              Week 14

Oakland Raiders (12-0) @ San Diego Chargers (6-6)

              1st Quarter

Rookie HB Dantrell Savage goes in from 6yds out to put the Raiders on the scoreboard.

              OAK 7 SD 0

              2nd Quarter

The Chargers respond when QB Phillip Rivers hits backup HB Darren Sproles for an 8yd TD

              OAK 7 SD 7

The Raiders go for it on 4th and goal and come up short, turning the ball over to the Chargers. Unfortunately for the Chargers they are on the 5 yard line and facing one of the stiffest run defenses in the league. After losing 4 yards on 3 plays the Chargers opt to punt. Too bad for them OLB Leon Williams gets by his mand and tackles P Mike Scifres in the back of the endzone...Saftety!

              OAK 9 SD 7

The Chargers take the lead heading into the locker room, when QB P. Rivers hits TE Antonio Gates in the back of the endzone.

OAK 9 SD 14 at the half

              3rd Quarter

The Raiders start the 3rd quarter off with a bang, when HB Justin Fargas goes up the middle, knocking a LB and Safety out of his way on his way 68yds to the endzone. The Raiders go for 2pts and Fargas gets that on a pitch play.

              OAK 17 SD 14

A fumble by SD HB LaDanian Tomlinson sets up a 9yd TD catch by OAK TE Zach Miller

              OAK 24 SD 14

              4th Quarter

The Raiders are running the clock now, but the Chargers are determined to stop Fargas. QB Dorsey goes for the short pass to convert on 3rd down, and former Giant WR David Tyree is open. WR Tyree has it and no one is between him and the endzone...55yd TD

              OAK 31 SD 14

SD TE Antonio Gates shows why many consider him to be the best TE in the NFL when he out jumps OAK CB Fabian Washington for the ball, breaks free of Washington's tackle and runs 72yds to the endzone, stiff arming SS Ken Hamlin into the ground at the goal line to score.

              OAK 31 SD 21

Another fumble by the Chargers kills their drive, giving the ball back to Oakland who runs down the field and adds another 2yd TD run by HB Justin Fargas to put this one out of reach.

OAK 38 SD 21 Final- Oakland remains undefeated!

              Key Performers

OAK QB Ken Dorsey 20/32 for 257yds 2 TDs Int
SD QB Phillip Rivers 17/33 for 279yds 3 TDs

OAK HB Justin Fargas 23 runs for 94yds 2 TDs
SD HB LaDanian Tomlinson 18 runs for 18yds

OAK WR Kevin Robinson (R) 7 catches for 100yds
SD TE Antonio Gates 7 catches for 180yds 2 TDs

OAK DE Derrick Burgess 4 tackles, TFL, Sack
SD OLB Shawn Merriman 11 tackles, 5 TFL, Sack

Time of Possession: Raiders 35:22/24:24 Chargers

Injuries: Raiders lose DT Tommy Kelly and DE Jay Richardson (broken thumb and mild pulled hamstring) for next week's game vs. the Patriots.

2000 Yards Rushing, Is It Possible?

Only 5 players in NFL history have ever rushed for over 2000 in a season, Eric Dickerson, Jamal Lewis, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis and O J Simpson.

Eric Dickerson, LA Rams with 2105yds in 1984

Jamal Lewis, Baltimore Ravens with 2066yds in 2003

Barry Sanders, Detroit Lions with 2053yds in 1997

Terrell Davis, Denver Bronocos with 2008 in 1998

                O J Simpson, Buffalo Bills with 2003yds in 1973

Could Justin Fargas join that elite club? With 3 games left to play in the 2008 season, Fargas has rushed for 1580yds. He has averaged 131yds per game (he only played in 12 games, missing 1 game due to injury.) and is only 420 yards away from the magic number.

Just going by average yards per game, the answer is no. Oakland's suprising HB will fall less than 30 yards short of this lofty goal. But, I have to think that Coach Joslin will give the kid the opportunity to exceed his average. Fargas had done it before: 223yds and 190yds vs the Chiefs show what he's capable of. Can he do it versus teams like the Patriots and Buccaneers?

What do you think, can OAK HB Justin Fargas eclipse the 2000yd barrier this season?

                  1st Quarter

The Patriots score first with a 37yd FG by K Stephen Gostkowski

                  NE 3 OAK 0

The Patriots take advantage of a OAK HB Justin Fargas fumble, and score when NE HB Laurence Maroney takes an outside handoff and goes 73yds for the TD.

                  NE 10 OAK 0

                  2nd Quarter

The Raiders can't get anything going and another fumble, this time by QB Ken Dorsey sets up a 38yd FG by K Stephen Gostkowski

NE 13 OAK 0 at the half

                  3rd Quarter

NE WR Randy Moss embarasses his old team with a 68yd TD catch.

