      Re: Washington Wizards (NBA 2K8)

I'll make as many updates as I can this week. But it's finals week, I've got baseball practice every day after school, and I'm using my buddy's 360 while he's on vacation because mine bricked last week. So I'll do as much as I can this week before he comes back and then it'll probably be a few weeks before I make any updates. I'll post the November schedule later tonight.

I'm going to model this basically like the one I did last year (Which can be found HERE). Hopefully some of you guys will follow and leave some feedback as to what I'm doing good or what I can improve on. Any feedback, good or bad, is welcome!

          Wizards 98 @ Pacers 94

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct, 31 (AP) -- The Wizards, ranked #1 in the 2KSports.com NBA Power Rankings, did not disappoint in their season opener. They overcame a 9 point 3rd quarter deficit to defeat the Indiana Pacers in the Pacers' home opener.

Kevin Garnett, who had a strong night with 19 points and 19 rebounds, had this to say into his post-game press conference. "It's definitely tough to go into another team's house in their home opener and come out with a victory. They always feed off of the intensity the crowd gives off." But Garnett, now in his 12th pro season, should be able to tune out that crowd noise, right? "On almost any other night during the regular season, yes. But it's our season opener out there too, and we're pretty amped up as well."

Garnett had some help on the offensive end. Teammates Michael Redd and Shane Battier, who are both seasoned veterans along with Garnett, had 25 points and 16 points, respectively. The Wizards will now travel to the Boston Garden to take on the Boston Celtics in their 2007 home opener. Hopefully Garnett and the rest of the Wizards team can keep their composure in that game as well.

          Wizards (1-0)

          FG %: 38-86 (44%)
          FT: 20-24 (83 %)
          3 Pt: 2-12 (17%)
Michael Redd: 25 pts, 3 ast, 2 stl.
Kevin Garnett: 19 pts, 19 reb, 4 ast, 3 blk.
          Shane Battier: 16 pts, 2-4 3-pt.
Kwame Brown: 9 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast, 1 blk.
Chris Kaman: 3 pts, 9 reb, 2 stl, 2 blk.

          Pacers (0-1)

          FG %: 37-86 (43%)
          FT: 11-11 (100 %)
          3 Pt: 9-21 (43%)
Baron Davis: 17 pts, 6 ast, 2 stl.
Andres Nocioni: 21 pts, 9 reb, 1 blk.
Jamal Crawford: 14 pts, 4 ast.
Mehmet Okur: 13 pts, 6 reb, 6 ast, 1 blk.
Udonis Haslem: 2 pts, 7 reb, 1 blk.

          Game Notes:
          • I got great production from my main offensive threats, especially Garnett. If I got into a shooting funk and/or they went on a bit of a run, I could just dump it into him and let him go to work. He abused Haslem down low and from mid-range.

          • At the start of the 2nd half, I had a five point lead, but it evaporated quickly when they proceeded to hit 6 of their three-pointers in the third quarter. Nocioni and Crawford hit two each, Baron hit one, and Okur hit one. Luckily, they slowed considerably in the 4th when I brought in Francisco Garcia to defend rather than Flip Murray.
          • Redd wasn't exactly efficient from the field (8-25), but he made all six of his free throw attempts.
          • I liked the way Arroyo was playing, so I gave him more minutes than anticipated. Calderon wasn't bad, but he wasn't great either. We'll see how things go against Boston.

          Injuries:
          • No significant injures to report.

If he keeps playing as bad as he has, he's gonna lose his starting spot. So I suggest you keep following.

                Wizards 84 @ Celtics 105

BOSTON, Nov, 2 (AP) -- Even though they started hot and jumped out to a 12 point 1st quarter lead, the Washington Wizards were unable to hold off the Boston Celtics. After their slow start from the field, the Celtics were +33 on the offensive end of the floor from the 2nd quarter forward.

Vince Carter spoke to reporters after the game and had nothing but praise for the Wizards. "We feel like we were lucky to come out and beat them as bad as we did. After that first quarter, the way they played was definitely not representative of their skill level. I was able to slow Michael (Redd) down and that really helped us slow the rest of their team down offensively."

The Wizards have to put this loss behind them quickly as they head back to the Verizon Center in D.C. for their home-opener tomorrow night against the Magic. Both teams will be playing the second of a back-to-back.

