Re: Arlington Law Dynasty (APF 2K8)

    Week Five
    Denver Cougars (2-2) @ Arlington Law (4-0)
    Quarter 1
Okoye was shut down early as the Cougars used 5 down lineman and 4 linebackers against him. He got off two, two yard run before the Law had to move the ball. Kosar rifled his first pass of the game to the speedy Rocket Ismail who jumped for the catch and out ran the defender for a huge 62 yard TD. Denver was forced to punt on their next drive but got the ball back quickly because Ismail fumbled after making a reception but had to punt again. 1 more punt for each team followed and the quarter ended with the Law leading.
    Score: Cougars 0 - Law 7

    Quarter 2
This quarter brought a lot of excitement early on but cooled off late. Todd Boston came onto the field as Arlington went 3 and out he punted and it looked like it was going into the endzone but a diving Law player grabbed it and kept it in play on the 1 yard line. The Cougars called a run up the middle and were stuffed for the Law's first safety of the year. Following the safety Ray Guy pinned his punt at the 12 yard line but Ismail turned it around. Running on the momentum of the safety Ismail got perfect blocking and broke one tackle to get into the endzone and score big for Arlington. Unfortunately the Law's defense could not get another big stop. Jay Tynes was able to hit a 35 yard field goal to give the Cougars some life.
    Score: Cougars 3 - Law 16

    Quarter 3
With 4 punts in this quarter it did not live up to the excitement that the 2nd brought. The Law scored an early field goal and a defensive battle went on from that point as neither team could convert on 3rd down. Todd Boston and Ray Guy have been busy tonight. Guy has 6 punts and Boston has 3, guy has crossed the 200 yard mark while Boston has only gotten 125.
    Score: Cougars 3 - Law 19

    Quarter 4
The Law started another quarter with an early field goal to give them a slight momentum boost. The Cougars punted but got the ball back as Kosar threw an interception. The Cougars got a quick passing drive going and scored a touchdown from a 3 yard pass. Arlington got the ball back and ran out the clock from the 4 minute mark.

      Week 6 Preview

Arlington Law (5-0) @ Las Vegas Rollers (2-3)

After going undefeated in a 5 game home stand to begin the season, they book their first flight into Nevada to face the Rollers. The Rollers are a balanced team that can pass and run on offense and stop both he run a pass on defense. Art Donovan is the defensive leader for Las Vegas, he is a big defensive tackle that can get to the QB using his strength. Beside him on the line is defensive end Dexter Manley. While smaller than Donovan Manley is very fast and will use his agility to get to the QB. Both of them play on the right side of the line and will need to be double teamed allowing for some holes to be created and blitzes to be more effective. The Boz, Brian Bosworth will be using his quick feet to get to the QB as his line creates holes for him to get to the QB.
The offense of the Rollers is very versatile as they can play the running game or they cn go with a pass focused offense. With Theismann recieveing the hikes there is already a huge threat as he can throw the ball with pin-point accuracy so interceptions are going to be far and few. Rickey Watters and Ickey Woods line up behind Theismann and will surely be getting a lot of handoffs as the duo can break huge runs and Watters has a 98 yard run this year already. For recieving you have Shannon Sharpe at tight end and Ricky Sanders at wide out. These 3 are both very fast and match up well against the Law's defense.

There is not much weakness on the Rollers and the Law are not going to have a set plan. They are going to have to go with whatever works for them and the first quarter will be very interesting, because Arlington will be trying different things every drive to find out what is going to break the Rollers defense.

