Re: 76ers Time to Finish the Process

The San Antonio Spurs dominated in nearly every statistical category, rolling past the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers with a commanding 130-113 victory on Dec. 23. Without Joel Embiid for the rest of the season, the Sixers struggled defensively, allowing San Antonio to shoot efficiently across the board. Victor Wembanyama led the way with a double-double, posting 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Harrison Barnes chipped in 20 points. The Spurs showcased balanced scoring, with Keldon Johnson (19 pts), Chris Paul (15 pts, 5 reb), Jeremy Sochan (12 pts, 5 reb), and Tre Jones (10 pts) all hitting double figures.

Philadelphia found offensive firepower in Paul George, who erupted for 39 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Tyrese Maxey added 30 points and 6 assists. However, the Sixers struggled with turnovers and couldn’t keep up with San Antonio’s depth. Kyle Lowry was the only other Sixer in double figures with 11 points. Now having dropped two straight, Philadelphia (15-12) remains fifth in the Eastern Conference but faces a tough holiday stretch with road games against the Celtics on Dec. 25 and the Jazz on Dec. 28.

Re: 76ers Time to Finish the Process

The Philadelphia 76ers snapped their three-game losing streak in dominant fashion, defeating the Utah Jazz 120-106 on the road. Despite being without Joel Embiid for the remainder of the season, the Sixers put together a well-rounded performance, led by Paul George’s explosive 39-point outing. Tyrese Maxey contributed 27 points and eight assists, while Andre Drummond’s monster night on the glass (18 points, 22 rebounds) earned him Player of the Game honors. Rookie Jared McCain added 17 points before exiting in the second half with a hip injury but returning to finish the game.

Philadelphia controlled the game with superior ball movement, rebounding, and transition play, overwhelming Utah with a 20-0 advantage in second-chance points. The Jazz, missing key shot-blocker Taylor Hendricks, relied heavily on Collin Sexton’s 37-point performance and Lauri Markkanen’s all-around effort, but they struggled to keep up. Utah’s bench outscored Philly’s, but with only one other player in double figures (Svi Mykhailiuk, 12 points), they couldn’t match the Sixers’ offensive depth.

Now 16-13 and sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers look to build momentum as they continue their West Coast road trip with upcoming matchups against the Trail Blazers (Dec. 30) and Kings (Jan. 1).

Re: 76ers Time to Finish the Process

The Philadelphia 76ers continued to struggle without superstar Joel Embiid, falling to the Sacramento Kings 120-104 on New Year’s Day. With this loss, the Sixers drop to 16-15 on the season, sliding to sixth place in the Eastern Conference amid a two-game skid.

Despite a spectacular effort from Paul George, who poured in 45 points along with eight rebounds, and a strong showing from Tyrese Maxey (25 points, five assists), the Sixers couldn’t keep pace with a balanced Kings attack. Andre Drummond contributed a double-double (12 points, 13 rebounds), but no other Philadelphia player reached double figures.

Sacramento took control behind De’Aaron Fox’s dominant 37-point, seven-assist performance, while Keegan Murray added 14 points and nine rebounds. The Kings’ depth proved to be the difference, as Kevin Huerter, DeMar DeRozan, and Malik Monk each chipped in 13 points. Sacramento controlled key statistical categories, leading in field goal percentage, three-point shooting, points in the paint, steals, and rebounds.

Philly showed flashes, excelling at the free-throw line and recording more blocks, but their lack of scoring depth proved costly. As the Sixers look to regroup, they’ll need to find answers quickly with a tough two-game road trip ahead, facing the Portland Trail Blazers on December 30 before taking on the Kings again in Sacramento on January 1.

Re: 76ers Time to Finish the Process

The Philadelphia 76ers secured a crucial 111-104 road victory over the Brooklyn Nets, fueled by the long-awaited return of Joel Embiid. Initially feared to be out for the season, Embiid made an immediate impact, posting a dominant 16-point, 16-rebound performance that anchored the Sixers on both ends of the floor. With this win, Philadelphia climbs to fifth in the Eastern Conference at 18-15, riding a two-game win streak into a pivotal homestand.

Despite the Nets’ strong perimeter shooting and bench contributions—led by Cam Thomas’ explosive 37-point effort and Ziaire Williams’ 21 points—Philadelphia controlled the game inside. The Sixers outperformed Brooklyn in field goal percentage, points in the paint, and rebounding, leaning on a balanced offensive attack. Tyrese Maxey led the charge with 31 points, five rebounds, and six assists, while Paul George added 26 points and seven boards. Kelly Oubre Jr. chipped in 11 points as the only other Sixer in double figures.

