The biggest thing imo is KP's injury catching up to them. Al Horford was their only playable center (their other 2 options were a toasted Kelly Olynyk and a 2nd round 6'8 rookie named Demarco Smith) which just let Evan Mobley feast on both ends. Game 5, Boston was outrebounded by 30 while in Game 6 they couldn't get anything going from the floor.

Cleveland's depth also just caught up to Boston. The Cavs have about 5 players that can go for 15+ on any given night while the Celtics only have the Jays as their consistent offensive options. Garland's box score wasn't fitted onto Game 6 but he had double digit assists which is big considering the Cavs only hit 7 3PTs in the game.

Monumental Dynasty | Washington Wizards MyNBA Franchise | NBA 2K24

Apologies for the slow uploads. I feel as we're kinda slogging through the playoffs, so I think in the future I'll either condense Round 1 into one post or maybe post multiple games at once to speed things up.

I'm going to be traveling internationally next week for work and I'll be gone for about the next 2-3 weeks so I'm going to wait to post the Finals until I get back.

I have written posts all the way until the draft and I fully intend on uploading everything there but to be transparent, I haven't touched 2K in about 2-weeks' time and I'm pretty annoyed about how much time and effort has to go into creating a realistic universe.

Reading StudBucket's College Hoops portion of his dynasty along with watching Youtubers CF Series, I realize I'm missing out on actually playing the video game versus what I'm doing now which is micromanaging the video game. From 30-team control to make sure teams have 1-15 play a portion of the season, managing teams trades and future cap space, assisting with FA to make sure high overall players don't go unsigned, and creating all of the draft classes because 2K's auto generated classes are trash.... it's a lot lol.

I felt this way during the summer about 2k and I eventually came back. I still have 2-more draft classes created that I really want to use and 50% of one final class created so I may just drop the ultra-realistic 30-team control and just make a few moves for the computer here and there to see if I get more enjoyment out of MyNBA.

If anyone has any suggestions let me know. I look forward to catching up with everyone's dynasty when I come back!

My biggest recommendation is "only do the things that you either enjoy doing or re-reading".

            • Can you still provide great playoffs content in 1 post instead of 3? Yes.
            • Can you provide great draft content, but with less effort put into previewing every player? Yes.
            • Can you let the CPU make some dumb decisions and just choose to over-ride 20% of them? Yes.

Just find the things that you find most taxing and streamline them. I'd rather you make this last longer and be a bit less in-depth than to go super in depth and only go for 3 seasons.

Thanks for the good suggestions here. I'll definitely be pulling back on the 30-team control and just shrug off dumb CPU decisions (which you'll be able to see once I get to the FA portion).

Also pulling back a little on the immense detail in all areas will likely help speed things up. Ngl, its tough not to highlight the late 2nd Rd Steal or the Late Lotto pick that's playing terrible, but I can understand through the reader's view that it doesn't necessarily move the needle for enjoyment of the dynasty.

My biggest gripe will still be the trash automated draft classes (and the lack of good fictional classes on PS4) but I think the ultimate plan will be 5-years on PS4 then potentially convert it over to PC. Some of the mod tools I've looked up thus far have made streamlining draft class creation a lot easier.

The trash draft classes are rough, I agree. Not sure if there's a pattern you can figure out, like where you only have to go edit 1 attribute (potential) for all the players and you do something like rolling a die to determine the number of players with potential over 80, etc.

Very much agree with Studbucket regarding streamlining things. Ultimately it’s got to be about the parts you actually enjoy. It’s sad to hear that 2K is still such a slog. Honestly, it’s one of the main reasons I ended up putting the game down for so many years.

As for classes, I’ve not seen the “market” for 2K24 but is there much in the way of created classes here on OS or something that you could implement?

Enjoy the time away! Travelling is always a blast.

Hi everyone, it's been a while. I was done with the dynasty back when I last posted in October and didn't touch my save files until now. Despite my frustrations with 2k, I have the dynasty itch back. It's also a lot more fun to run one that I can post about to track through time. This post is supposed to be a quick synopsis to catch everyone back up on what's happening in the universe.

There's going to be a few changes I'm going to make for my overall enjoyment level and hopefully I can close out 4 more seasons in the universe.
                    • I had 2 save files, one that had 7 games played in the 25-26 season and one that started at the beginning off the '25 offseason. I opted to restart that offseason just for the enjoyment factor and gave the house rule of giving the Wizards the 5th overall pick as that's the one I had in the last file (and we still received the 5th pick despite being the worst team in the league lol). The major difference is that Brooklyn won this draft lottery instead of San Antonio. We can either ignore the last draft lottery post or say the Alley Hoops staff are so bad at their job, they reported the wrong draft order.
                    • I'm going to change the Alley Hoops reporting format to have quicker, more digestible pieces instead of walls of text. I got the idea from a basketball page I follow on IG called half.past.noon who produce some amazing content. I think this will make it more enjoyable to read / create.
                    • Instead of reporting on the entire universe, trying to capture the brilliance of the 9th man on the Heat who went at the end of the '24 draft (his name is Donta Hall and he's a stud), I'm going to focus more on the Wizards and sprinkle in high-level league updates here and there. Also, instead of covering previews for every league event then covering the league event itself, I'm going to move faster with the goal of finishing this next season by sometime next month.
                    • Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk!

Love the recap and it stinks to see the luck the Wizards have had. Hopefully this just makes it sweeter when you can actually taste success. Excited to see future updates.

Fun to learn more about those guys. While Harrison Barnes or Serge Ibaka doesn't get me excited, 2-3 players like him can be the foundation of a great team. Hopefully Washington can keep building, and maybe get lucky here.

I think NBA Draft Net comped Kawhi to Luc Mbah a Moute and Giannis to Nic Batum so you never know if you can trust the pro comparisons lol

Totally fair. A more athletic Barnes or a 28 ppg Barnes would be amazing. Like a Khris Middleton++ type player. Or Serge Ibaka as a 1 or 2 could be like Alonzo Mourning with a 3 point shot.

Nice picks. Certainly hope at least 1 of the 3 is an All-Star.

Few factors. Coming out of OTE instead of going to a regular college. Horrible jump shooter who can only score around the rim. He's a player in need of development around of a core of players that are 28-29 and doesn't mesh well on the court with Fox (at least at the time of the draft).
