            Warriors Cruise Past Lakers

            Lakers 81 @ Warriors 108

AP- On the second night of a back to back, the Lakers just didn't seem to have the shooters' touch in a 108-81 loss to the Golden St. Warriors. The Warriors were led by Joe Johnson's 23 points on 9-18 shooting while Shaquille O'Neal led the Lakers with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

"We were on fire in the 1st quarter." said Joe Johnson after the game. "We hit 7 of 8 to open the game and didn't look back."

After Shane Battier missed the Warriors' first shot from the field, they proceeded to make their next 7 shots and never trailed after that. The Lakers, meanwhile, came out shooting only 2-10, but but salvaged the quarter, finishing 10-20 from the field. The Warriors got great production from their bench which scored 46 points, led by Delonte West's 11 points on 4-8 shooting, including 2-3 from 3 pt. range.

            Lakers(1-1)

            FG %: 33-78 (42%)
            FT: 12-20 (60 %)
            3 Pt: 3-15 (20%)
            Nene: 17 pts, 6 reb.
            Shaquille O'Neal: 15 pts, 15 reb, 5 PF
James Posey: 13 pts, 8 reb.
Latrell Spreewell: 11 pts, 4 ast, 3 stl.
Raymond Felton: 8 pts, 7 ast.

            Warriors(1-0)

            FG %: 46-74 (62%)
            FT: 12-19 (63 %)
            3 Pt: 4-8 (50%)
Joe Johnson: 23 pts, 5 ast.
Dwight Howard: 18 pts, 3 reb.
            Delonte West: 11 pts, 2-3 3 pt.
            T.J. Ford: 11 pts, 7 ast, 2 stl.
Reggie Evans: 4 pts, 8 reb, 5 ast.

            Game notes:
            • I was abusing them down low on the offensive end, but I gave them way too many 2nd chance opportunities while I was on defense.
            • Joe Johnson was 6-10 shooting in the 1st half, but cooled down some in the 2nd half, only shooting 3-8 from the field.
            • Both teams sucked at the FT line.
            • My FG % was almost better than my FT %. :y4:

              Warriors Steamroll Blazers

              Blazers 77 @ Warriors 113

AP- For the second straight game, the Golden St. Warriors have beaten their opponent by 20+ points. Tonight, it was the the Portland Trailblazers who were the victim of the beat-down. Behind Dwight Howard's 21 point and 10 rebound performance, the Warriors were able to start the season off with 2 consecutive wins.

After the game, Dwight Howard was excited, but very humble about the second straight blowout win. "We knew we could pound these guys down low. Chris (Wilcox) and I were able to take advantage of their big guys tonight and hopefully it will carry over."

Again, it was the Warriors bench that came up huge. Delonte West scored 19 points and dished out 3 assists while Chris Wilcox scored 17 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. Francisco Garcia also had a strong performance off the bench, scoring 11 points and forcing 2 turnovers.

              Blazers(1-1)

              FG %: 32-75 (42%)
              FT: 9-12 (75 %)
              3 Pt: 4-14 (28%)
Richard Hamilton: 26 pts, 4 ast.
Charlie Villanueva: 26 pts, 6 reb, 3 ast.
Darius Miles: 10 pts, 10 ast, 4 reb.
Chris Paul: 5 pts, 5 ast, 3 stl, 5 PF
Dan Gadzuric: 4 pts, 5 reb.

              Warriors(2-0)

              FG %: 45-77 (58%)
              FT: 19-26 (73 %)
              3 Pt: 4-11 (36%)
Dwight Howard: 21 pts, 10 reb, 4 ast, 3 stl.
Joe Johnson: 19 pts, 3 ast, 2 stl.
Delonte West: 19 pts, 7-9 FT.
Chris Wilcox: 17 pts, 3 reb.
Chris Kaman: 5 pts, 10 reb, 2 stl. 1 blk.

              Game Notes:
              • Dwight Howard is a monster.
              • Not one of my five starters logged a minute in the 4th quarter in either game.
              • Delonte West out-performed T.J. Ford again. Is Ford in jeopardy of losing the starting PG role?
              • I only allowed 5 offensive rebounds, which was a big reason I blew them out by so much.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's the competition I've played or me. Maybe I should bump it up to HOF.

