    Bulldogs 11-0

BULLDOGS 11-0 AFTER FINISHING NON-CONF. SCHEDULE

The Georgia Bulldogs are off to an 11-0 start for the first time in school history. Coach Lewis Witherspoon continues to have a midas touch, turning mediorce teams into winners. The Bulldogs offensive production has picked up quite a bit, as the 'Dawgs are now scoring more points from their half court sets than from fast breaks. Junior PG Brian Walker has become the leader of the offense, averaging a cool 8.7 ppg and 6.7assists per game. Witherspoon has made a star out of Jr. SF Brian Ramelli. Ramelli is now fourth in the nation in scoring with 16.3 ppg. The Bulldogs really began to play when Coach Witherspoon showed the team just how much he cared about his players. In the Texas A&M game, (a 71-54 win), Witherspoon stormed the court angrily, demanding a flagrant foul on the A&M power forward, who continued to give Georgia's PF Leon Miller sharp elbows, and on one occasion knocked him down, causing Miller to leave the game with a severely swollen ankle. Witherspoon was screaming in the ref's face, "Come on ref!!! Give that jerk a tech, that chump did that on purpose. You can't stand by while that maniac injures my players!!!". For his comments, Witherspoon earned a technical and almost caused a brawl between both teams, but he had won the respect of his team. The players now knew that their coach would stand up for them, they were willing to go to war with this man to take home the SEC title. "It's an outrage that he (the referee) let them (Texas A&M) get away with that type of play. That type of stuff belongs in a wrestling ring, not on the court", said Witherspoon after the game. "I was almost tossed, but I will willingly be ejected for the sake of my players." Since that game, Georgia has looked rejuvenated and has walloped every team with a renewed vigor. Although none of the opponnents were very good teams, the 11 straight wins give the Bulldogs a huge confidence boost heading into SEC play. The Bulldogs open the SEC schedule this week with games vs. LSU and Florida.

It\'s Been A Long Time But I\'m Back

      WITHERSPOON TAKES DRAKE JOB

Lewis Witherspoon, a very successful young coach at Georgia, has stepped down and accepted the job at Drake, a small school in the Missori Valley Conference. Witherspoon steps down after ten successful seasons at Georgia and two national championships. "It was time for me to leave, I'd been there long enough and I was losing my enthusiasm for the job. I was just burned out, I loved it there but I really wanted to start over at a smaller school and the good people at Drake gave me that oppurtinity. I hope that I'll be able to finish off my coaching career here, out of the spotlight of a bigtime conference. I'm now 55 years old and I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to be able to do this (coaching)," Witherspoon said at his press conference. Don't expect Witherspoon to be coaching a sub-par team though, he takes over a Drake team that came off a 20-11 season last year and won the Missouri Valley Conference.

          End of Non-Conference Schedule

WITHERSPOON TAKES DRAKE INTO TOP 25

In his first year at Drake, Lewis Witherspoon has taken the Drake Bulldogs into the top 25, something the Bulldogs have never done in team history. They finished up their 2014-2015 non-conference schedule 9-0 with a 76-61 win over the Virginia Cavaliers. Senior SG Ross Richardson has had a monster season so far, averaging 27.5 ppg through nine games, and now leads the nation in scoring. The Bulldogs are ranked #16 in the nation and open up their conference schedule at Southern Illinois.
