Opening Segment-

Shane Mcmahon comes down to the ring to welcome fans to the new and IMPROVED Smackdown Brand of the WWE. He starts off by saying a new cruiserweight champ will be crowned but that isn't even the best thing to happen tonight. He calls, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Big Show, Kane, and HBK down to the ring. Shane says he knows all eight are deserving of the Heavyweight Championship but only one man can be crowned. He then makes an unprecdented move in saying he will hold a Chase For The Gold Tournament. Two matches this week, next week, and the week after with it all leading up to Philadelphia, PA and The Great American Bash. The bracket will goes as follows.

Triple H
Chris Benoit

Randy Orton
Kane

Kurt Angle
Big Show

HBK
Chris Jericho

Shane then goes on to announce that the matches to happen tonight would be Triple H and Benoit and HBK and Chris Jericho. Shane went on to say that Kane and Big Show would take on Randy Orton and Kurt Angle in a tag team match so they will remain active this week and not gain an unfair advantage.

1st Match Chris Masters Vs Booker T
The match went back and forth during the first part. Booker T landed two straight kicks to the head. Chris Masters put three submissions holds to Booker but he wouldn't give up. Booker came back with a few nice suplexs but when Chris elbowed Booker to reverse a move and put the Master Lock on Booker and he couldn't tough it out and Booker T gave up. After the match Chris Masters didn't accept a handshake from Booker and grabbed the mic and said he felt very disrespected from not getting his shot in the Chase For The Gold Tournament.

Winner: Chris Massters

2nd Match Randy Orton and Kurt Angle vs Kane and Big Show
The match started out with everyone in full control, but it quickly became a street brawl. The legal man was fighting the illegal man on both teams. Order was restored and and Kane had Kurt Angle right where he wanted him, Show came into the ring and chokeslammed Angle. Kane went for the 3 but got only a two count because Orton kicked Kane to break up the 3 count. An all-out brawl ensued. Angle went out and got a chair and while the ref was warning Show to get back to his corner Angle was about to hit the ref with a chair. Kane grabbed and threw the ref out of the way of Angle's chair shot but the ref called the match a DQ because of Kane grabbing him. Kane and Show looked in disbelief as Angle and Orton celebrated.

Winner: Randy Orton and Kurt Angle (DQ)

3rd Match HBK Vs Chris Jericho
The match started off back and forth with the advantage for HBK. Jericho quickly gained some momentum and started working HBk's torso. Jericho put on the Walls of Jericho HBK got close to tapping but showed some heart and got out of it. HBK went on the offensive and landed some good shots in but then Jericho got a chair. HBK was able to kick it out of his hands but Jericho quickly reversed a move and put on the Walls Of Jericho and again and this time HBK couldn't get out of it. HBK tapped and then Jericho beat him after the bell until the ref seperated them.

Winner: Chris Jericho

4th Match Rey Myesterio Vs Tajiri (Crusierweight Championship)
This one got off to a fast start. Back and forth. Tajiri hit his finisher early on to Rey to tap out at a count of two. Rey then took control. Rey hit a 619 for a pin and the win and won the Cruiserweight Title.

Winner: Rey Mysterio Cruiserweight Champion

Interview: Triple H
Triple H said he was very confident in his match against Benoit and predicted nothing less than a victory against Benoit and in the tournament in the Chase For The Gold. He left by saying he would win at all costs.

Match 5: Triple H Vs Chris Benoit
This match was highly anticipated by all fans. Triple H started out with a strong hold on the match. Hey got suplex after suplex. Chris Masters ran in to prove he deserved to be in the tournament. He got Triple H's patented sledge hammer and was going to nail Triple H with it but instead Triple H ducked and he hit Benoit. Triple H then got the easy Pedigree and the cover for the win. Smackdown went off the air with Triple H celebrating.

Winner: Triple H (via Chris Masters Interference)

OFFICIAL SMACKDOWN PREVIEW

Last week Smackdown went off the air with Triple H beating Chris Benoit but not before Chris Masters interfered trying to take out Triple H. How will Triple H and Benoit act to this act that cost Benoit the match. We know Shane has already signed a match between Benoit and Masters for Friday.