Edit: I've noticed that it's much harder for me when I'm on the road. A few of my upcoming games are away, so it'll probably even out.

                    Warriors Hammered By Jazz

                    Warriors 93 @ Jazz 108
AP- Behind Ron Artest's 35 points, the Utah Jazz were able to beat the then undefeated Golden St. Warriors. Offensive rebounds were the key in this one. The Jazz pulled down 17 offensive rebounds to the Warriors' 3, which led to them taking 24 more shots from the field.

"I was really pleased with our team's performance tonight." said an elated Ron Artest after the game. "We crashed the offensive boards and were able to convert on our second chances."

The numbers from 3-point range really tell the story on how this one went. The Jazz were able to shot 9-19 from behind the arc to the Warriors' measly 1-6. Ron Artest was 3-5, Brent Barry was 2-4, and J.R. Smith was 3-5 from deep.

                    Warriors(2-1)

                    FG %: 40-70 (57%)
                    FT: 12-19 (63 %)
                    3 Pt: 1-6 (16%)
Joe Johnson: 31 pts, 3 ast, 14-28 shooting.
Dwight Howard: 17 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast.
                    T.J. Ford: 16 pts, 4 ast.
Shane Battier: 9 pts, 1 ast.
Chris Kaman: 5 pts, 9 reb, 2 stl.

                    Jazz(2-1)

                    FG %: 43-94 (45%)
                    FT: 13-18 (72 %)
                    3 Pt: 9-19 (47%)
Ron Artest: 35 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast.
Brent Barry: 18 pts, 2 ast.
Derek Fisher: 16 pts, 8 ast, 2 stl.
                    J.R. Smith: 15 pts, 5 ast, 3-5 3 pt.
                    Brad Miller: 8 pts, 14 reb(7 off.), 7 ast, 2 stl.
Kevin Garnett: 4 pts, 14 reb, 4 ast.

                    Game Notes:
                    • I couldn't grab a defensive rebound in the second half to save my live.
                    • I can't let the other team shoot 24 more shots than me. I'll probably lose. I'm actually surprised my controller survived the sequence in which KG and Brad Miller grabbed 6 offensive rebounds in a row.
                    • I could see the effects of the back-to-back in the 4th quarter. Progressive Fatigue is a really nice addition to Association Mode.
                    • Since when is Ron Artest an offensive juggernaut?

                    * I think I need to alter my sliders a little bit. There is no way I should be shooting 58% in these games.

                        Mavs Handle Warriors

                        Warriors 74 @ Mavericks 82

AP- Fueled by Dirk Nowitzki's 26 points and 12 rebounds, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Golden St. Warriors to move to 3-0 in the early part of this season.

"They gave me some room from mid-range and I made them pay." said Nowitzki. "Tony (Parker) really set me up with some great looks and I hit the shots. All of those hard hours in the gym during the off-season are really paying off."

For the Warriors, this was their second straight loss on the road. It isn't going to get any easier for them as they now head east to New Orleans to take on the Hornets.

                        Warriors(2-2)

                        FG %: 30-76 (39%)

Eddie Griffin: 0 pts, 7 reb, 3 blk.

                        Mavericks(3-0)

Rudy Gay: 13 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast.
                        Ben Wallace: 11 pts, 25 reb(6 off.), 3 stl.
Tony Parker: 10 pts, 12 ast, 4 reb.

                        Game Notes:
                        • Ben Wallace killed me on the boards.

                        • Dirk played just like Dirk IRL.

                        • After shooting such a high FG% the past few games, the tweaking to the sliders really helped.
                        • Tony Parker and Dirk were running a pick and roll all game that absolutely killed me.

                        Injury Report:
                        • Delonte West is day-to-day with a right quad strain.

Warriors End Losing Streak; Hornets Still Winless

                          Warriors 100 @ Hornets 87

AP- The Warriors were able to end their losing streak by beating the winless NO/Okla. City Hornets. Dwight Howard led the Warriors to victory with his 25 points and 9 rebounds.

