Bringing Back The Silver and Black

It's no secret that the Raiders have gone downhill since their last appearance in the Playoffs. A once proud franchise has fallen victim to poor business decisions along with questionable coaching and management.

This has led many to believe that this could be the Raiders' last season in Oakland. A move back to L.A. seems to be the most logical choice but a lot depends on this season's performance and the willingness of Los Angeles to take back the Franchise that left over a decade ago.

                      Mid-Season Update

                      AFC WEST Standings
                      Oakland (4-3)
                      Denver (4-3)
                      San Diego (4-3)
                      Kansas City (4-3)

The AFC West is a 'toss up'. With the Raiders losing their second straight game there is a 4-way tie for first place in the West.

While Oakland is 2-1 in division play, they have a tough schedule to end the season.
six of the next nine games are against teams with winning records. Although next week's opponent is the Houston Texans, the Raiders are not taking the 1-7 team lightly. This is because they must improve their offensive performance if they have any hopes of beating Vikings (6-1), Packers (5-2) or Colts (7-0) in the coming weeks.

                      NFL UPDATE
The Colts (7-0) and Patriots (7-1) will be playing in week 9. This could be a preview of a possible AFC Championship RE-match-up.

                      LEAGUE LEADERS
Passing- Tom Brady (2,265 Yds, 23 TD, 4 INT)

                      Rushing-
LaDainian Tomlinson (918 Yds, 12 TD)

                      Receiving
                      - Chris Chambers (48 Rec, 875 Yds, 7 TD)

                      Tackles
                      - Reggie Torbor (69 Tackles, 5 Sacks)

                      Defensive Backs
                      - Nnamdi Asomugha (8 INT, 3 TD)

                      Draft Coverage
With an under-performing Receiving Corps, Oakland is being forced to look into the Draft for salvation. Also struggling is the front seven on defense. While the defensive backs have played aggressive ball, the Raiders are still losing due to a lack of ability to stop the run.

On offense, the emergence of Michael Bush has given the Raider faithful a reason to hope. Don't expect them to draft any type of running back in the first 4 rounds of the draft.

JaMarcus Russell is having a typical rookie year at QB. He is struggling to make good throws when outside the pocket. Expect the Raiders to drop McCown as a back-up and draft Dennis Dixon if he is still on the board.

                      Oakland's Big Board
                      1. Mario Manningham (WR- Michigan)
                      2. Malcolm Jenkins (CB- Ohio State)

                      4. Patrick Turner (WR- USC)
                      5. Limas Sweed (WR- Texas)
                      6. Marcus Freeman (ROLB- Ohio State)
                      7. Chris Long (LE- Virginia)
                      8. Dennis Dixon (QB- Oregon)
                      9. Darren McFadden (RB- Arkansas)
                      10. J Leman (MLB- Illinois)
                      11. Glenn Dorsey (DT- LSU)
                      12. Shawn Crable (LOLB- Michigan)
                      13. Jake Long (LT- Michigan)
                      14. Tom Zbikowski (SS- Notre Dame)
