This is my first attempt at a NCAA franchise on DigitalSportsMania and Operationsports and I hope I will get a few followers. The reason I went with Oregon is because I have always liked them ever since I was young and even though the never amounted to much in the Pro’s players like, Joey Harrington, Akili Smith and Derek Loville where players I loved watching play.

So hopefully you will all join me on this ride as I try and take over the Pac-10 and knock off the juggernaut that is USC.

Dixon and Stewart lead Ducks to Season Opening Victory
Eugene, OR (AP) – Dennis Dixon threw for a pair of Touchdowns and Jonathan Stewart rushed for a pair as the Oregon Ducks started their season out with a big 41-7 victory over the Huston Cougars. Dixon also added 85 Yards on the ground and the Ducks Defense forced 4 turnovers.

Dixon connected with Garren Strong for a 10 Yard Touchdown in the 1^st Qrt and then hooked up with Cameron Colvin for a 31 Yard strike in the 2^nd. Dixon finished the game with 126 Yards Passing and 85 Yards Rushing along with the two Touchdowns.

Jonathan Stewart finished the game with 122 Yards and two Touchdowns on only 20 carries, he also sat out the 4^th Qrt and missed part of the 2^nd with a injury. “I felt really good running the ball today, it was like they couldn’t take me down with there first shot, hopefully we can continue this roll we are on.” Stewart said after the game.

Houston never looked like threatening the Ducks and their lone Touchdown came on some blown coverage late in the 3^rd Qrt. Oregon’s defense got the final laugh though when Jarius Byrd picked off a pass and returned it 27 Yards for the games final Touchdown.

DUCKS LOSE OVERTIME THRILLER IN THE “BIG HOUSE”
Ann Arbor, MI (AP) – Jonathan Stewart rushed for a season high 174 Yards and a pair of Touchdowns but it wasn’t enough to hold off the strong finishing #2 ranked Michigan Wolverines from snatching victory out off the clutches of defeat at the Big House in Overtime 34-26.

Stewart led all runners with 174 Yards on 25 Carries, including a 78 Yard Touchdown in the 3rd Quarter, but it still wasn’t enough for the Ducks to knock off the Wolverines in Ann Arbor. Dennis Dixon had a fairly quite day throwing for 156 yards and a Pick to go along with 33 Yards on the ground, it was Dixon’s fumble in overtime that killed any chance of a Ducks comeback and eventually cost them the game.

Chad Henne led the Wolverines offense with 352 Yards passing and a Touchdown along with a Touchdown in the air, Henne also had a Touchdown on the ground in the 3rd. Henne connected with Mike Hart for a 64 Yard Touchdown in the 4th Quarter, Hart also had the game winning Touchdown in Overtime.

Both teams struggled on the defensive side of the ball with the Ducks giving up 352 Yards in the air and the Wolverines allowing over 230 Yards on the ground. Oregon host Fresno State next week looking to improve to 2-1 on the season, while Michigan host #22 Notre Dame.
