To pick up where I left off, Im now 6-5 (3-4) in the 2006 season. I lost a tough game to UVA 52-45, I was coming back from being down a ton early on, got a key stop with about a minute left, and put a nice drive together until Ahmad Brooks picked off Sexton's pass to seal it for UVA. The next game I rebounded and beat Miami 14-13 in a tough defensive game. My next game was at Notre Dame, #5 and they took it to me, I lost 35-17. Ive now got the Duke game coming up to end the season, with a win I might get in a bowl, but theres a ton of teams in the ACC in front of me, but I think the league gets 7 bowl invites, so I might get the 7th one. The inseason recruiting has gone really well for me. Ive been able to land a 4* DE, two 4* LBs, a 4* RB, a 4* FS, and another DE, this one a 3*. My defense should be pretty awesome in the next few years, so I ought to be able to get to the top of the ACC in my next couple of seasons.

Re: UNC Tar Heel Dynasty thread(if u are using them)
I finished my 2006 season with the Heels earlier tonight. I beat Duke pretty easily 52-14, an easy game and helped get my stats up even more. Mike Mason finished the season with 70 catches for 1734 yards and 19 TDs, with his speed, he could turn any small gain into a TD. Cameron Sexton had a good year at QB, nearly 4000 yards passing and 40 TDs. McGill only barely got over 1000 yards in our bowl game because he missed 5 games with a leg injury.
I finished the regular season 7-5 and with 4-4 conference record, thought I would be out of a bowl b/c I was in 7th in the ACC. Somehow I ended up in the Meineike Car Bowl in Charlotte against 7-4 Temple, and I whooped them 42-14. That gave me 8 wins on the year and we finished #22 overall heading into the offseaon.
In recruiting, I tried to focus more on local players from the Southeast, to keep it more realistic, I really dont want to have a team full of 99 overalls each year and win 15 titles in a row like I did in NCAA 2004. That got old pretty fast. Its my opinion that you ought not to be able to get the top recruiting class, then start 10 true freshmen at key spots and still win it all, thats just not realistic. Teams have done starting a few, but not 10 or more.
Anyways, I focused on NC mainly, there was a lot of quality talent there. I was able to land 2 top 10 rated receivers, 2 top 5 Athletes, a top 25 HB, and some more solid players all from my home state. I only got 16 recruits and 7 were from NC. Ohio has become a pipeline for me somehow and that state is always loaded with talent, probably the most behind Florida, California, and Texas. I was able to recruit pretty solidly out of the Southeast too. I got a top 5 RB from California, the #1 Guard in the country from New Hampshire and some more good players. Overall, my class was ranked #9 with 2 5*, 10 4*, 3 3*, and 1 2*.
It turned out though, that many of my freshmen were too raw to play right away, something thats never happended to me before. I redshirted the 2 HBs I landed, the 2 OLBs who I thought would start right away, and a 3 star DE who I thought would be a good player from his numbers. Cameron Sexton is now at 88 overall and after his huge freshman season is on the Heisman list. I did some changing of the schedule to get used to my new receiving corps and running backs, and I opened with Navy. They hung with me, I won 48-22 but it was really a lot closer than that. Sexton had a good game, but Barrington Edwards had 180+ on the ground in only 9 carries, but it was Navy. Next up is Idaho, then at USF, at Wake, and at State. Ive got a pretty good shot at a 5-0 start or 4-1 in the worst case.Founder/President of the OS Rams ClubComment

Re: UNC Tar Heel Dynasty thread(if u are using them)
Well I just played the Idaho game. I whooped them 59-21, pretty easy win. Now 2-0 on the year and ranked #20 overall.
Anyone else find that its really easy to get ranked in the top 10 for defense? Its pretty deceptive because even though I give up the least yards, it wasnt really relative because the opponent still scores points on me. I moved it up to 7 min quarters now to counterract that hopefully, so Im actually earning the defensive ranking. Sure enough, Idaho with 8 more minutes in the game total, moved the ball a lot more effectively because my players got tired.
Also anyone who has played using Jistic or Playmaker sliders set, which is better? I think for the 2008 season, Ill probably move to sliders.Founder/President of the OS Rams ClubComment

