    Braves' Offense Dominates Against Dodgers
The Joneses both went deep in the series opener against LAD
    Braves 9, Dodgers 6

Chipper Jones finished the day 2-5 with a dinger

Atlanta, GA -- Mark Redman had his worst outing of the year, giving up six earned runs, striking out only three, and giving up nine hits in just five innings of work. Surely, this would lead to an Atlanta loss, right? Wrong.

Randy Wolf, the Los Angeles starter, was just as bad. Allowing seven runs in his six innings of work, Wolf left the game after six innings and was in line for the loss.

The Atlanta offense played exceptionally well, as Chipper and Andruw Jones both homered. Brian McCann added three more hits to his season total, including an RBI-double. The always-struggling Edgar Renteria finished the day 4-5 with three doubles and two RBI.

    WP: Bob Wickman (3-1) - 1.2 IP, K, H
    LP: Randy Wolf (3-1) - 6 IP, 2 K, 11 H, 5 ER
    S: Mike Gonzalez (4)
    - Mark Redman (ATL) - 5.1 IP, 3 K, 9 H, 6 ER

    Chipper Jones - 2-5, HR (9)
    Andruw Jones - 1-5, HR (12)
    Brian McCann - 3-5, 2B, RBI
    Edgar Renteria - 4-5, 3 2B, 2 RBI

    Jeff Kent - 1-4, HR (2), 2 RBI
    Nomar Garciaparra - 2-4, 2B, 3B
    Matt Kemp - 2-4, HR (8), 2 RBI

    Record: 16-12

Worst Starter in MLB Puzzles Atlanta
Chad Billingsley pitched seven solid innings
      Braves 1, Dodgers 6

Matt Kemp hit his second homerun in as many games against ATL

Atlanta, GA -- Chad Billingsley's 2007 has been anything but impressive. The young righty was sitting at 0-4 with an 11.00+ ERA on the year, but all of that was thrown out the window when the Dodgers came to Turner Field for game two.

The Braves managed to score only one run off of Billingsley, although Atlanta didn't necessarily struggle with the bats. Timely hitting proved to be a problem, however, as RBI-situations seemed to be the kryptonite of an otherwise super offensive squad.

Nomar Garciaparra and Matt Kemp both homered for the Dodgers, who faced Atlanta's #5 starter Kyle Davies. Davies pitched well for the Bravos, but when your team manages only one run in support, things usually don't end well.

      WP: Chad Billingsley (1-4) - 7.1 IP, 2 K, 10 H, ER
      LP: Kyle Davies (3-2) - 6.2 IP, 4 K, 4 H, 2 ER

      Kelly Johnson - 3-4, 2 2B
      Jeff Francoeur - 2-4, RBI
      Andruw Jones - 2-4
      Brian McCann - 2-4, 2B

      Juan Pierre - 2-4, 2B
      Nomar Garciaparra - 1-4, HR (3), 2 RBI
      Matt Kemp - 2-4, 2B, HR (9), 2 RBI

      Record: 16-13

Kent Carries Dodgers to Series Win
Run support again a problem for the Bravos
        Braves 2, Dodgers 5

The veteran infielder blasted his second homer of the series

Atlanta, GA -- Tim Hudson had a rough first inning, giving up three runs on four hits to the Dodgers. Immediately having to play from behind, the Braves didn't respond well against Jason Schmidt and the Dodgers.

Schmidt pitched very well for Los Angeles, nearly going the full nine innings. The right-hander struck out five and gave up just one earned run to the Braves. That solitary run was provided by Jeff Francoeur's eighth homerun of the season in the first inning.

        WP: Jason Schmidt (4-2) - 8.1 IP, 5 K, 7 H, ER
        LP: Tim Hudson (1-3) - 6.2 IP, 9 H, 3 ER

        Jeff Francoeur - 2-4, HR (8)
        Ryan Langerhans - 2-4, 2B

        Jeff Kent - 3-5, 2B, HR (3), 2 RBI
        Wilson Betemit - 2-4, 3B
        Russell Martin - 3-4, 2B

          John Smoltz Sizzles, Braves Victorious
Atlanta's ace struck out thirteen in the effort
          Braves 5, Padres 3

John Smoltz earned his fourth victory of the season in the effort

Atlanta, GA -- Behind a Brian Giles homerun in the first, the Padres were able to jump out to a 3-0 lead before the Braves even had a chance to hit. However, on the first pitch the Atlanta offense saw, Kelly Johnson deposited it well over the left-field wall for his third homerun of the season. The Braves would eventually tie the game back up at 3 before the inning ended.

John Smoltz went on a tear against San Diego after the first, and eventually K'd thirteen in the contest. The Padres didn't score again after the first frame, and Atlanta cruised to victory behind Smoltz and three homeruns.

          WP: John Smoltz (4-2) - 8 IP, 13 K, 9 H, 3 ER
          LP: Chris Young (2-2) - 3.2 IP, K, 5 H, 4 ER
          S: Mike Gonzalez (5)

          Kelly Johnson - 1-4, HR (3)
          Andruw Jones - 2-3, 2B
          Brian McCann - 2-3, HR (7), 2 RBI
          Edgar Renteria - 1-4, HR (3)

          Brian Giles - 2-4, HR (5), 3 RBI
          Todd Walker - 2-4

The thing is, before the past couple of games, I never hit ANY doubles. It's all about OF Speed. I'm about to put it at 50, as I had lowered it from 60 to 45.