                Wizards (1-1)

                FG %: 37-93 (39%)
                FT: 5-11 (45 %)
                3 Pt: 5-20 (25%)
                Kevin Garnett: 20 pts (9-14), 10 reb, 1 blk.
                Michael Redd: 14 pts (6-23), 4 ast.
                Jason Kapono: 14 pts (6-16), 4 reb.
                Derek Anderson: 11 pts (5-11), 5 ast, 3 reb, 1 blk, in 11 min.
Kwame Brown: 3 pts, 9 reb, 2 stl, 1 blk.

                Celtics (1-0)

                FG %: 45-92 (49%)
                FT: 12-17 (70 %)
                3 Pt: 3-12 (25%)
                Vince Carter: 29 pts (13-30), 9 reb, 4 ast.
Acie Law IV: 17 pts (7-12), 5 reb.
                Jarrett Jack: 14 pts (5-9), 14 ast.
                Gerald Wallace: 10 pts (5-10), 9 reb, 1 blk.
                Jay Williams: 9 pts (4-5), 5 ast.

                Game Notes:
                • After the 1st quarter, I got man-handled. It seemed like Vince didn't miss a shot and I missed everything. They were definitely not 21 points beeter than me.

                • Jarrett Jack got at least half of his assists on that back-door cut that's pretty much impossible to stop. I don't know if I'll ever be able to stop that play.
                • Once again, Michael Redd was horrible from the field. He missed pretty much any shot from beyond 10 feet.
                • Derek Anderson played pretty well in "garbage time". Maybe he'll get some important minutes if he plays like that and Flip Murray doesn't step it up.

                Injuries:
                • No significant injures to report.

                  Magic 84 @ Wizards 100

WASHINGTON DC, Nov, 3 (AP) -- In their home-opener, the Wizards bounced back nicely from the disappointing loss to the Celtics as they easily beat the Magic 100 to 84. Kevin Garnett continued his hot start on both ends of the floor and Michael Redd shot nearly 50% from the field.

Kevin Garnett explained why the two are so good together after the game. "During the pre-season, this is how both Michael and myself hoped things would go. We both are pretty good inside-outside guys on the offensive end and it's hard for teams to defend us because of that. One time down the court he could dump it inside to me and the next time down the court, we could flip positions and have me dump it into him."

The Wizards have almost a week before they have to go to New Jersey to play the Nets. Head coach Eddie Jordan will work out some issues in practice and hopefully the Wizards can play a consistent 48 minutes like they did against the Magic.

                  Magic (1-2)

                  FG %: 40-96 (42%)
                  FT: 3-7 (43 %)
                  3 Pt: 1-11 (9%)
                  Corey Brewer: 19 pts (9-22), 4 ast, 2 blk.
                  Mike Bibby: 12 pts (5-14), 6 ast.
                  Allen Iverson: 10 pts (6-16), 4 reb.
                  David Lee: 6 pts (3-7), 10 reb, 2 stl.
                  Etan Thomas: 3 pts (3-7), 7 reb.

                  Wizards (2-1)

                  FG %: 44-84 (52%)
                  FT: 7-8 (88 %)
                  3 Pt: 5-15 (33%)
                  Michael Redd: 23 pts (11-23), 6 reb, 3 ast.
                  Kevin Garnett: 21 pts (9-17), 12 reb, 1 blk.
                  Jason Kapono: 15 pts (7-9), 4 ast, 4 reb.
                  Chris Kaman: 6 pts (3-4), 7 reb, 3 blk.
                  Jose Calderon: 0 pts (0-5), 13 ast.

                  Game Notes:
                  • Iverson and Bibby weren't shooting well at all from the perimeter and I was able to stop both of them from getting into the paint.

                  • Both Redd and Garnett were great on both ends of the floor. Redd actually shot better than 30% from the field!
                  • Chris Kaman was a force down low on defense. He sent away two Iverson lay-up attempts and stuffed a dunk attempt by Corey Brewer.
                  • Derek Anderson scored 9 more points in only 5 minutes at the very end of the game. It was in garbage time again, but it's better than Flip Murray played. Stay tuned to see what happens there.

LOL, I'm actually running a 2-player Bulls Association with a buddy of mine. We're 5-3 so far, much better than our real-life Bulls.
