The Avalanche received some bad news late Friday night in Edmonton, as they learned that star forward Milan Hejduk will miss 1-2 weeks with a broken right hand. Steve Konowalchuk will move up to replace Hejduk on the lines he normally plays on, and the scratched Claude Lemieux will dress to fill in in Konowalchuk's normal spots.Comment

Re: Colorado Avalanche (NHL 2K6)
Good god, NOTHING goes my way anymore...apparently in my sheer stupidity, I picked SEASON instead of FRANCHISE...so I'm just going to restart with Colorado really quick and sim up to where I'm at now. Frustrating, but no biggie I guess...Comment

Re: Colorado Avalanche (NHL 2K6)
Injury News
The Avalanche received some devasting news Wednesday, as the injury Milan Hejduk suffered late vs. Edmonton turned out to be a broken arm. He is expected to miss 2-4 months, and he leaves a gaping hole in the Avs' lineup. GM Brian Kudron may be forced into making some kind of deal to acquire a forward.Comment

Trade News
Volume 1, Issue 4
DENVER, CO--With Milan Hejduk's arm in a cast, the Avalanche desperately needed a quality forward to put points on the board.
They did one better.
The Avs sent forward Steve Konowalchuk, defenseman Karlis Skrastins, and their first round draft pick west to Anaheim in exchange for a pair of former Avs, star forward Teemu Selanne and veteran defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh.
Ozolinsh, now in his 13th year at age 33, played for the Avalanche from 1995-96 through 1999-2000. He was a pivotal part in Colorado's 1995-96 championship run, registering 19 points in 22 playoff games. He will join Rob Blake on the Avs' #1 defensive pairing.
Selanne on the other hand, had a forgettable single year Denver in 2003-04. He came over from San Jose with former Anaheim teammate Paul Kariya after the 2003-2003 season and, combined with Joe Sakic, Alex Tanguay, Milan Hejduk and Peter Forsberg, the Avs' offense was supposed to be unstoppable. But Kariya missed 31 games and had only 36 points, while Selanne was even worse, playing in 78 games and mustering only 32 points. Now back with Colorado, he will play with Sakic and Tanguay on the first line.
The Avalanche plays the first of two consecutive home games vs. Vancouver Thursday.Comment
