      Week 10, November 8, 2009
      Redskins at Giants

The Washington Redskins fell to the New York Giants 23-28 in a contest of division rivals. The Giants were dealing with injury problems as starting Center Shaun O'Hara (86) did not play, nor did starting DT Bell (76). RE Umenyiora (Health 44%, LL 1%, Torso and RL 0%) and OLB Kiwanika (Health 59%, RL 0%) saw limited action. But the Giants defense was able to control the Redskins offense as the Redskins defense found it still had areas to improve on.

Redskins QB Wyoming was 10 of 24 for 174 yards and 2 TDs with no INTs while RB Jones added 61 yards and a TD on 20 carries. WR Bronson was the top Redskins receiver with 5 catches for 99 yards.

The Redskins defense was lead by OLB Suggs who had 14 tackles. DE Abiamiri had a sack and CB Prosser and OLB Avril added INTs to the defensive haul.

Giants QB Manning was 19 of 32 for 254 yards as he tossed 3 TDs and the 2 INTs. The Giants RBs sliced through the Redskins defense as Jacobs had 6 yards on 16 carries and Mendenhaul added 44 yards on 7 carries and a TD. Giants WR Smith was a one man clinic as he hauled in 8 catches for 148 yards.

The Giants defense was led by Ross who had 8 tackles. The Giants recorded 6 sacks of the Redskins Quarterbacks.

Redskins kicker Alex Serna continued to struggle with long distance kicks as he missed another kick of over 50 yards.

The Redskins travel to Tampa Bay next to take on the NFC South leading Buccaneers.

The Redskins resigned 3rd string QB Dino Gibson to a 3 year deal.

        Week 11, November 15, 2009
        Redskins at Buccaneers

The Washington Redskins improved to 6-4 after beating the Buccaneers (8-2) in a 24-21 OT thriller. The Buccaneers were missing some key players as WR Galloway (80), LT Peterson (86) and RT Trueblood (87) were out with injuries.

Redskins QB Wyoming was able to lead the team to victory despite only completing 9 of 21 passes for 106 yards, but he did get 2 TD passes to Rookies Koch and Bronson. RB Jones ran for 110 yards on 27 carries and added a TD of his own.

Buccaneers QB Griese was 14 of 25 for 211 yards before being knocked out of the game. He was replaced by QB Hill who completed only 1 out of 6 passes for 12 yards. RB Ernest Graham had 72 yards on 18 carries and a TD. While the leading receiver for the Buccaneers was WR Furrey with 5 catches for 69 yards.

The Buccaneers defense was led by LB Cato June who had 11 tackles and a sack. CB Barber added 10 tackles and an INT in the losing effort.

The Redskins were led by OLB Suggs who had 14 tackles. DT Moore had 2 sacks and DE Abiamiri and SS Steltz both had INTs.

The Redskins will now go to Philadelphia to take on a division rival in the fourth game of this five game road trip.

          Week 12, November 22, 2009
          Redskins at Eagles

The Redskins found they are still not ready for the elite of the league as the Eagles handed them a 31-10 defeat and drop them to 6-5.

The Redskins struggled on both sides of the ball as QB Wyoming was 11 out of 22 for 137 yards and a TD, while being sacked 4 times. RB James was able to gain 91 yards on 23carries in the loss.

The Eagles were able to dominate the game behind the arm of QB McNabb as he was 19 of 28 for 323 yards and a TD, but RB Westbrook broke the Redskins defense with his 74 yards on 21 carries and 3 TDs. Eagles WR gathered in 6 catches for 112 yards for the home team.

The Redskins defense was led by OLB Avril with 11 tackles and DE Campbell was able to record a sack.

The Eagles defense was led by OLB Gocong with 7 tackles and 2 sacks, with Mincey and Forbes recording 1 sack each.

The Redskins travel to Charlotte, NC on the last stop of their 5 game road trip as they try to stay above .500.

            Re: Redskins (HC 09)

            Jus a couple of observations...

I have had 5 players drop their overalls since the season started. Some of them shocked me. Here are the new ratings

            QB Campbell (80/83)
RB Robinson (76/77) H has dropped since I signed him last year
            RB Betts (74)
            WR Moss (75)
            RG Thomas (90)
            CB Smoot (79)

On a different note I think I am going to supersim the next game. I miss not calling the plays. So I will see how that one goes.

This simming season is not going as well as I hoped as we struggle to beat our division rivals.

              Re: Redskins (HC 09)

Tough losses, but when you sim, you really just flip a coin... and hope it's weighted.. Good luck with the SuperSim, hopefully that gives you a better result. What do you think you'll need to make the playoffs? 10-6 will do it or 11-5 a must? Can you win out? Any scary games coming up like the Colts or Pats?

Just curious how Portis is doing on his new team?
My poor Raiders with NO wins??

Suppose if they're not getting used, backups like Betts and Campbell will drop some - doubt they'll be on the team next year anyway - doubtful you'll be able to get anything for Betts, but if Campbell stays somewhat decent overall you might get something for him. Not sure who's contracts are up.

