This should be really interesting, 3 year old rosters and schedules. It will be fun to follow.

    NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder
    NFL: New Orleans Saints
    MLB: New York Yankees
CFL: BC Lions - I want my Rough Riders back!

      ESPN 2004-2005 Season Preview

      WHAT 2 WATCH 4:
Offensively, the Carolina Panthers need to get the ball to Steve Smith like they did in last year to earn their Super Bowl appearance. Jake Delhomme needs to throw nice accurate passes. The Panthers also need to get a nice running game going this season.

Defensively, the Carolina Panthers need to pressure the quarterback with defensive ends Mike Rucker and Julius Peppers along with fellow defensive tackle Kris Jenkins. If they can continue to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks, the defense should be a solid unit.

Yes, I am looking forward to it. It's a really fun game. The turnover bug in NCAA 08 hurts its value, but I have not encountered any on this game yet.

By the way, I played 1 preseason game and will simulate the rest. I just get bored playing preseason games and want to get to the regular season.

There are, but I think using the old rosters makes it more realistic since he is doing that year's schedule. We can compare stats of his franchise to the stats of that season.

Yes, but I do not have Xbox Live for my original Xbox and I really don't want to buy a transfer kit and memory card. I picked this game up for $1.99 at Gamestop, so it did not cost much.

Okay, seeing that I am not very good at this game after playing last night, I will play the preseason to hone up my skills.

I played the first preseason game and won, but I think I have the hang of this game now, so I'll just begin the regular season. Keep in mind, I have school now, so updates will not be as regular as before.

james - this is a great idea, nfl2k5 was a great game - I think I might pick it up again if Madden doesn't improve.

And you're right, you're going to need ALOT of practice - it's a great great game, and isn't that easy to pick up.

Yes, it is a good game and very realistic. I had a hard time at first because with EA football games, you can throw off your back foot and while moving, but on ESPN NFL 2K5, you have to stay in the pocket to be effective when throwing, the way it should be. I also like the Sportcenter feature, it's a shame that a 2005 game can do that, but the 2008 games of today do not do it!

Yes, I have been practicing a bit. I actually changed the sliders a bit to make it a little easier, but I may move them back if I get to good. I probably will not get a game in tonight because I'll probably play MLB 2K7 tonight. I should get the first regular season game in tomorrow, though.

Thanks for the reply and thanks fo following!

                              Week 1 (Packers @ Panthers)

Green Bay Has Huge 4th to Seal Win!

The Carolina Panthers started out their new season on a low note with a lopsided loss to Brett Farve and the Green Bay Packers. Actually, the game was closer than the score indicates. The score was tied at 14 when the 4th quarter began, but the Packers had a huge 4th quarter as Ahman Green ran wild.

The Packers were led by Ahman Green. Green picked up 171 yards on the ground with a touchdown on just 17 carries. Green said of his effort, "Our offensive line was blocking well and gave me some nice holes to run through. Once I am in space, I'm pretty hard to beat."

Brett Farve threw for 178 yards, 2 touchdowns, and one interception. Farve collected a 93.3 quarterback rating for the game.

Carolina Panthers quarterbck Jake Delhomme was frustrated throughout the night. Although he threw no intereceptions, he just couldn't stay consistent and make plays. "I had trouble getting those key plays. We nickeled and dimed them up the field a couple of times, but we couldn't get that key play to punch it into the endzone." Delhomme threw for just 135 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions earning him a 73.6 quarterback rating.

Panthers coach John Fox said that he would be commited to getting the running game going and he did not disappoint. Though, Carolina only collected 135 rushing yards, they ran the ball a lot. Panthers starting running back Steven Davis was running the ball well, but was injured in the first half. Backup, Deshaun Foster came in to play and didn't disappoint. He picked up 54 yards on 14 carries.

Carolina's libebacker Mike Fields had a great day, getting 7 key tackles. Coach John Fox said, "He [Fields] was hungry. You could tell he wanted to blast the ball carrier. He was running all over the field making plays for us."

Panther Altrell Hawkins scored the only Panther touchdown on the night. He picked off Brett Farve and ran the ball all the way back 47 yards to pick up the touchdown in the 3rd quarter. Carolina would go for two and get it to tie the game before Green Bay had their huge 3th quarter.