        Week Six

Arlington Law (5-0) @ Las Vegas Rollers (2-3)

        Quarter 1
The Rollers won the toss and got the ball. They destroyed the Law's defense on the run and in the air as they scored a quick touchdown. The Law were shutdown on their first set of downs and were forced to punt. The Rollers went down the field again but were stopped in the redzone after some sacks and had to kick a field goal. The Rollers were now up by 2 scores.
        Score: Law 0 - Rollers 10

        Quarter 2
The Law's offense was completely shut down again. They completed only 1 pass for 3 yards. Okoye was being pinned down by the strong defensive line and had no holes to run through. The Rollers were able to drive the field again and put up another field goal. The Law seemed over matched in every aspect of this game and will have to have a huge second half to overcome the Rollers great play.
        Score: Law 0 - Rollers 13

The Law were finally able to break the Rollers near perfect defense. They took a long kickoff and put it on the 30 yard line and gave Okoye the ball for most of the drive. The drive ended with Kosar completing a pass to Ismail for Arlington;s first points. Unfortunately the Rollers had an equally impressive drive that score them a touchdown. Again the Rollers made a nice kickoff but it was returned by Ismail past the 30 yard line. Kosar moved the ball through the air and connected with Wane Bruschi for a touchdown. The Law put themselves back in the game in this quarter and hoped for continued success in the 4th.

          Week 7 Preview

          Arlington Law (5-1) @ Texas Rustlers (4-2)

After taking a hard loss in Las Vegas, Arlington gets to go back to their home state but not back to their city of Arlington. This time it is to Austin, Texas the home of the Rustlers. The state's favorite team has some of the best football fans in the country and will let Arlington know that the Rustlers are Texas' team.
The Rustlers have a great QB in Sammy Baugh. He can get the ball very far down the field and with accuracy, he is also from Texas Christian University which gives him another advantage with the fans. Baugh is complemented with a great running back, Paul Hornung, he is more of a receiving tailback that has great hands. The Texas defense is run by Bob Lilly who went to the same collegiate program as Baugh. Lilly is a great pass rusher who overpowers offensive linemen with his strength. Behind Lilly is a strong 1-2 punch of linebackers with Brian Jones and Lamar Lathon who have combined for 91 tackles this year. They have been stuffing a lot of runners that have gotten through Lilly and the rest of the line. The Rustler's weakest point is their secondary, there are no standout players that make huge differences in the game.
The Law may have to work the ball through the air as the secondary of Texas is very weak. This may be expected so Okoye will be utilized in the start of the game to wear down the linemen so the pass rush will be weaker. the Law's defense is going to have to shadow Hornung the entire game as he can catch a lot of passes from the flat and will earn some first downs from receptions and rushing attempts. The Law seem to be a lot more powerful than the Rustlers and may go back to Arlington with a victory. The Law are going to try and steal the majority of Texas football fans away from the Rustlers and towards the Law.

              Week 8 Preview

Arlongton Law (6-1) @ St. Louis Rhinos (2-5)

The Law will face a team that the record does not show how good they are. With Troy Aikman and Gale Sayers on offense the Law's defense will be tested. They will have to defend both the pass and run well because if one weakness is exposed the Rhinos will trample the Law. With Henry Ellard and John Taylor the team has 2 strong targets for Aikman to throw the ball to. FS Willie Woods runs the defense and the Law will not be throwing to his side of the field. Joey Browner the SS will be looking to pick apart the Law's recievers with big hits. Passes through the middle will most likely end up dropped with Browner in the mind of the recievers. Dan Hampton runs the defensive line and is a great pass rusher.
The Law are going to have to use the running game early so the Rhinos will not be looking for the passing game. That is when Kosar will shine in the game. The Law's defense is going to have a very tough day defending the Rhinos and Woodson and Brown are going to have to step their games up signifigantly.