                  NE 20 OAK 7

                  4th Quarter

The Raiders can't seem to stop the Patriots who add another FG

                  NE 23 OAK 7

WR Ronald Curry shakes a tackle to go 25yds for another Raider TD. HB Justin Fargas gets stuffed when he tries for the 2pt conversion

                  NE 23 OAK 13

The Raiders try for the onside kick, but can't get to it.

Ahead by 10 points, with less than 3 minutes left in the game, the Patriots are going full force. QB Tom Brady finds WR Wes Welker for a 10yd TD strike.

                  NE 30 OAK 13

With less than a minute left in the game, the Raiders try some desperation passes, but it is too little too late.

                    Raider Resignings

Backup RG Chris Terry is refusing to speak with GM Al Davis. When reached for comment, his agent responded "Chris didn't like the way he was being treated during negotiations. We wanted incentives should Chris become the starter, they wanted to pay us next to nothing regardless...well enough is enough. Chris is prepared to become a free agent at the end of the season."

Undrafted rookie free agent HB Dantrell Savage agreed to a 2yr deal worth $480K, basically taking a $60K paycut to add another year to his deal.

                        Oakland Raiders (13-1) @ Houston Texans (5-9)

                        1st Quarter

The Texans exploit the Raiders' vulnerability to the outside run and HB Travis Henry goes 79yds for a TD on the first play of the game.

                        HOU 7 OAK 0

The Raiders tie the game when QB Ken Dorsey finds rookie WR Kevin Robinson has beat his man on an out route.

                        HOU 7 OAK 7

                        2nd Quarter

The second quarter is all Raiders. QB Ken Dorsey adds 3 TDs hitting WR David Tyree for a 9yd TD, TE Zach Miller for an 11yd TD, and in the last five seconds of the half, WR David Tyree for a 47yd TD

HOU 7 OAK 28 at the half

                        3rd Quarter

With a commanding lead, the Raiders turn to the run game to eat minutes off the clock. HB Justin Fargas does more than that when he goes in from 5yds out for a TD

                        HOU 7 OAK 35

Backup HB Kevin Faulk takes a pitch and goes 42yds for another TD

                        HOU 7 OAK 42

                        4th Quarter

Rookie K Brandon Coutu nails a 44yd FG only his second of the season.

                        HOU 7 OAK 45

Former Raider WR Jerry Porter adds a Texans TD in garbage time.

                        HOU 14 OAK 45

The Raiders Defense seals the deal when CB Nnamdi Asomugha intercepts HOU QB Matt Schaub and goes 60yds for a TD to end the game.

                            Week 17

Oakland Raiders (14-1) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-2)

                            1st Quarter

A chink in the Raiders defense has definitley been found. The Buccanneers give it to Free Agent HB Shaun Alexander on the outside handoff and he goes 56yds for the TD

                            TB 7 OAK 0

The Raiders respond immediately when WR/KR Josh Cribbs goes 97yds for a kickoff return TD.

                            TB 7 OAK 7

                            2nd Quarter

Tampa Bay takes back the lead with a 40yd FG by K Matt Bryant

                            TB 10 OAK 7

The Raiders have another Kickoff Return TD called back on a clipping penalty and end up giving the ball back to the Buccaneers when OAK QB Ken Dorsey throws an interception. Unfortunately for TB, on the very next play OAK OLB Thomas Howard forces TB QB Jeff Garcia to fumble, the ball is scooped up by OAK DE Jay Richardson who goes 43yds for the Fumble Recovery TD.

                            TB 10 OAK 14

The Buccaneers manage a last second FG to bring the game within 1 pt.

TB 13 OAK 14 at the half

                            3rd Quarter

Tampa Bay adds another FG to take the lead.

                            TB 16 OAK 14

                            4th Quarter

The Raiders take the lead with a 5yd TD pass to rookie WR Kevin Robinson. Oakland goes for 2 and gets it.

                            TB 16 OAK 22

Oakland adds another TD when QB Ken Dorsey hits WR Ronald Curry at the back of the endzone. The 2pt Conversion fails.

HB Justin Fargas gets knocked out of the game with an injury.

                            TB 16 OAK 28

Oakland QB Ken Dorsey fumbles the ball at the goal line, giving it to the Bucs at their own 2yd line. DE Derrick Burgess turns it into points when he sacks TB QB Jeff Garcia in the endzone.

                            TB 16 OAK 30

Tampa Bay isn't having any luck offensively, but they catch a break when outstanding rookie CB Mike Jenkins picks off OAK QB Ken Dorsey and goes 54yds for a TD

                            TB 23 OAK 30

The Raiders are forced to punt with less than 2 minutes on the clock. The Buccaneers go into their 2 minute drill and are seemingly unstopable. Tick Tick Tick, time is slipping away as the Buccaneers get closer and closer to the endzone. Thirteen seconds left in the game 3rd and 8 at the 12yd line. QB Jeff Garcia drops back, he has a man in the endzone, he throws, WR Stovall goes up for the ball, so does OAK CB Nnamdi Asomugha...Asomugha comes down with it. Raiders ball.

Oakland QB Ken Dorsey takes a knee to end this one.
