    Re: Just Win Baby!

I just played my game vs the Saints and I killed them. Going to do some major adjustments to my offensive and defensive sliders.

My philosophy with this one, is play the game, keep the results, tinker with the sliders and see what happens the following week. That way I won't get frustrated and quit and by the end should have a set of sliders that will provide challenge and realism (I hope)

      Week 6

      Raiders (5-0) @ Saints (3-2)

      1st Quarter

What is becoming something of a trend, no score in the first quarter.

      2nd Quarter

The Raiders get the first score when HB Justin Fargas takes the pitch and turns the corner on a 3yd TD dash.

      OAK 7 NO 0

New Orleans responds when QB Drew Brees finds a wide open WR Marques Colston for a 46yd TD.

      OAK 7 NO 7

OAK QB Ken Dorsey throws the Raiders down the field and HB Justin Fargas adds his second rushing TD

      OAK 14 NO 7

The Saints scramble down the field as time ticks off the clock and manage a 41yd FG by former Raider Sebastian Janikowski.

OAK 14 NO 10 at the half

      3rd Quarter

The Raiders extend their lead by 3 when P Shane Lechler nails a 33yd FG

      OAK 17 NO 10

The Saints have a pourous line and QB Brees is taking a beating. The Saints have to punt. Oakland Coach Joslin calls for run after run to take as much time off the clock as possible. HB Justin Fargas finishes the drive with a 7yd TD run on the counter play.

      OAK 24 NO 10

      4th Quarter

A punt by P Shane Lechler pins the Saints at the 3yd line. The Raiders aggressive blitzing defense turns this into points when DE Derrick Burgess tackles NO HB Marion Barber in the endzone for a Safety!

      OAK 26 NO 10

The Saints turn the ball over on downs and Coach Joslin goes back to running the ball and the clock. QB Ken Dorsey puts the final nail in the coffin with a 5yd TD pass to his favorite target, WR Ronald Curry.

      OAK 33 NO 10

The Saints manage to get to the 40 before facing a 4th and long. Down by 23 with 3:34 left in the game, they opt to punt. Clearly NO Coach Sean Payton feels that the game is out of reach as on the previous two possessions he had went for it on 4th downs. The Raiders get the ball back and run the ball and clock until time runs out (curiously the Saints never used their two remaining timeouts to stop the clock.)

OAK 33 NO 10 Final- Raiders Win!

      Key Performers

OAK QB Ken Dorsey 22/28 for 256yds TD
NO QB Drew Brees 16/35 for 222yds TD

OAK HB Justin Fargas 31 carries for 99yds 3TDs
NO HB Marion Barber 4 rushes for -7yds

OAK WR Ronald Curry 7 catches for 91yds TD
NO WR Brandon Lloyd 9 catches for 135yds

OAK DE Derrick Burgess 6 tackles, 4 TFL, 4 sacks
OAK MLB Akin Ayodele 6 tackles, 4 TFL, 4 sacks
NO OLB Lance Briggs 13 tackles, 5 TFL, sack

Time of Possession: Oakland 39:22/20:37 New Orleans

The undefeated Raiders (5-0) host the Jets (0-5) next week, the Saints (3-3) travel to Carolina to face the Panthers (1-5)

              Raiders Injury Update

DT Terdell Sands dislocates his elbow and will miss 2-3 weeks.

WR David Tyress is still out for another week.

OLB Scott Fujita could be ready to play this week.

              Around the League

Bears lose starting HB Michael Pittman to a cracked leg bone for 1-4 months

Arizona starting QB Kurt Warner will miss 1-2 weeks with a Tricep Strain.
They also lose starting HB Edgerrin James for 5-8 months with a Bruised Thigh (come on Edge...suck it up and play, it's a bruised thigh!)

Eagles Free Agenge DE Jevon Kearse goes on IR with a Torn Tricep

Jaguars lose their Free Agent OLB Roosevelt Colvin to a Torn ACL, MCL and PCL, he goes on IR

Jets lost DT Kris Jenkins for the season with a Torn MCL, he's on IR

Lions lose starting HB Warrick Dunn for 5-8 weeks with a Severely Pulled Hamstring. This is a bigger problem than it seems as they also lost backup HB Aaron Stecker to a Torn MCL (on IR).

Patriots lose veteran MLB Junior Seau for 5-6 weeks with a Bruised Hip

The Ravens are in trouble losing MLB Bart Scott (torn MCL, IR) LE Trevor Pryce (Lis Franc, IR), RE Haloti Ngata (ankle sprain, 2 weeks), DT Glenn Dorsey (R) (Quad Contusion, 1 week), MLB Ray Lewis (Broken Arm, 1 week), in addition their backup DT Bryan Robinson (bruised thigh, 3-5 months) and OLBs Antwan Barnes (Bruised Hip, 2 days) and Prescott Burgess (Leg Cramp, 3-5 days) are also dinged up.

                Raider Resignings

RT Mark Wilson signs a 4yr deal woth $15.3M with a $5.5M bonus. This resigning makes GM/Owner Al Davis very happy as he felt that Wilson was the lone standout on the Raiders OLine

FS Chris Johnson agrees to a $3.2M deal over 3 years with a $500K bonus.