Rey Mysterio will defend his title against a mystery opponent on Friday also.

How will HBK react to his loss and Chris Jericho taking advantage of his injury after the match.

Find out the answers to these and many other questions Friday at 8P.M. Eastern.

Opening Segment:

Smackdown opens with HBK coming downt to the ring to address the way his match ended last Friday. HBK said that Chris Jericho beathing him up after the bell was a class less move and that he vows revenge on Chris. Shawn challenges Chris to a match tonight! Jericho's music hits and he comes down to the ring to confront the situation. Jericho says that he doesn't have to waste his time with HBK because he's still in the tournament and HBK isn't. Jericho says he just can't get over that he needs help winning the title pointing to Wrestlemania and Survivor Series of 1997.HBK is enragaged and says they should fight right then..............Shane Mcmahon's music hits and he gets into the ring in between them. Shane says it's true that Chris is still in the tournament but points out Chris and HBK are free tonight for a match. HBK immediately agrees to the match but Chris declines stating that he's already beat Shawn and has nothing to prove. Shane then states that if he doesn't compete he'll spot will be forefited in the Chase For The Gold Tournament. Chris walks out of the ring without saying anything in response to Shane.

Match 1: Cruiserweight Championhip Match Rey Mysterio(c) v. Mystery Opponent
Rey Mysterio entered and everyone was then anticipating his challenger. The Hurricane's music hit to everyone's surprise. The Hurricane came out and was in control early. He gained enought momentum and hit The Eye of The Hurricane but Rey got up immediately and gained enought momentum to hit a 619. The Hurricane kicked out on a 2and half count. Hurricane then started to string moves together and hit anothe Eye of The Hurricane for the 3 count. Rey was shocked by the result. He could only watch as a new champ was crowned.

Winner: New Cruiserweight Champion The Hurricane

Match 2: Chase For The Gold Quarterfinal Big Show vs. Kurt Angle
The match started going back and forth. Big Show put on a few huge manuevers to get the crowd behind him. But then Angle started to work his magic and was able to almsot connect on Angle Slam but it was countered and Show flipped him right over him. Angle then put Show into a series of submission attempts but to no avail. Show reversed a manuever and was able to put Angle into a bearhug and Show wouldn't relenquish it and the Angle give up to it. Big Show advances to the semis.

Promo: Triple H
Triple H came to the ring and got on the mic. He said he was very pissed off about what Chris tried to do in his match. He said it was better he beat Benoit but said Masters ended the match prematurely and he would have done more damage than the sledgehammer would have ever done.Triple H then said he would let Chris go for now and forgive him but not to let it happen again or he'll make him pay. He went on to say he is really the only real champion competeing in the tournament and should be considered the best by everyone in the building. Trips then said he would be doing commentary at ring side for the match with Randy Orton against Kane later tonight. He left by saying it was a done deal that he would be in Philadelphia in the title match.

Match 3: Chris Masters vs Chris Benoit
Chris Masters came out and immediately started to pound Benoit. Benoit start some offense but it seemed like everything was reversed. Benoit gained some offense late but it was to late. Matsters put on a the masterlock but Benoit got to ropes but he wouldn't break the hold and he pulled Benoit to the middle of the ring and applied a sleeper hold and Benoit's arm dropped three times ending the match.

Winner: Chris Masters via sleeper hold

Match 4: Chase For The Gold Quarterfinal Randy Orton vs Kane
The match started off slow but quickly became a slug fest. They went back and forth the whole match. Orton countered grapple after grapple and so did Kane. Orton quickly got tired after every offensive assault and had to go out of the ring for a breather. Kane got the crowd behind him and started to take it to him hard. Orton hit his finisher but was to tired to cover Kane and that was ultimately his downfall Kane fought back and landed a chokeslam and pinned Orton for the win. This sets up Kane vs Triple H next week on Smackdown. Kane went over to where Triple H was sitting at the announce booth and they had a stare down and Triple H spit right in his face. Kane reached over the table for Triple H but security got in the way.

