NC State hires new AD to run athletic programs.

            Raleigh, NC-
News came out to day about the hiring of a new athletic director for North Carolina State University. No news of why the old AD was fired has been released yet but it took no time to figure out who the new one would be.

The new AD is Kevin Rogers. This is a first for NC State. They have never had an athletic director who was also a student at the same university.

Kevin showing his approval after hiring the message at dinner.

Fans are not sure what to expect from the new athletic director but many agree that it was time for a change.

"We will be a winning school in athletics. By the time im done with my job, not only will we have at least 13 National Championships in Football and Basketball....but we will also be the biggest school in the world...and the most popular", said new AD Kevin. Now although he may be confident, his statements are pretty out there.

I guess we will find out with time.

              NC State 2008 Preview

Mike Glennon excited about playing for State.

Raleigh, NC- Many questions about the NC State football program entering the 2008 season have fans unsure of many things. Main concern would be quarterback. Who is going to start? Many believe last year's starter Daniel Evans will get the nod but poor performance towards the end of the year make some people a little weary about that decision. Other options would be transfer Harrison Beck who started 4 games last year before he injured his arm. Also on the list of possible starters would be red shirt freshman Russell Wilson and the new 4 star recruit Mike Glennon. "We will have to see who performs best in practice because right now it is up in the air", said 2nd year NC State football coach Tom O' Brien.

Also Andre Brown and Toney Baker are coming off of injury at running back but one may be third string after the emergence of Jamelle Eugene as a star back for the Wolfpack. Another question would be that behind Donald Bowens, who will be a go to reciever for State. Anthony Hill is eligble for his senior year after being redshirted last year coming off a serious knee injury. Many believe Andrew Evans can step up in that number 2 role and also give one of the young guns a chance to step in and get some experience.

Willie Young is ready to take over captain role on defense.

A big concern for the Wolfpack would be their defense. Alot of new faces on the defensive side of the field, so Coach O'Brien is asking for senior defensive end Willie Young to take charge of the young crew and get everything going.

A tough schedule does not help the Wolfpack either. They start the season in one of the toughest stadiums to play at as they take a trip down to Columbia to play the Gamecocks. Also road game at Clemson, Maryland and UNC can be challenging for a young team. Many experts pick NC State to finish last in the Atlantic Conference this year. But fans show great optimism about the season which is almost upon us. Make OS your daily stop for all the Wolfpack news and scores.

Projected Finish- 5-7; no bowl appearance.

                Carter-Finley Stadium

Carter-Finley Stadium opened up in 1966. Named after two major contributors two the University, Harry C. and Wilbert Carter and Albert E. Finley.

Many renovations begin to take place in 2001. Carter-Finley stadium can now hold 60,000 people and home of one the nicest stadiums in the south.

Carter-Finley stadium's ring of fire included names such as Roman Gabriel, Torry Holt and Philip Rivers. It also has signs of NC State's bowl victories on the opposite side.

NC State upsets #21 South Carolina
"Big interception late proves to be costly for Gamecocks."

                            Columbia, SC-
North Carolina State entered Columbia with upset on their mind. NC State hasn't been on primetime television in over a season and now finally had their chance to show the world what Wolfpack football was all about.

South Carolina seemingly had NC State on the ropes after the first quarter. USC held a strong 17-7 lead following two touchdown passes from Chris Smelley. The only points State scored were from the 66 yard run Jamelle Eugene broke off with 5:18 to play in the quarter.

NC State rallied however in the second to take charge behind some strong defense and timely offense. Jamelle Eugene gave the Wolfpack the lead with 17 seconds to go in the first half with a 3 yard run. The halftime score from Columbia was NCSU 21 USC 20.

Daniel Evans throwing pass in 2nd quarter.
State's defense really stepped up their game in the second half. The did not allow another Gamecock point to cross the board. In the 4th quarter, NCSU padded their lead with a 1 yard run by Andre Brown. Brown was filling in for Eugene who was injured and no expected to return until the Clemson game.

The Gamecocks did have one final drive left in them but when it came to be 4th and goal, NC State's defensive captain Jeremy Gray had the game saving interception in the end zone.

NC State has their home opener next week as they take on FCS team William & Mary. Tickets are still available for this one folks!

NC State embrasses W&M, prepare for Clemson.
"Tribe stood no chance to Wolfpack attack."

                              Raleigh, NC-
NC State's home opener started off with a bang. A masterful performance by the "Power Band, Sound of the South" marching band, the crowd was already pumped up for the 2nd game of the season. Also knowing that the 'pack was up against a weaker opponent really had the fans ready for a blowout.

If anyone thought that this was going to be another case of an FCS team beating a FBS team, well by the end of the first quarter they were proven wrong. State jumped out to a 17-0 lead behind 2 rushing touchdowns from backup running back Andre Brown. Jamelle Eugene is resting up this week after being injured at South Carolina. But their was no drop off. Many people remember who the starter was last year until he got injured, and that was Andre Brown.

North Carolina State had a big 31-0 lead at halftime and just put it on cruise control from that point. Many fans left the game early knowing that the win was already wrapped up and plus it was really hot out there.

Anthony Hill diving into endzone for a touchdown.

State brought in the reserves in the 4th quarter. The backups also managed to put up 14 points before the game finished up. Many of the fans who stayed got a treat from coach O'Brien. He showcased 4-star recruit Mike Glennon in the 4th quarter. Glennon went 5-for-6 passing and also had a touchdown.

The upcoming game is a very important one for the Wolfpack. They head south to take on the high powered Clemson Tigers. Many people are already predicting a big blowout and State is a big underdog. Make sure to tune in for that game this Saturday.
