In the 5th Round of the 2008 NHL ENTRY DRAFT, the Buffalo Sabres selected 18 year-old right-wing powerforward Nick Barry, of the OHL's London Knights. In 2 seasons, the big, hard-hitting forward scored 35 goals in each year, and added a 2-year total of 82 assists, to go along with 452 PIMs and 502 hits. He was the capatin his second year, and lead his team to the second round of the OHL playoffs. The powerful, hard hitting forward has shown signs he can be a good two-way forward, and that he is an excellent leader. He'll drop the gloves with anybody that messes with teamates, or to try and swing momentum in a tight game. He has a very wicked wristshot, is a huge hitter, and has a good set of hands for shootouts and breakaways.

Position: RW
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 208
Shoots: Left
Number: 23
NHL Comparision: Los Angeles Kings RW Dustin Brown
He was assigned to the AHL, with the Portland Pirates. He started out on the 3rd line, with LW Dylan Hunter and C Marek Zagrapan.
Season Expectations:
- Score at least 28 goals
- Take 175 Shots
- Get at least 125 Hits
- Nab at least 20 assists
Barry wasn't expected to do that well, coming into the AHL as a rookie. But he proved his critics wrong, on his 1st AHL shift, blocking a big shot, throwing three huge hits, and scoring his first AHL goal on his 1st shot on his 1st shift on a breakaway(Dropped puck back to skate, kicked back up to stick, fake slapshot, and unleashed a wicked wristshot that went glove side topshelf) He then added another goal and assist.
12 games into the season, Barry has proceeded to tear up the AHL in scoring and hitting, and made it to the Pirates 1st line with Mark Mancari and Clarke Macarthur. He is leading the AHL in points, and shown that he is a clutch scorer, while also being the AHL's hardest hitting forward, and compiled the most PIMs so far this season. Here are his stats:
12 Games played - 20 Goals - 5 Assists - 25 PTS - 82 PIMs - +6 -
1 PPG - 1 SHG - 6 GWG - 5 GTG - 134 Shots - 14.4 Shot% - 127 Hits
25 Giveaways - 65 Takeaways - 22:34 Average Time on Ice

Barry has had an unbeliveable start to his first pro season so far, although he has had trouble getting teamates to finish, he is a good passer, its just that his linemates can't bury the puck.
Barry's lines:
1st PowerPlay Unit
1st 4-Man Powerplay Unit
2nd Penalty-Kill Unit
1st 3-Man Penalty-Kill Unit
Barry has proven himself to be one of the Buffalo Sabres top prospects, and could become a very succsesful player in the future with the Buffalo Sabres, the team he followed religiously as a youngster, as a hometown kid.