Re: UNC Tar Heel Dynasty thread(if u are using them)
I just played the third game of the 07 season at Vanderbilt. Another easy win, this one was 76-14. Barrington Edwards got his 100+ yards again, only on 11 carries, Im keeping him rested and healthy for the ACC season. His backup, Richie Rich played pretty well too, he got 150+ yards after taking at the start of the second half. I kept Cameron Sexton to boost his stats for the Heisman list, but I actually hurt them b/c I cant complete 80% or more of my passes regularly. I was trying out some new sliders (Jistics V4) and passing was a lot harder, although the stats might not show it; 14/33 324 yards 6 TDs. After that game, the headline on the "Heisman Watch" section of SI read: "Not Making the Grade: North Carolina's QB Sexton looked like a sure thing, but is proving otherwise." Gees, I only threw for 6 TDs and they dropped me from the list. That doenst really bug me that much though, we're 3-0 now and have a huge early season game coming up. My next game is at Winston-Salem vs. #15 Wake Forest, how they got to 15th, I dont know, but Ben Mauk can play and will probably do a lot better than Vandy's QB did against my weak secondary (3/12 3 yds, 3 INT).Founder/President of the OS Rams ClubComment

Re: UNC Tar Heel Dynasty thread(if u are using them)
After Game 4 vs Wake, Im now 4-0 with a 63-7 win over the #15 Deacons. They got the toss and received, but I stopped em quick and put a touchdown up really quick to lead 7-0. Then came the biggest play of the game. Wake was marching down the field about to tie it up at 7 all, and their QB, Ben Mauk, hit another wide open receiver, only this time my impact LB Hilee Taylor flattened the receiver, knocking the ball loose, and Quinton Person picked it up and took it 87 yards to make it 14-0. On the next Wake possesion, Taylor picked off Mauk's pass and brought it back to the Wake 10. From then on, it was all Carolina, 56 unanswered points before Wake scored late in the 4th quarter. Hilee Taylor had a career game, with 11 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 pass deflections, and an interception. I moved up to #19 in the country and now Im at #23 NC State this week, should be a tough game.
I played this game on default AA to decide whether the whole slider scene was really for me or not, before this game, I was getting beaten regularly by the computer, but the CPU didnt even challenge me in this one. Im probably moving to sliders from here on out, either Playmakers or JIstics, havent decided yet.Founder/President of the OS Rams ClubComment

Re: UNC Tar Heel Dynasty thread(if u are using them)
Played the next 3 games of my 2007 season (at State, at Ga. Tech, at Va. Tech).
I lost at State 58-37. I led at the half but State seriously scored about 6 TDs in a row and ran away with the game. It was a tough loss to swallow, coming in I thought this would be the year I get over the hump and beat State, and the first half looked like it was. The second half, Marcus Stone was unstoppable and #26 (Washington?) ran all over me for nearly 200 yards.
I went down to Atlanta now ranked #23 in the country at 4-1 against a tough GT team that was 1-2 but ranked #27. The first half was tight, but my powerful running combo of Barrington Edwards and Richie Rich led severl long drives in the second half, and we pulled away to win 45-24.
I just finished the game at VT, it was a great game. The first half was a defensive struggle, but I managed to score a TD just before time expired to have a 17-6 lead at halftime. I thought I had the momentum and would add to my lead in the second half, but that wasnt to be. Their runningback, Mike or George Bell, cant remember the first name, went off in the second half. He ran over my defense for nearly 200 yards and their defense shut down Barrington Edwards. They have two stud linebackers who are both high 90's overall who wouldnt let me get anything going offensively. With 4 minutes to go in the game, I trailed 27-20. Cameron Sexton led a slow, deliberate Tar Heel drive, and with just over a minute left, hit a true freshman receiver in back corner of the end zone to tie it up. Virginia Tech then decided to throw the ball, something they didnt do well all game, and went 3 and out. I caught the punt at my own 25 and Barrington Edwards brought it to our 40 with about 20 seconds to go. I hit Kenton Thornton on a big gain to about the 35. I have Connor Barth, whose a great kicker, but there was a 30 mph wind right in my face, so I had to get closer. I got another completion to my true freshman wideout to the 29, in normal range, but it would still be a tough kick with 8 seconds to go. My pass to Thornton that would have gotten us to the 10 for an easy kick sailed wide, stopping the clock with 3 seconds. I brought out the field goal unit and Barth nailed the kick as time expired to win 30-27.
Now my record is 6-1 and 3-1 in the conference and Im now at 15th overall in the polls. Barrington Edwards was leading the Heisman race with about 900 yards rushing through seven games, but now Cameron Sexton has taken the lead. He has nearly 2000 yards passing and 25 TD passes to 5 INTs right now, but his completion rate is terrible, like 53% because of bad passes and too many drops by young receivers. The SI headline was "Unusual Suspect: Sexton takes Heisman lead after 11-24 256 yard, 3 TD performance vs. Virginia Tech". I think Sexton would be having a lot better season if the receivers would catch the ball more often, the reason he's got so many yards is a lot of the times, receivers will break one or run deep and make the catch. Kenton Thornton, my leading receiver has a catch average of about 25 yards.Founder/President of the OS Rams ClubComment