Brooklyn kept the pressure on with superior ball movement and defensive activity, winning the assists and steals battle, but their inability to control the paint proved costly. D’Angelo Russell contributed 19 points and seven assists, yet the Nets fell short down the stretch.

The Sixers now return to Philadelphia for a two-game homestand, looking to build momentum against the Phoenix Suns on Jan. 6 and the Washington Wizards on Jan. 8.

Re: 76ers Time to Finish the Process

The Philadelphia 76ers continued their impressive surge with a 113-105 victory over the Washington Wizards, extending their winning streak to four games and climbing to fourth in the Eastern Conference at 20-15. Despite missing Paul George, the Sixers leaned on their superstar, Joel Embiid, who dominated with 43 points and 20 rebounds, fresh off being named Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Tyrese Maxey provided a strong scoring punch with 31 points and five assists, while rookie guard Jared McCain chipped in 16 points and eight assists.

Washington found success in key areas, leading in second-chance points, three-point shooting, steals, and assists, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Philadelphia’s efficiency in field goal percentage, points in the paint, free throw shooting, and rebounding. Kyle Kuzma put on a stellar performance for the Wizards with 34 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds, while Jonas Valančiūnas added a double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists. Washington also got solid contributions from Corey Kispert (13 points), Jordan Poole (12 points), and Saddiq Bey (11 points).

With momentum on their side, the Sixers look to keep rolling with back-to-back matchups, hosting the New Orleans Pelicans on January 10 before heading to Orlando for a clash with the Magic on January 12.

The Philadelphia 76ers secured a thrilling 104-103 victory over the Orlando Magic, surviving a final-second shot attempt from Paolo Banchero to hold on for the win. Despite missing key star Paul George, the Sixers leaned on their two pillars, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, to get the job done on the road.

Embiid dominated with a monstrous 37-point, 18-rebound performance, controlling the paint and setting the tone for Philadelphia. Maxey added 27 points and six assists, providing the scoring punch needed to keep pace with an energetic Magic squad. Rookie guard Jared McCain also stepped up with 19 points, five rebounds, and six assists, proving his value as a key contributor in the absence of George.

Orlando found success in transition and from beyond the arc, leading in fast-break points, three-point percentage, steals, and assists. Franz Wagner (17 points) and Cole Anthony (16 points, six assists) paced the Magic offensively, while Banchero (13 points, five rebounds, seven assists) and Wendell Carter Jr. (13 points, five rebounds) also reached double figures. However, despite their efficiency, Orlando couldn’t overcome Philadelphia’s edge in field goal percentage, points in the paint, free throw percentage, and rebounding.

The win keeps the 76ers in fifth place in the Eastern Conference at 21-16, now just two games behind Orlando for the fourth seed. Philadelphia will look to build momentum with back-to-back home games, hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 14 before facing the New York Knicks on Jan. 15.

The Philadelphia 76ers came up short in the second game of their back-to-back against the New York Knicks, falling 112-105 at home. Despite a dominant performance from Joel Embiid, who posted 37 points and 15 rebounds, and a strong outing from Tyrese Maxey with 22 points and seven assists, the Sixers couldn’t overcome key injuries and a red-hot Knicks squad. Missing Paul George and Jared McCain, and later losing both Kyle Lowry and Kenyon Martin Jr. in the third quarter, Philadelphia struggled to find consistent offensive support beyond Embiid and Maxey, with Kelly Oubre Jr. (13 points) as the only other Sixer in double figures.

New York capitalized on their depth, doubling up Philly in bench points and controlling the game defensively with advantages in steals and blocks. Jalen Brunson torched the Sixers for 37 points and five assists, while former Sixer Landry Shamet added 21 points off the bench. Mitchell Robinson had a dominant two-way performance with 18 points and 12 rebounds, earning Player of the Game honors. Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in 10 points and seven boards to round out the Knicks’ balanced attack.

The Sixers held statistical edges in field goal percentage, points in the paint, free throw percentage, assists, fast-break points, and total rebounds, but their short-handed roster and New York’s superior perimeter shooting (along with Philadelphia’s lack of bench production) proved to be the difference. Now 22-17 and dropping to fifth in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers face a tough road stretch with back-to-back games against the Indiana Pacers (Jan. 18) and Milwaukee Bucks (Jan. 19).