                      Mid-Season Report

                      Arlington Law (7-1-0)

The Arlington Law have been very succesful in their first year in the APL. They posted a 7-1 record going into week 9 and are on top of the standings in the league. With no other team above .500 in the central conference this makes it easy for the Law to dominate as they overpower the weaker teams. The Law's only loss came on the day of their first road game, and the city of Las Vegas may have gotten to the Arlington players. The Law's last 2 games were complete shutouts as the leagues best defense shut down the likes of troy Aikman and Sammy Baugh. The Law are on pace for a 14-2 record but with a game against the 5-3 Iron Men and the 6-2 Legends in the next few weeks, the law could be going 13-3, which is now were near being bad.
The team has no standout players in the league stats wise but everyone on the team has been involved and not one person has had to carry the team on his shoulders. With defense as good as the Laws is they might see their way all the way to the championship if no big injuries come up.
The Law start the second half of the season in Ohio to face the Red Dogs.

                          Week 9 Preview

Arlington Law (7-1) @ Ohio Red Dogs (4-4)

The Red Dogs are not an incredibly strong team. They have Ron Mix, probably the best offensive tackle in the league. He will line up against Too Tall Jones who will probably never get my Mix. Greg Landry will line up behind the center and he is agile and can run the ball when neccesary. Lining up behing Landry is the running back duo of Curt Warner and Dalton Hilliard. Warner brings the power while Hilliard will spin the defenders out of their shoes. Their receiving team is pretty weak with star reciever Dante Lavelli out with a broken ankle, so the Red Dogs will be forced to run the ball.
On defense Pepper Johnson leads the way with 80 tackles this year and he has been stuffing all the runners that try to get by him. The only other defensive player to note is Jim Marshall, he has not sacked the quarter back much this year, but he has created lots of pressure allowing his team mates to get the sack.
The Law should be able to pass the ball without much contest against the weak secondary and the Law's defense will just need to shut down Warner and Hilliard to win the game. The Law have a fairly easy game ahead of them.

                            Quarter 2
The Law started with the ball at the Ohio 5 and could not take the ball in for a TD but Stenerud kicked in the field goal. The teams exchanged punts and on Ohio's next possesion Curt Warner broke a huge 74 yard run for a touchdown putting the Red Dogs within 3. Kosar led Arlington down the field on the next possesion all the way for a touchdown, and the Law's defense kept Ohio off the board for the rest of the quarter.

With good field position entering the quarter, the Law got into the redzone but were stopped for a secodn time and had to kick a field goal. The teams exchanged punts and the Red Dogs got the ball back. They made their way to the 10 yard line and threw what looked to be a perfect pass for a touchdown but Rod Woodson came out of nowhere and grabbed the ball for an I-N-T that closed the game.

                              Week 10 Preview

Pittsburgh Iron Men (5-4) @ Arlington Law (8-1)

The Law go back home with a 3 game winning streak and hopefully they can carry the momentum into Arlington and get a win at home. The Iron Men are coming in to Arlington and lost their last game.
Pittsburgh has one of the best passing games in the league. With Dan Marino throwing the ball and a set of 2 star recievers and the best tight end in the league. the wideouts, Lenny Moore and Willie gualt have quick feet and will give the Law's corners some tough competition. Also in the receiving mix is Mike Ditka, a born leader that can run block and is not afraid to get hit while making the catch. The Pittsbugh passing game is even more deadly with the offensive line they have, Russ Grimm and Jim Otto will be protecting Marino along with some other strong blockers.
Their defense is led my Charlie Waters and Greg Kragen, a safety and a defensive end. The Law have a strong advantage as once either of those 2 men are injured, Kosar and Okoye could both excell.
If the Law can shut down the passing game, they win. This mean shutting down 3 receivers and getting to Marino. While shutting down the recievers is possible, getting to Marino will be incredibly tough as he has some of the best O-linemen protecting him. On offense they just need to have a balanced attack and try to wear out Waters and Kragen.

Pittsburgh Iron Men (5-4) @ Arlington Law (8-1)

                                Quarter 1
On the opening kickoff, Ismail started going to the right sideline, but cutback and went the other way. He took it 94 yards for the touchdown and the Law looked to be in good shape. On the first Iron Men drive, Marion completed 3 passes before throwing one for 41 yards to Lenny Moore for a TD and a tied game.