Match 5: HBK vs Chris Jericho
This match was highly anticiapted to see whether Jericho would come to the ring. HBK came to the ring and then Jericho's music hit and nothing and about a minute later everyone saw Jericho strolling down to the ring looking perturbed that he needed to wrestle tonight. He quickly got into the match though, HBK started quick and within a few minutes hit a Sweet Chin Music. He covered Jericho but didn't get the three count. Jericho started his offensive asault but that was countered by another Sweet Chin Music by HBK. He got to a two and a half count but still no win. Jerich tried to amount more offensive but the crowd got behind HBK and he hit his third Sweet Chin Music. This time he got the three count to the crowd's delight. Smackdown went off the air as HBK was celebrating his revenge victory.

Winner: HBK via Sweet Chin Music

Official Smackdown Preview

Last week we saw Kane and Big Show advance to the Semifinals in the Chase For The Gold Tournament. This week we'll have the semifinals and we'll know which two superstars are facing off at The Great American Bash in Philadelphia.

Shawn Michaels got his revenge against Chris Jericho last week we'll see how Chris does in his match against The Big Show this week.

Triple H and Kane had a huge staredown last week while Triple H was at the announce table we'll see which one of them will be going to The Great American Bash main event.

Doug and Danny Basham sent an e-mail to Shane Mcmahon what was that about?

We know Chirs Benoit and Shane Mcmahon had a close door meeting after Smackdown on Friday, we'll we find out about it on Smackdown in Trenton, New Jersey.

Also Rey Mysterio will face Tajiri to be number 1 contender for the Crusierweight Championship.

Catch Smackdown this Friday on UPN 8et.

Promo: Triple H
Triple H came to the ring to talk about his match against Kane tonight. He said that this would be the most boring match of the night because of the way he would dominate it. He said he would forgive Kane if he just didn't show up tonight because he's just to motivated. The arena then got darker and fire rose fromt he turnbuckles scaring Triple H. Kane started walking down the ramp towards the ring and then Triple H started tauning Kane. Kane stepped into the ring and the men were face to face. Kane then lifted up his hands and threw them down to make fire come up from the ring posts and walked away.

Match 1: Cruiserweight Number 1 Contender Match: Rey Mysterio vs Tajiri
This match started off fast. Going back and forth there were plent high risk moves in this match. Rey gained enough momentum and went for the 619 but Tajiri moved out of the way just in time. Then they started brawling trading punch after punch. Tajiri then threw Rey out of the ring they started fighting outside the ring. Rey went to the top of the baricade and landed a crossbody on Tajiri. Tajiri then started to counter every Rey move then he went on top of the baricade with Rey woozy and then......Ding Ding. The match was over due to a double countout. Both competitors were very mad and started arguing with the refs.

Winner: Draw (Via Double Countout)

Backstage: Randy Orton and Kurt Angle
Randy and Kurt were talking about how they had pushover matchups tonight and how they didn't mean anything. They said they were the top two superstars in Smackdown.

Match 2: Randy Orton vs Spike Dudley
This was Randy's match early. Randy kept hitting big moves on Spike. Randy took Tajiri off the top rope for a Superplex. He started to put submisision moves on Spike. Randy hit a RKO and went for a pin and got a 2 and half count. Randy looked stunned Spike then started an assault. He did everything to counter Orton. He then went for a crossbody off the top rope and Randy caught him in mid-air and threw him to the ground. When Spike stumbled to his feet Randy hit a RKO for the three count and Randy went on to celebrate.

Winner: Randy Orton

Match 3: Big Show vs Chris Jericho Chase For The Gold Semifinal
This match was very well recieved by the fans. Big Show started taking control of the match early. Big Show hit some very athletic manuevers for a big guy. Big Show was able to hit his finisher but Jericho kicked out at 2, Jericho then fought back. he did an amazing slam on Show comparable to the one from Hogan to Andre the Giant. But then all of a sudden Show got his second wind. He hit a few punches and hit his finisher again this time for the three. The crowd went wild. Jericho then got up and started to pound the Show. He threw Show to the ground and got the Walls of Jericho on him. Three refs and security guards were in the ring trying to break up the hold. HBK ran down to save Show knocking Jericho off of Show and then hit a Sweet Chin Music. Then the security guards and refs tried to seperate the two. Everything was interuppted by Shane's music hitting Shane came out to the ramp and said that this cannot go on and this feud needs to be settled between the two. Shane said there would be a match at Great American Bash between Chris Jericho and HBK and it would be a No Holds Barred match. The crowd went nuts.