                Re: Redskins (HC 09)

I don't think I will be able to make the playoffs this year, 8-8 is what I am looking at. My next 2 games are winnable with the Panthers and Chiefs. But then comes the Bears, with QB Kain tearing up the record books and finish at home with the Eagles and the Giants.

So it looks like I will hopefully keep my pre-season promise.

I will check on Portis and update you. The Raiders are having another tough year. They don't have a QB and their defense, with the exception of a couple of players would not be starters anywhere else.

This is Campbell's last year. I decided to not trade him, just in case Wyoming got hurt or something. I know that means he will walk for nothing, but I did trade away some top players and end up with 4 2nd Round picks. Betts still has 3 years and I may hang on to him. He plays well when I need him, so does Robinson and they seem like a good rotation with Jones.

Somewhere earlier I put a list of everyone who was in their last year I will update it later today.

                  Re: Redskins (HC 09)

Drops in overall are usually related to one of two things-a serious injury or reduced production. I expect that's why you see player like Darren McFadden lose potential, their NFL Production doesn't match the production they had in college.

I think you can replace the lost potential through production with increased production, but I suspect potential lost to injury is gone forever.I imagine I'll find out soon-ROLB Lance Briggs had his head health drop to 0% in the Giants game, and I still have to find out how serious that will be.He's currently at 89/90.

                    Re: Redskins (HC 09)

I think with my players it was a drop due to loss of production for some and age with others. It is not that big of a deal because they are all back-ups, but I just thought it was strange to see that many.

I thought I would give you some updates on the players I traded at the beginning of the season.

HB Portis went to the Jets. He has 181 carries, 662 yards for 3.6 YPC and 6 TDs. His Health is 29% with both legs at 0%.

OLB McIntosh to the Eagles has not had a tackle.

OLB Washington to the Lions. 60 tackles, 2 sacks, and an INT. His Health is at 61%, with his Right leg at 55% and Left leg 27%.

K Tynes to the Lions is doing great...the SOB. He has hit 18 of 19 FGs and 19 of 19 XPs.

MLB Fletcher-Baker to the Chiefs is doing great. He is their leading tackler with 95, 1 sack and 2 INTs. His Health is at 62%, RL 34% and LL 42%.

So all in all, I think they are doing okay with their new teams. But the steady health decline has to be a problem.

Speaking of Health, I actually played the Panthers game and the awful trainer for the Panthers was very evident from the list of injured players.

WR Steve Smith is on IR with a torn MCL.
FB Darian Barnes is on IR with a ruptured spleen.
HB Deangelo Williams out 2-3 weeks with a bruised hip.
DT Ross Kolodziej is injured pending report.
ROLB Na'il Diggs is injured pending report.

LE Julius Peppers, HLTH 25%, RL, LL and Torso all at 0%.
DT Ma'ake Kemoeatu, HLTH 36%, RL and LL are 0%, Torso 6%.
DT Anttaj Hawthhorne, HLTH 39%, RL, LL and Torso 2%
RB Warrick Dunn, HLTH 43%, RL 6% and LL 1%.

                        Chiefs at Redskins

The Kansas City Chiefs had 2 players injured at the start of their contest with the Redskins, LG Waters (86) and C Smith (85). The Redskins were able to dominate the game as they defeated the visitors 33-10 to bring their record to 8-5.

Redskins QB Wyoming was 11 of 15 for 123 yards as the running back tandem of Jones and Robinson were able to put the game away. Robinson had 62 yards with 17 carries and a TD and RB Jones scored 2 times with 17 carries and 56 yards.

The home team defense was led by MLB Bates with 7 tackles and an INT. DE Campbell had 2 sacks to help shut down the Chiefs offense. K Serna continued to struggle as he missed a FG and an XP.

The Chiefs were led by QB Trent Green who was 11 of 24 and 124 yards with an INT. RB Larry Johnson had 56 yards on 14 carries with the only TD for the visitors. MLB Fletcher-Baker showed the home team that he was still a viable player as he recorded 11 tackles and a sack. DE Long added 4 tackles and an INT.

The Redskins travel next to Chicago to take on the resurgent Bears who are led by rookie sensation QB Joe Kain in battle of rookie QBs.

I am going to just give you a quick rundown of how the season ended for me and then I will give you the end of year things.

Week 15: Redskins at Bears. The Redskins won, 31-0. QB Joe Kain was intercepted 3 times as the Bears offense struggled against the blitzing Redskins. The running game of the Redskins got over 170 yards on the ground. The Redskins improved to 9-5.

Week 16: Eagles at Redskins. A closely fought game that saw the Redskins come out on top, 17-16. The Eagles won every aspect of the game, except the final score. The Redskins improved to 10-5 with a slim chance of getting in the playoffs.

Week 17: Giants at Redskins. This was so close, but the Redskins lost 17-20 to finish the season 10-6. Ironically, the Giants also missed the playoffs this year as both teams ended up 10-6.

The Redskins were well represented at the Pro-Bowl:
                          FB Beau McFarland
                          LT Chris Samuels
                          LG Pat McQuistan
                          C Nick Mangold
                          CB Shawn Springs
                          CB Dexter Prosser
                          FS Laron Landry

The NFC East is tough. My first year with the Bears the Eagles went 12-4 and missed the playoffs.