During his post-game interview, Howard had this to say: "I was feeling it out there, you know? It seemed every shot I put up fell in." Howard was able to shoot 11-14 from the field.

The Hornets will get their chance for redemption as they get to face the Warriors again two nights from now at Oracle Arena in Oakland.

                          Game Notes:
                          • T.J. Ford was a monster. He didn't turn the ball over once.
                          • Joe Johnson has hit a bit of a shooting slump. He shot 35% last game and 29% this game.
                          • Their defense sucked. Dwight Howard was killing Michael Sweetney all game.
                          • It's pretty bad when you have Michael Sweetney starting and your first guy off the bench is Wesley Person. I should be able to hammer them at home.

                            Warriors Pound Hapless Hornets

                            Hornets 81 @ Warriors 102

AP- For the second straight game, the Warriors were able to pound the Hornets down low and for the second straight game, the Warriors beat the Hornets. Dwight Howard led all scorers with 25 points and also had 12 rebounds.

I spoke to a very happy Dwight Howard after the game. "I wish I could play them every game! Naw, I've just been working hard in practice and it's showing out on the court."

The Hornets are now 0-5 and it doesn't look as though things are going to get much better. The Warriors now play six more home games at Oracle Arena before heading to Denver to take on the Nuggets.

                            Game Notes:
                            • Once again, Michael Sweetney got owned by Dwight Howard.

                            • I forced 17 turnovers, a few of which really swung to momentum of the game early in the 4th quarter.
                            • Joe Johnson shot much better (40%), but he's still missing some open shots.

                            • I heard a stamp name during halftime that I hadn't heard before. Yao Ming got the "Phi Slama Jamma" stamp. I don't know what it means but it sounds cool.

                              Pistons 77 @ Warriors 94

AP- The Warriors continued their winning ways as they were able to beat the Pistons 94-77. Joe Johnson led the way with 36 points and 3 steals. Darko Milicic played very well for the Pistons, scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, 5 of which were offensive.

“I hadn’t been shooting well the past few games and wanted to turn it around.” Said Joe Johnson after the game. “Our offense was pretty sloppy in the 1st half and we really wanted to play better in the second half. If we would have kept turning the ball over the way we did in the 1st half, there’s no way we would’ve been able to win this game.”

In that 1st half, the Warriors turned it over 15 times, leading to a pretty big lead for the Pistons at the half. But in the second half, the Warriors only turned the ball over 4 times, which led to them out-scoring the Pistons 31-12 in the 4th quarter.

                              Pistons(3-4)

                              FG %: 32-85 (37%)
                              FT: 12-18 (66%)

                              Darko Milicic: 19 pts, 12 reb(5 off.), 2 stl.
Larry Hughes: 14 pts, 3 ast, 3 stl.
Gerald Wallace: 12 pts, 7 reb, 7 stl, 5 ast.

                              Tim Thomas: 10 pts, 11 reb(4 off.)

                              Warriors(5-2)

                              FT: 18-24 (75%)
                              3 Pt: 4-10 (40%)
Joe Johnson: 36 pts, 4 reb, 3 stl, 6 TO.
                              T.J. Ford: 20 pts, 5 ast, 6 TO.
                              Chris Kaman: 9 pts, 10 reb(4 off.), 1 blk.
Dwight Howard: 7 pts, 10 reb, 2 blk.
Eddie Griffin: 2 pts, 9 reb, 1 blk.

                              Game Notes:
                              • Eddie Griffin has become my 6th man. His defense is exceptional.

                              • Joe Johnson finally shot over 40%. He shot 58% this game.

                              • I had waaaay too many turnovers, but overcame it. Gerald Wallace made picking off my passes look easy.

                              • It was hard to get Dwight Howard involved in the offense when Johnson and Ford were playing so well. Look for him to have a huge game next game.

                              Injury Report:
                              • Delonte West is day-to-day with a strained right quard.

                              • T.J. Ford is day-to-day with a sore right knee.