Atlanta's centerfielder went 2-5, hits walk-off HR in eleventh

Atlanta, GA -- Greg Maddux returned to Atlanta with a great performance, going nine innings and allowing three earned runs. The veteran scattered seven hits, and looked to be on his way to victory...

The Braves, however, answered with runs everytime the Padres seemed to be pulling away for a win. Chipper Jones homered for the tenth time this season, and Jeff Francoeur continued to stay hot at the plate with two doubles.

After the game went into extras, the Padres took the lead in the eleventh inning behind Mike Cameron's solo blast. However, in the bottom of the inning, Chipper led off with a single, and Andruw Jones blasted his thirteenth dinger of the year, giving the Braves the 5-4 win.

Padres' Bats Too Much to Handle
San Diego hit seven homeruns on the evening
                  Braves 6, Padres 7

Adrian Gonzalez pitched in with a double and a homer

Atlanta, GA -- Mark Redman definitely had an outing to forget against the Padres, as Atlanta's hurler departed after just three innings of work. San Diego hit three straight homeruns off of Redman to being the fourth inning, and Bobby Cox had seen enough out of his usually dependable starter.

Despite a great game out of Atlanta's offense, seven homeruns is very hard to overcome, and the Pads accomplished doing just that. Josh Bard and Brian Giles both contributed with two bombs apiece, and SD pulled out a victory.

I also use Heelfans sliders, besides outfield speed which you said your raising to 50 have you changed anything else?
Also do you use the analog stick to influence hit types or just press the button to swing?
Sorry for the questions it's just that overall your season seems to be going well and I'm jealous
If I can iron out a few more things I will be happy.

                      I have the AI's take strike sliders at 55, 70, and 55.

Also changed AI hitting sliders to 55 skill, 45 contact, 55 power.

I don't use the analog stick to hit.

Kyle Davies was roughed up early by San Diego

Atlanta, GA -- Giving up nine hits in four innings is a good way to tally up another loss. Kyle Davies did just that against the Padres, and gave up six earned runs in doing so.

Three different Padres finished the game with three hits, and Brian Giles and Adrian Gonzalez both went deep for SD. Chipper Jones added two more homers to his season total in the loss, giving the veteran thirteen on the season.

Ian Snell & the throwback Pirates stymied Atlanta's offense

Pittsburgh, PA -- Ian Snell pitched very well against Atlanta in the series opener, going eight strong innings and recording seven strikeouts against a usually very potent Braves' lineup. Kelly Johnson was the only Brave that actually put up a fight, going 3-4 on the afternoon with two stolen bases.

Jason Bay's contributions on the other sides of things were all the Pirates needed to take care of Tim Hudson and the Braves. The left-fielder went 2-4 with a double and his sixth homerun of the season. Former Brave, Adam LaRoche, went 2-4 with a double in the Pittsburgh win.

Even though the Braves lost, that wasn't the worst news of the afternoon. Hot-hitting right-fielder, Jeff Francoeur, injured his knee in the second inning attempting to make a diving catch. The second batter in Atlanta's lineup will miss 15 days with a bruised knee.

John Smoltz threw a complete game shutout in the win

Pittsburgh, PA -- Two great stories emerged from game two in Pittsburgh. The first of which includes long-time Brave John Smoltz and his tremendous outing. The right-hander took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, but former Atlanta player Adam LaRoche singled up the middle to break things up. Jack Wilson later added a single of his own, but those were the only two hits Smoltz gave up in his complete game shutout.

The other story is that of Atlanta's offense, which scored nine runs on the afternoon. Kelly Johnson, Andruw Jones, and Brian McCann each hit two doubles apiece, and Craig Wilson chimed in with his third dinger of the season.

The former Braves, Adam LaRoche, gave Atlanta fits all series

Pittsburgh, PA -- Matt Capps and Chuck James took the hill for their respective teams in the rubbermatch of the series between the Braves and Pirates, and both pitched well.

Chuck James had problems with one batter in particular, and that was former teammate Adam LaRoche. Pittsburgh's first baseman went deep twice on the afternoon off of James, and contributed three RBI to the scoreboard. Jack Wilson added an inside the park homerun later in the ballgame to put things away for the Pirates.

Kelly Johnson continued to swing the bat well at the top of the lineup, going 2-4 in the contest. On the series, Atlanta's leadoff hitter was 8-13 with two doubles, two triples, and two stolen bases.

John Patterson racked up six strikeouts against ATL

Washington D.C. -- The Braves recorded eight hits on the afternoon. The Nationals managed to put together four. Nine times out of ten, when a team doubles the other's hit total, Team A wins. It's just been one of those seasons for Atlanta, though.

John Patterson pitched very well over 7.2 innings for the Nationals. The young righty departed after striking out six, giving up seven hits, and shutting out the Braves during his outing.

Mark Redman got shafted by his own teammates yet again, as the lefy went seven strong innings, striking out nine and giving up just four hits. The lone run Redman surrendered was off of an RBI-double by Ryan Church in the sixth, but that was all Washington needed to put this one away.