I havent posted in a long time about my dynasty, Ive been out of town and hadnt gotten to play, but Ill update it. I finished the 2007 season 9-3 ranked #12 in the country, I lost 2 tough games to Virginia and Miami, the latter would go on to win it all. With a 5-3 conference record, I ended up in the Champ Sports Bowl against a very good Ohio State team and beat them soundly 38-13.
I extended my contract another 3 years and took off on recruiting. I really am liking the pipelines, its cool in my opinion to focus on recruiting players from the states where the real Heels really get their players. Its also cool that at this point my roster isnt made up of players from all over the country, mainly players from NC and the Southeast. I landed another top 10 class, including the #1 RB overall who was from Macon, GA, yet I was able to steal him from Ga. Tech and UGA. I also signed an incredibly fast wideout from Davidson, NC with 99 speed who was only a 3*. I made him all time kick returner and he took a kickoff and 2 punts back for scores against App. State in the 2008 opener. The kid can catch too though, and he had a solid game receiving in a blowout win. I entered the 2008 season ranked #5 nationally, but I have a brutal schedule, including road games at #13 Colorado, #3 Miami, and #9 UVA, and home for #14 Notre Dame, yikes. I think this might be my most talented team yet though, and it definitely has a shot at winning most if not all of those games. My prediction for the season is 10-2 and probably the Gator or Peach bowl, unless we get lucky and go to the BCSFounder/President of the OS Rams ClubComment

Re: UNC Tar Heel Dynasty thread(if u are using them)
Just finished the 2008 season last night. It was a great year for the Tar Heels but we fell one game short of a national title. I ran the table during the regular season, going 13-0 and winning the ACC despite a brutal schedule. Every game against a good team I played was tight though because my defense is terrible (not so much the players, but my actual ability to stop the CPU offense). We had about 5 wins by 3 points that were shootouts, for example I beat NC State 59-56 and Maryland in the ACC title game 49-46. Cameron Sexton had a great year, winning all the major awards including the Heisman. My center won the Rimington for the 3rd straight season and my left tackle took home OL of the Year, his 3rd in a row. My team had 11 1st team All-Americans for the year, Sexton, the entire offensive line, my TE, 2 WRs, and a few defensive players.
We had all that going for us heading into the title game vs. #1 Florida. In the polls I was #3 behind Oklahoma and we were tied in the computer rankings, but the game put me in the title game thanks to my tough schedule. Florida had the #2 offense all season, behind me, and I had a feeling this would be the game where my lax defense caught up with me. The game was even through 3 quarters, 31-31, neither team could stop the others offense effectively. Then Florida took a 38-31 on yet another TD pass, but this time when Im on offense, they intercept Cameron Sexton for another TD, now leading 45-31. From there it was never close because every time they had the ball, they scored. I ended up losing 66-45, that one hurt.
After the season, I was offered jobs from Notre Dame, USC, or a 6 year extension at Carolina. I took the extension.
Going into 2009, I landed the #1 overall recruiting class, but only one of the recruits will actually see any time on the field this season. Thats because I return 9 of 11 starters on offense, only losing Kenton Thornton, who was a great receiver, but Ive got plenty of talent to fall back on, and my worst offensive lineman to graduation. On defense, I return 10 of 11 starters, only losing a mediorce defensive end, replaced by the #1 overall blue chip end from this years recruiting. Normally, a team that was that good last year returning that many starters would be a favorite for the title, but not this year. Florida returns nearly everyone also, including their QB who threw for 56 TDs last year as a true sophomore. Were preseason #2 behind the Gators, so barring an upset along the way, we'll be playing them for the title again.Founder/President of the OS Rams ClubComment
