ha good luck... Beating the Ravens is doable, but the colts the first couple of years are near unstoppable. We're rooting for you though! And roll tide.

End the Colts hopes of a undefeated season! Blitz, blitz, and blitz some more. Those two losses were killer, and your team is really struggling to stay healthy. Going to look into a new trainer during the offseason?

I'm going to go all in vs the Colts and hope they don't crush me like 73-0 or anything! LMAO! I think I can keep the Ravens game close though...

That's the thing - my trainer is like a 68 or something, he's not exactly a scrub. He's got some points building up to spend too. But I might.. part of the problem is I inherited a team with a lot of guys who's health is in the 70s or worse... (Henderson, Taylor, etc.) But even when I signed Fason (87 health) he got hurt on his 3rd or 4th carry - so I might just be cursed.

I'm definitely going to draft/FA with a bias towards health/durability. I'm excited about the draft 'cause I can see from playing the games who's making an impact and who's not and where I need to draft and what to look for in FA. I'm so excited for the offseason to begin. I def think I can get this team to a wild card next year, though the odds of winning the division over the Colts are pretty damn low.

          Colts sweep Jags, 41-10

The weather was the only thing that was calm in Jacksonville as Peyton Manning and the Cotls struck early and often as they put the Jaguars away with little trouble, 41-10. Peyton continued to build his case for league MVP by throwing 5 touchdowns. The Jaguars found that they couldn't run with the Colts all game, but played a good first half. Oddly, QB Dennis Dixon got an eye poke that was supposed to last 3-4 plays, but he never was able to get back into the game.

RG Champ Warren injured his arm, the timetable is 4-6 weeks, so I have put him on IR and signed LG Max Jean-Giles and moved him to RG to help fill the void.

(as the starter overPats FS J Sanders)
FB Greg Jones has also made the Pro Bowl!!! (as the starter over Titans FB A Hall)

The Final Game of the season is upon us!! The 7-8 Jaguars take on the 4-11 Ravens in Baltimore. Jaguars WIN!!!!
Defeat Ravens on last second kick.

On a beautiful December day in Baltimore, it was a tale of two kickers as Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee hit a field goal as time expired to earn the win for Jacksonville. Meanwhile, his counterpart Matt Stover hit 4 field goals of his own, but missed one in the 3rd quarter that might have changed the game.

With the win, the Ravens drop to 4-12, and the Jaguars even their record at 8-8!

                          The 2009 offseason begins...Approval is 37

First thing the GM wants me to do is cut MLB Mike Peterson. I did resign him to a manageable deal to be the reserve MLB and finish his career here, but then again, maybe I should let him move on and save some money. I think I'll let him move on and see if Goff can be that reserve, or someone else - either on my roster, free agency or the draft.

Dead Weight #2 LG Vince Manwai, 28 yrs old, (81) be nice if you could pull up the player card while you're on the "cut/don't cut" screen to give the player one more look over.... I'm going to cut him just because I know I can do better.

RB Fred Taylor retired. At least I'm assuming, he was under contact - now he's gone. I missed the memo. That's too bad. He was having a great season, 5.9 yards per carry...

As of right now I have the following picks in the draft
                          1-17
                          2-37
                          2-49
                          7-195

Obviously I need to add about 3-4 more picks somewhere in the middle rounds. This will be fun because I really don't know anything about the draft paths, and never read the draft path posts on here. Obviously some names I've heard on here a lot...

                          Franchise Tag - NONE

My start of free agency salary cap is: $42.65 million. I have $21.27 in penalties and $24m in potential incentives. There's a few stud defenders out there, Peppers and Tommie Harris, for example... but I might keep my FA activity to a minimum so I'm clear to really hook my team up next year. We'll see....

major mistake - I had turned off all the weekly scouting in the clipboard for last season because it I didn't need it for the 2008 draft. Forgot to turn it back on so my college guys aren't scouted well at all. LMAO! This WILL be interesting! I turned it all on with a few days till free agency.

The Mock Draft has me taking a TE named Joseph Herman from Washington State at #17. Lewis had his best year last year, but had 13 drops and his OVR/POT for my system is in the 70s somewhere. I wouldn't mind an upgrade, but I have a few more important needs, esp at defensive end - the spot I think I need an impact player the most as of right now.

A couple thoughts about my roster:

WR Troy Williamson will save $8.4 if I cut and take a $3 million hit. I want to try to trade him regardless.

DT John Henderson... he's a 90 OVR has has 3 years left, but the guy was hurt just about every game. I don't want to pay him till he's 32/33 years old. I'm going to take some lumps for this, but I'm going to trade him and find a good second DT, after Kerry Dunn, the other guys are marginal.

SS Brandon McGowan shows that he made the Pro Bowl, no one told me? LOL!!! Bo Wilson actually has a better POT, but I can't see cutting a Pro Bowler; Bo can battle him in camp though I suppose. Neither have high POT, but seem to be getting the job done.

Definitely need starting caliber guards, maybe center too. Both my tackles are great, but both are in their last year. I'd like to find a power back to who can help get the tough yards. Jones and Boyd weren't getting it done, and Fred's gone. LenDale White is on the Titans trade block, and one of my favorites, Ron Dayne is a FA, but 31. I like my fullback, but he got hurt towards the end of the year, so I have to be a little more careful with him - of course, he made the Pro Bowl, so I don't want to back off too much.

