NBA Draft Lottery Results

The Utah Jazz cashed in on their 2024 trade with the New York Knicks, earning the No. 1 overall pick in the lottery reveal. In yet another New York Knicks blunder, the 2025-first round pick trade for Jordan Clarkson came back to haunt New York while helping a Jazz team fresh off 44 wins and a playoff berth a season ago.
The Jazz, who won 16 games in 2023-2024, have conducted a quick rebuild thanks to turning their plethora of picks in recent years turning into bonafide contributors (Anthony Black, Nick Smith Jr., and Matas Buzelis). They’ll be able to add to that core now that they are in line to pick guard A.J. Taylor out of North Carolina, the prohibitive favorite to be the No. 1 pick in this year’s class.
Aside from the Jazz, the Chicago Bulls were the big winners in the lottery. Their pick belonged to the Golden State Warriors at No. 13 pre-lottery, but they jumped to second and the lottery protection kicked in, giving Chicago an unexpected top-2 pick. Kentucky wing Lamonte Wilson out of Kentucky is the early favorite to land with Chicago.
The Oklahoma City Thunder were the big losers in the lottery reveal, as the pick they owned from the Los Angeles Clippers could have been No. 1 overall, but it dropped to No. 7 behind the two expansion teams – the Seattle SuperSonics and the Las Vegas Lights. After the lottery reveal, the Thunder worked the phone lines to try to pair Nos. 7 and 18 overall in a deal to find an immediate contributor to a roster ready to win now, and they succeeded. More on that deal to come...
Seattle is slotted to pick No. 5 in the draft, followed by Las Vegas at No. 6, as the two new expansion teams will be making their first draft picks in franchise history.
Editor's Note: Pick No. 22 belongs to OKC, not MIN, as shown in the screenshot.
