    Georgetown Hoyas (CH 2K8)

Game Difficulty: All-American w/ my own sliders
    Game Length: 16 minute halves
    6th man/clutch/team unity: OFF

I'm running a freewebs site to recap my seasons and this thread will be where I update how I'm doing in my season.

I'm going to keep it very simple and use some good old text!

    Season Preview

What you need to know about the 2008 Georgetown Hoyas
They're coming off a great 2007 season in which they upset the UNC Tar Heels in the NCAA Tournament to make a Final Four appearance. They were unable to pull the upset off against the Florida Gators but only one key member of the 2007 squad will not be returning. Jeff Green was the #5 draft pick in the NBA and now plays along side Kevin Durant for the Seattle Sonics.

The remaining Hoyas are experienced and here's the starting lineup...

    Starting 5
    PG - Jonathan Wallace, Sr.
-Solid ball handler who can knock down an open shot. Will be the key in getting the ball into #55, Mr. Roy Hibbert
    SG - Jesse Sapp, Jr.
-Athletic guard who plays great defense and has his moments on offense.
    SF - DaJuan Summers, So.
-A big, physical forward who can give smaller forwards fits on both ends of the floor. A big time offensive threat
PF - Patrick Ewing Jr., Sr.
-He's going to do the dirty work. Has great genes and knows how to play the game.
    C - Roy Hibbert, Sr.
-The man in the middle who will look to get the offense running full tilt. Plays develop through him and he is the focal point of the team.

    The Bench
    PG - Chris Wright, Fr.
-Good outside shooter with great athleticism. Will look to contribute off bench as instant offense
    PG - Jeremiah Rivers, So.
-Big point guard who excels on defense. Time will be limited.
    SG - Austin Freeman, Fr.
-Highly recruited newcomer who will be a spark off the bench for the Hoyas. Currently the 6th man on this squad.
    SG - Tyler Crawford, Sr.
-Team captain who is a deep threat on offense. Will be counted on to hit open shots off the bench.
    PF - Vernon Macklin, So.
-Only big man coming off the bench will be needed to go big minutes off bench. Very physical player who works great around the paint.

    Head Coach
    John Thompson III
-Is resurrecting the Georgetown program back into one of the Nation's elite. This season he will look to follow up last year's promising NCAA Tournament run with another dash for the Final Four.

        First 8 games

Georgetown has gotten off to a disappointing 6-2 start to the season with a couple of tough losses on the road. The Hoyas were unable to hold off the Old Dominion Monarchs as they dropped a heartbreaker 74-75 for their first loss of the season and lost their second game at Alabama, 67-70. In both losses the opposition shot well from the floor. ODU shot over 50% from the floor in their win and Alabama shot over 50% from three point range for the victory.

In the six Georgetown victories the Hoyas were dominant. The closest margin of victory was 11 points vs. William & Mary in the season opener.

        Quick Stats
        Starters:
PG Jonathan Wallace : 6.4 ppg, 4.8 apg, 1.0 spg
SG Jesse Sapp : 8.6 ppg, 2.5 apg
SF DaJuan Summers : 16.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.8 apg
PF Patrick Ewing Jr. : 6.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.8 spg
        C Roy Hibbert : 16.4 ppg, 13.0 rpg, 1.0 bpg

        Reserves:
SG Austin Freeman : 8.9 ppg, 1.8 rpg
SG Tyler Crawford : 5.6 ppg, 1.5 apg
PG Chris Wright : 4.3 ppg, 2.3 apg
PF Vernon Macklin : 3.5 ppg, 4.1 rpg

        Team:
        76.1 PPG
        34.6 PPG
        16.8 PPG
        8.1 SPG
        3.0 BLP
        10.1 TOPG
        51.7 FG%
        39.5 3PT%
        68.6 FT%

        Next Game
        #8 Georgetown Hoyas (6-2) @ #4 Memphis Tigers (8-1)
-This should be a tough one! The Tigers are averaging 83.4 points a game and shooting great. They have a ton of athletes who can play the game. Hibbert is going to have to dominate and Wallace will need to be careful with the ball.

I don't intend on having it that close

I guess. I have been in the works with this. I had a vote here in this section and Gtown was declared the winner! Therefore I'm sticking with it and I also enjoy the Hoyas. I love the Verizon Center, their uni's, the team, beating teams in their conference, and the program tradition. All about DEFENSE!

            Game #9:

            #8 Georgetown (6-2) @ #4 Memphis (8-1)

            Memphis Blasts Gtown 106-73

I went into this game saying I was going to make it close. I was going to play at my pace and I wasn't going to get blown out like the real life game. However, once that ball was tipped I realized this game was going to be rough. Memphis is way too fast, they attack the ball, and they can shoot & score.

It was never close, I never had a chance. I turned it over 14 times to their 4. I shot 50%, which is pretty good, to their 60%. I made seven 3 pointers, but they made 11. Whatever I did, they did better. Heck I just tried to keep it within 20 but that wasn't going to happen. At the end I tried to keep it within 30! Lord knows they kept the press on and were firing up 3 balls as the buzzer sounded.

I did not belong in this game. I wanted to see how good Derrick Rose would be but they didn't use him much. He had 11 points in 15 minutes of action. None of the starters played more than 15 minutes because their was no need to.

Roy Hibbert & Jesse Sapp were the only two who showed up to play. Hibs had 24 and 11 and Sapp put up 18 points.