Winner: Big Show

Promo: Chris Masters and Chris Benoit

Chris Msaters came down to the ring and talked about how much of a better wrestler he was then Benoit and that the match last week proved he should be a top title contender. Benoit then came down to the ring. Bneoit said that he doesn't know if your really a top superstar yet. Benoit said taht all of Master's wins always involve cheating and dishonesty. Bneoit said he thinks he can beat Masters but the only way ot do that would be if the match was for god and masters wouldn't cheat because to much would be on the line. Bneoit said he talked to Shane and Shane agreed to schedule a match at Great American Bash between Chris Benoit and Chris Masters for the U.S. Championship. Chris Masters agreed and guaranteed a victory.

Backstage: Doug and Danny Basham
Doug and Danny Basham are in Shane's office and Shane is saying to them that their proposition for a Tag Title Match at Great American Bash is a great idea and that he watnts to do it. Shane went on to say he has found a pair that will face them and that next week they will find out when each one of them as singles match with one of the partners on the opposing teams.

Match 4: Kurt Angle vs Chavo Guerrero
Kurt Angle came into this match very cocky. Chavo came in to a huge ovation for him as the underdog. Kurt Angle started off with the upperhand. He was hitting suplex after suplex. The crowd booed every move Angle made. Chavo began to fight back and counter what seemed like every Angle move. The crowd was estatic with every move Chavo was able to land. This seemed very even, even though there was a substantial size and skill differential. Chavo went up to the top rope and even hit a superplex. The crowd broke out in a "Let's go Chavo" chant many times but Angle started come back into the fight and started gaining ground. Angle put on many submissions. Angle then hit a superplex of the top rope and went for the pin 1...2....and kick out. Chavon go this second wind and fought back. They started going at it in the outside of the ring. Angle threw Chavo into the baricade many times and times and started taunting him. When they returned to the ring Chavo fought and fought. But this time Angle countered a move to a Fireman's carry and dropped him to the ground and 1...2...3. Angle got the win to a chorus of boos.

Winner: Kurt Angle

Backstage: Randy Orton and Kurt Angle
Randy Orton and Kurt Angle are seen in Shane's office and look disgruntled. Shane walks in and asks what the problem is they say that these matches were a joke and they wanted real ones and they wanted meaning in their matches. Shane came back and said that neither looked to good in their showing tonight and if they wanted a meanginful match they could get one at Great American Bash but this wouldn't be any match this would be a 1 on 1 matchup between.....Kurt Angle and Randy Orton. Shane said there was one major stipulation and that was that the loser would be FIRED.

Match 5: Triple H vs Kane Chase For The Gold Semifinal
This match was the most anticipated after the staredown earlier. Triple H started out in control and on top the matchup hitting move after move. Kane then started to show some great flashes and began to counter Triple H's moves. Kane began to heavily assault Triple H and it looked like the end but then Triple H went for an Irish Whip and whipped Kane into the corner where the ref was....the ref was knocked out. Kane continued his amazing assault. He then threw Triple H right out of the ring. Kane picked Tirple H off the ground and grabbed his neck for the Chokeslam he was about to pick up Triple H and finish the move when Triple H grabbed a chair and hit Kane and he let go of the hold. Triple H then wound up and hit Kane with a hard blow to head with the chair and dented it. Triple H then threw Kane back into the ring when Kane got back up Triple H lined up for the Pedigree and hit it. The ref slowly was able to gather himself and was able to count the three. Triple H celebrated to a chorus of boos.

Both Danny and Doug Basham will have matches and find out their opponents for Tag Team Title Match at Great American Bash.

How will Kurt Angle and Randy Orton react to knowing their jobs are on the line at Great American Bash.

Shane Mcmahon has a special match planned for Friday and find out all the matches for Great American Bash on Friday 8et on UPN.