Undrafted Rookie Free Agent WR Kevin Robinson agrees to a deal. Coach Joslin bent and gave the rookie a 3yr deal worth $4.9M with a $1.5M bonues. "The kid has a lot of potential, arguably more than any other receiver on our roster." commented Coach Joslin on the deal.

RG Chris Terry refuses to sign a 2yr deal with the Raiders. His agent had this to say "We want more money or better yet an incentive that will boost Chris' salary if he starts 16 games. It's only fair." The Raiders would like to bring Terry back, but only if they can get him at the right price.

C John Sullivan agrees to a 3yr deal worth a total of $770K. This means that Sullivan actually took a pay cut of $60K this year to gain some insurance that he'd be with the team next year.

Undrafted Rookie Free Agent HB Dantrell Savage met with the team but a deal couldn't be worked out.

Backup TE Leonard Pope agreed to a 2yr deal worth $820K with no bonus

Developmental player RT Andrew Crummey takes a paycut to extend his contract, Crummey who was making $290K signed a 2yr deal worth $480K, meaning he will make $220K this year and $260K next year.

It's hard to argue with success, but I wouldn't have given Ken Dorsey that 5 year deal. I hope you don't have to eat that contract later on.

It was a tough choice. I had hoped he would of come in with a more reasonable #, but in the end, I figured for this dynasty I wanted some stability at the position and so far he's progressed quite nicely. He started at an OVR 69/69 and currently is at OVR 80/80.

Hopefully he's our long term solution. If not, well it's not like I'm breaking new trail spending money on a QB that doesn't work out...it's what the Raiders do.

                          Week 7

New York Jets (0-5) @ Oakland Raiders (5-0)

The downtrodden Jets head to Oakland looking for their first win versus a suprisingly stout Raiders team.

                          1st Quarter

NYJ QB Kellen Clemens starts the game with a bang when he finds WR Laverneas Coles for a 67yd TD.

                          NYJ 7 OAK 0

Oakland responds with a 3yd TD run by HB Justin Fargas

                          NYJ 7 OAK 7

                          2nd Quarter

OAK QB Ken Dorsey hooks up with WR Josh Cribbs for a 31yd TD

                          NYJ 7 OAK 14

The Jets come right back and WR L. Coles adds another TD.

                          NYJ 14 OAK 14

OAK HB2 Kevin Faulk takes the pitch, shakes a tackle, turns the corner and he's gone, 34yd TD

                          NYJ 14 OAK 21

NYJ WR L. Coles is having a career day hauling in a 54yd TD pass, his 3rd TD of the game and he's already over 100yds receiving in the first half.

QB Ken Dorsey on the other hand is having no problem picking apart the Jets defense. QB Dorsey adds another TD when he hits rookie WR Kevin Robinson fora 10yd TD. The Raiders get the 2pt conversion this time on a pitch to HB Justin Fargas

                          NYJ 21 OAK 35

                            Week 8

                            Oakland Raiders (6-0) @ Baltimore Ravesn (2-5)

The Ravens defense returns to nearly full strength for this one and they look to end Oakland QB Ken Dorsey's storybook season.

                            1st Quarter

Raiders score first with a 1yd run by HB Justin Fargas

                            OAK 7 BAL 0

Baltimore responds with a play sure to make the highlight reels when BAL QB Kyle Boller hits WR Demetrius Williams in stride and Williams goes 74yds for a TD.

                            OAK 7 BAL 7

The Raiders waste no time adding a play of their own to the highlight reel with a pitch play to HB Justin Fargas that goes 57yds for a TD

                            OAK 14 BAL 7

After a couple of failed series, P Shane Lechler pins the Ravens on their 1yd line, and MLB Akin Ayodele turns it into points when he pulls BAL HB P J Daniels in the endzone for a Safety!

                            OAK 16 BAL 7

                            2nd Quarter

OAK QB Ken Dorsey hits TE Zach Miller for a 15yd score

                            OAK 23 BAL 7

BAL QB Kyle Boller scrambles 7yds for a Ravens TD

                            OAK 23 BAL 14

With less than a minute on the clock the Raiders pass their way down the field and P Shane Lechler adds a 33yd FG as time expires.

OAK 26 BAL 14 at the half

                            3rd Quarter

The Raiders start to play cautiously running the ball to run the clock and punting. The Ravens can't get anything going.

                            4th Quarter

Baltimore adds a 7yd TD when QB Kyle Boller hits rookie WR DeSean Jackson.

                            OAK 26 BAL 21

The Raiders show a little more aggressiveness and it pays off with a 8yd TD run by HB Justin Fargas.

                            OAK 33 BAL 21

The Ravens go into their 2 minute offense, but are forced to turn the ball over on downs. A fumble by the Raiders gives them the ball back with less than a minute to play. They pass down the field with ease, but each play takes precious seconds off the clock. A few stops by the Raiders force the Ravens to burn their timeouts then as time expires QB Kyle Boller hist WR Mark Clayton for a meaningless TD.

Arguably the game vs the Jets and Ravens were winable ones, but I'm still going to fiddle with the sliders
