Issues with the Spurrier offense, Gamecocks still prevail

Columbia, SC- The Steve Spurrier Era in South Carolina has begun, but looked very shaky. Blake Mitchell struggled to hit his receivers and it showed as the crowd became very impatient with him. He was 11/35 for 245 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions but he could have completed atleast 12 of those 24 incompletions. The Gamecocks surprising ran the ball extremely well against UCF, with true freshman Mike Davis rushing 14 times for 233 yards and an 82 yard touchdown. Ko Simpson was the leader of the defense, with 7 tackles and an interception. The Gamecocks won this one 41-17.
