Even though it was cheapened a bit by the pitcher injury bug(it was impossible for any of my pitchers to be injured until around August when the bug was fixed)Its still pretty cool to have won the NL,especially since I'm going to be in for some long seasons when I get to 72'.

3 Run 9th Pushes Reds Past Phillies

Connie Mack Stadium,Phila.Pa.-Now that the pennant race is over, the pressure is off and Cincinnati seemed much more relaxed this afternoon and played a solid game of baseball defeating the Phillies 5-3.Down 3-2 heading into the 9th,Cincinnati used doubles by Mel Queen and Johnny Edwards followed by a Frank Robinson 2 run homer to overcome the Phillies and avoid the sweep. Here's the box score.

Braves Outlast Phils 7-5 In Error Filled Game
Connie Mack Stadium,Phila.Pa.-It was cold and dreary today in North Philadelphia, which matched the play of the Phils and Braves who both looked like they'd rather be elsewhere than on the soggy grass of Connie Mack Stadium.Although the Phillies scored first, the Braves quickly built a 5-1 lead on starter Chris Short who was not at his best today going 6 innings and allowing 8 hits and 5 runs(4 earned) and striking out 5.The Phillies fought back though and tied the game at 5 after 7 innings of play. The Braves would have more on this day though as Mike De La Hoz capped off a 4 for 4 day with a solo home run in the 8th that was followed by a Hank Aaron RBI single later in the inning that gave Milwaukee the 7-5 win. Here's the box score.

Bunning Fans 9 In 6-3 Phillies Victory
Connie Mack Stadium,Phila.Pa.-In a complete reversal from yesterday, the sun was shining,it was pleasantly warm and we got to witness a great ballgame in which the Phils were at their best taking down Milwaukee 6-3.The Phillies got on the board quickly when following a first inning lead off triple by Tony G,Danny Cater grounded out bringing home the run.The Braves struck back in the 4th with a Hank Aaron 2 run shot to left giving the Braves a 2-1 lead. The Phillies came back in the bottom of the inning to reclaim the lead when following a Johnny Callison walk and a Dick Allen single to start the inning,Clay Dalrymple doubled home Callison for 1 run and Frank Thoms grounded out bringing home Allen giving the Phils the lead for good,3-2.The Phils would add a run in the fifth and 2 in the 8th before being answered by the Braves Rico Carty's solo home run in the 9th closing out the scoring at 6-3.Here's the box score.