Have to try to find some key guys to get me some sacks this year. I don't want to pay for the top names though - Ray Lewis, Tommie Harris, Julius Peppers... Harris at least has age on his side. Man I'm tempted to bid on him, but he'll prob end up with 7 or 8 million per year... he went to the Lions at $7.5 million per year, 5 years. I didn't bid. Peppers went to the Broncos for 4 years, $30 million.

I also need to make sure I go after high health/durability guys...

The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded their 2010 4th and 6th round picks to the Carolina Panthers for CB Richard Marshall. We didn't get nearly the number of picks I hoped for, I think our top guy had 4. This guy will be a huge addition opposite Mathis, and will let Minter or Tryon develop further as the nickel. Cletis Gordon will go on the block.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded DT Mike Patterson to the Dolphins for WR Sinorice Moss. Mike underperformed since coming over from Philly in a trade. Sinorice has speed and hands, and return ability. He's got a good shot to make the roster.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded their 2010 2nd round pick for Eagles LE Victor Abiamiri. Victor is young, and has a 90 inj. He's an 84/87 - so that's a major upgrade for me and I can address the other side or DT in the draft early to really boost my Dline.

THE 2009 NFL DRAFT IS STARTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                            The 2009 NFL Draft

They wanted me to take Biff Below, QB, at #17 - dumbest name ever, and I don't want a QB. I need a DE/draft picks. There is a DT I like, Calvin Gordon - they have him mocked to the Giants at #29. Maybe I could trade down here... The DEs left aren't very impressive. I'm mocked for a TE, but I think I'm going to try to trade down a little and see if I can get Gordon, and a pick ?

The Jaguars have traded their 1st round pick, #17, to the Eagles for their #25 overall pick, a 2009 4th rd (121) and 2009 5th rd (139) If the Giants don't jump me, I got my guy and 2 more picks I desperately need. The Eagles took WR DJ Crosby - might be a sick combo with Reggie Brown and his 20 touchdowns! I got nervous and moved back up a little to #22...

Preseason game one - vs the Rams -- win 17-3

Backup QBs Charlie Batch and Mizell each threw a TD pass - Batch to Hastings and Mizell to Moss. We also had 4 sacks and a pick.

Traded a 2010 and 2011 3rd rounder to Dolphins for Tedd Ginn, and then traded Legedu Naanee to the Dolphins for a 2010 and 2011 5th rounders. Very excited to have Ginn on the team, Naanee is instantly the starter in Miam, whereas he'd be 4th on my squad now. Win/Win.

Vernon Gholston got cut, then signed with Kansas City! Didn't enter the bidding though, he got 1 year and $5.2 million! LOL! High pick to get cut, that hurts the cap!

                              Preseason game 2 - at the Redskins -- W 34-7

Batch had a TD to Hastings
Mizell had 2 TDs to Avery (and a pick)
Newly signed RB Steve Slaton had a rushing TD
Defense got 6 sacks and 2 picks!

Rookie LB Dexter Knox has an 88 POT, got the 'draft a sleeper approval boost'

Preseason game 3 - vs Tennesee! (are you kidding?) W 17-13

Charlie Batch had 2 TDs! One to Hastings and one to Hixon.
3 sacks (2 by Roderick Green) and 1 pick.

WR Ted Ginn hurt his elbow and will miss 3 weeks. Bummed he'll miss the season opener, but it'll be ok.

                              Preaseason game 4 - at Chicago - win! 7-6

Mizell tossed a TD to Marcedes Lewis, but also tossed a pick

Defense got 4 sacks and picked off former Jag David Garrard. Was nice to beat him, 'course the game doesn't count.

What's concerning is that Dixon didn't toss a TD all preseason, while Mizell threw 4 and Batch threw 4. Hastings has 3 TDs, not bad for an UDFA! Abiamiri has 5 sacks through the preseason, and last year's leading sacker Roderick Green has 4.

Found out our Season Opener is at the Arizona Cardinals...

I am promising to get over .500, though in my heart I want a wild card.

                                Week 1 preview:

The Arizona Cardinals (6-10 in 2008) drafted Matt Leinart in the first round a few years ago, and he's finally getting the chance to start. New Head Coach Tony Sparano says that Leinart is in command of the offense, and this is his team. RB Edgerrin James has over 12,000 career yards, but was hurt almost all of last year and one has to wonder if Father Time has won this battle. Of course, Fitzgerald and Boldin are the deadly duo in the receiving corps.

Last year's top pick, DE Calais Campbell spent a year behind Bertrand Berry, but was still able to pick up a sack in a reserve role. He's the starter this year, and is a freak of nature. Veteran Takeo Spikes bookended at OLB with last year's rookie Bruce Davis. Gerald Hayes remains in the middle.

                                My Approval sits at
My cap room is $40.39 million ($27.44 penalties, 24.75 incentives)

Final Cuts: RB Cory Boyd and LOLB Dan Cody - Cory just couldn't be that short yardage solution and has ball security issues; Dan just fell victim to numbers - and last year's rookie Tyrese Kent just does a few things better.

I'll get a depth chart up soon, just out of time right now...