I don't know what to say. They were just SO much better than I was it was ridiculous. Hopefully I never have to play them again.

I have a couple cupcakes in American & Fordham before I head to Rutgers to open up Big East play.

Hoyas open up Big East play with Road Victory, 77-54

                #11 Georgetown (8-3) @ Rutgers (6-7)

After struggling a bit on defense the past two games against American and Fordham, I decided to run the 3-2 zone. It turned out to do the trick as Rutgers had no idea how to score against it. Hibs did his thing down low and Summers & Sapp got things rolling on offense. Great overall game for Gtown and a solid start to Big East play.

                Gtown Stats
PG Jonathan Wallace: 2 pts, 6 ast, 3 stl
SG Jesse Sapp: 15 pts, 4 reb, 7-11 fg
                SF DaJuan Summers: 18 pts, 6-14 fg, 2-5 3pt
PF Patrick Ewing Jr.: 10 pts, 6 reb
                C Roy Hibbert: 18 pts, 21 reb, 3 blk

                Rutgers
SG Corey Chandler: 10 pts, 4-12 fg
                SF Earl Pettis: 19 pts, 8-22 fg, 3-8 3pt

                  Recruiting

I was able to pull in four 4-star recruits:

                  PF Rashad Bass
                  6-8, 216 lbs
                  Santa Clarita, CA
-#38 recruit overall. Solid on both ends of the floor and will be needed in trying to fill the holes created by the departure of Hibbert and Ewing Jr.

                  C Gabriel Grove
                  7-1, 253
                  Chicago, IL
-#78 recruit overall. A huge body who is rough on the offensive side of the floor but a game changer on defense. Will see plenty of playing time as a freshman with his size and defensive skills.

                  PF Jarrett Didlake
                  6-8, 229
                  Tampa, FL
-#49 recruit overall. Another big body for the Hoyas who will be thrown into the mix to see how he handles things. A garbage player who is going to make his presence felt around the boards.

                  SF Erroyl Craven
                  6-6, 210
                  Washington, D.C.
-#92 recruit overall. A good slasher who has decent range on his jumper. Another good defender who has great athleticism...something this class has bunches of.

I have two scholarships left but I don't know if I'm going to sign anyone else.

Hoyas Defense Plays Best Game vs. UCONN in 65-44 victory

                    #20 Connecticut (11-3) @ #6 Georgetown (10-3)

Well I have finally gotten into the swing of things on defense. A couple slider tweaks to make it harder for both clubs to shoot has yielded realistic stats, finally.

It was pretty tight early and bodies were flying all over the place but UCONN went ice cold at the end of the first half. I got on a little run and went into halftime up 35-20, with UCONN shooting 20% for the half.

In the second half it was more of the same as my defense just overwhelmed UCONN. Stanley Robinson shot 1-11 for the Huskies, including 0-5 from 3pt range. UCONN shot 25% for the game, and I shot 45%.

                    Team Stats
                    UCONN/Gtown
                    PTS: 44 / 65
                    FG: 14-56 / 26-60
                    FT: 14-17 / 7-14
                    3PT: 2-19 / 6-12
                    REB: 34 / 43
                    AST: 9 / 13
                    TO: 8 / 7

                    Hoyas
Sr. PG Jonathan Wallace : 10 pts, 1 ast, 3/8 fg
                    So. SF DaJuan Summers : 13 pts, 6 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl, 5-13 fg, 3-6 3pt
                    Sr. PF Patrick Ewing Jr. : 7 pts, 12 reb, 2 stl, blk, 3-6 fg, 1-1 3pt
                    Sr. C Roy Hibbert : 14 pts, 16 reb, 7-12 fg

                    Huskies
                    Jr. PG A.J. Price : 12 pts, 4-6 fg, 1-3 3pt
                    So. SF Stanley Robinson : 4 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast, 1-11 fg, 0-5 3pt
Jr. PF Jeff Adrien : 8 pts, 12 reb, 3-7 fg
                    So. C Hasheem Thabeet : 9 pts, 8 reb, 2 stl, 3 blk

                    Doug Wiggins & Craig Austrie combined for : 2 pts, 0-14 fg, 0-6 3pt!!!

Terrible shooting night for the Huskies

                    Big East Standings
                    3-0 (#6 Gtown, #15 Marquette, St. John's)
                    2-0 (Notre Dame, #13 Louisville)
                    2-1 (South Florida, DePaul)
                    1-1 (#18 Pittsburgh, Villanova)
                    1-2 (Rutgers, Syracuse)
                    1-3 (#20 UCONN)
                    0-2 (Seton Hall)
                    0-3 (West Virginia, Providence, Cincinnati)

****Should I stick with this or go to the Pac-10 because Psyblast is doing a Gtown legacy as well?****

One good thing about Pac-10 is that there are only 10 teams...you'd get to know the teams better. Thoughts?

It would be cool to see USC. But are you sure you just want to start over?

Yea I did a Gtown legacy a couple years ago and I grew REALLY tired of the Big East. A nice, cozy conference will do me good. I like the fact there are only 10 teams in the Pac-10, as opposed to 16 in the Big East. Plus, I hate playing DePaul and Providence. Every game in the Pac-10 feels like a big one. Oregon St. is the lowest team...and I know they are terrible but at least all the teams are "big name" schools.

Working on a little layout to spice up the dynasty.
