I'm way down at a C on scouting. I've not developed that and always relied on an assistant to be good at it. I have on assistant as A+ charisma also and one an A scout. I always go for one of each. I'm not sure it would matter. It's not as if I'm often in recruiting battles. I'm just on the best players who have no offers. There's always a bunch of high 3* players who have 3 or so big schools recruiting them all year and then they use their scholarships elsewhere and they all disappear and since I'm the only coach who's been recruiting them the entire year, I've basically got them locked up. Hollis was the 8th ranked C last year and everyone abandoned him the second the offseason hit and voila, Morehead State. Totally unrealistic, but the smaller schools go straight for nobody 1* and 2* who they can get when they could do better but never taking a chance on anyone and the big schools do better and there's too many good players who just fall through the cracks and are ripe for the taking because they were just plan B and C for a big school who didn't turn out to need them. There's something about centers specifically. The game really really doesn't bother with them. When I was at Georgia, and played a lot of ACC schools, most of them didn't have a C. I played Clemson the one time where their starting C was a SF I tried to recruit. They didn't have a PF on the roster either. Duke and Georgia Tech routinely had 9 guards out of their 12 players. So any decent center and I have a lot of easy scoring down low. They still can't usually rebound to save their lives, but that's another thing. I don't like having to arbitrarily make rules for myself to compensate for the game's shortcomings. I think it's silly if I have to purposely choose a useless assistant just because, but I still feel like recruiting would be too easy anyway. It's tough the first season because so many schools need extra players to make up for how short the default rosters can be on players, but after that I find it too easy. But I think it would be unrealistic to purposely make myself bad at recruiting too to compensate. Maybe bumping up the difficulty will just make the games harder and I'd at least settle for that, but I think I've run out of motivation being 36-14 with Morehead State.
