        Pre-Season team report

After making the Stanley cup finals for the first time in modern team history, the Ottawa Senators will be riding high into this season as top contenders for the cup once again. Only Scheafer and Preissing were lost in the off-season but now Shubert can play full time defense and McGratton is now a full-time fourth liner for the time being. Sean Donovan will replace Scheafer, but as a center. Coach John Paddock has announced that the team will be very agressive and not afraid to hit their opponents into the ground. Ottawa will carry the puck into the zone more often this year and use their defense in their offense very much. Only a few players are pushing for full-time positions on the team. Lawrence Nycholat will hope to push out Shubert for 5th defenseman. 23 year old centerJosh Hennessy will push the 3rd and 4th line centers for their jobs, and Niko Dimitrakos will be trying to take over McGrattons position on the team. The goaltendig battle in Ottawa should be exciting as Emery took over last year as Gerber could not handle the pressure of a real hockey city. Gerber will try again this year to become the starting goaltender against the agressive Ray Emery.

Most of the teams scoring will come from the 1st line, but if other lines do not produce this line could be split apart to spread the elite skill around the team. The 3rd and 4th lines will be used to gain some team mometum and wear out the opposition. The second lines job is much like the first lines, score. If the second line can not get it done as they are set now, Alfredsson would most likely move into that line and either Eaves or Vermette would move up.

Ottawa opens up the season away against their biggest rival the Toronto Maple Leafs in a home-and-away series. Ottawa opens up at home the next night.

2K8 plays very nicely, but the new controls are pretty awkward. I switched back to the classic 2K controls. 2K still has way too many hits, defensive play is pretty weird and hitting is the best option so you rack up way too many hits. EA's game looks great, the demo was amazing; I'm picking the full game up tommorow.

What team will you be using for your franchise? I'll be following your chise once it is up and running.
