**Making It To The NHL: The Career of a RW PowerForward(NHL '09 BAP)**

In the 5th Round of the 2008 NHL ENTRY DRAFT, the Buffalo Sabres selected 18 year-old right-wing powerforward Nick Barry, of the OHL's London Knights. In 2 seasons, the big, hard-hitting forward scored 35 goals in each year, and added a 2-year total of 82 assists, to go along with 452 PIMs and 502 hits. He was the capatin his second year, and lead his team to the second round of the OHL playoffs. The powerful, hard hitting forward has shown signs he can be a good two-way forward, and that he is an excellent leader. He'll drop the gloves with anybody that messes with teamates, or to try and swing momentum in a tight game. He has a very wicked wristshot, is a huge hitter, and has a good set of hands for shootouts and breakaways.

    Position: RW
    Height: 6'1"
    Weight: 208
    Shoots: Left
    Number: 23
NHL Comparision: Los Angeles Kings RW Dustin Brown

He was assigned to the AHL, with the Portland Pirates. He started out on the 3rd line, with LW Dylan Hunter and C Marek Zagrapan.

    Season Expectations:

    - Score at least 28 goals

    - Take 175 Shots

    - Get at least 125 Hits

    - Nab at least 20 assists

Barry wasn't expected to do that well, coming into the AHL as a rookie. But he proved his critics wrong, on his 1st AHL shift, blocking a big shot, throwing three huge hits, and scoring his first AHL goal on his 1st shot on his 1st shift on a breakaway(Dropped puck back to skate, kicked back up to stick, fake slapshot, and unleashed a wicked wristshot that went glove side topshelf) He then added another goal and assist.

12 games into the season, Barry has proceeded to tear up the AHL in scoring and hitting, and made it to the Pirates 1st line with Mark Mancari and Clarke Macarthur. He is leading the AHL in points, and shown that he is a clutch scorer, while also being the AHL's hardest hitting forward, and compiled the most PIMs so far this season. Here are his stats:

    12 Games played - 20 Goals - 5 Assists - 25 PTS - 82 PIMs - +6 -

    1 PPG - 1 SHG - 6 GWG - 5 GTG - 134 Shots - 14.4 Shot% - 127 Hits

    25 Giveaways - 65 Takeaways - 22:34 Average Time on Ice

Barry has had an unbeliveable start to his first pro season so far, although he has had trouble getting teamates to finish, he is a good passer, its just that his linemates can't bury the puck.

    Barry's lines:

    1st PowerPlay Unit

    1st 4-Man Powerplay Unit

    2nd Penalty-Kill Unit

    1st 3-Man Penalty-Kill Unit

Barry has proven himself to be one of the Buffalo Sabres top prospects, and could become a very succsesful player in the future with the Buffalo Sabres, the team he followed religiously as a youngster, as a hometown kid.

    Game Settings:

    Difficulty: All-Star

    Period Length: 12 Minutes

    Rosters: Default

BAP Type: Authentic (When off-ice, sit and watch from bench, determine when to get on/off ice, only control my player)

I will post all game updates and stats from now on, as well as pics, and eventually videos of this BAP, in my quest to make it to the NHL. It will also get a more personal touch, with 1st person perspective updates and so on. Thanks to any and all followers.

Hopefully you can crack the Sabres lineup. Looking good so far.

Great start to the season with the 20 goals. That should catch the Sabres eye.

I wish their AHL affiliate was still Rochester though.

For real, that'd be nice, but its a huge pain in your dynasty when all of Florida's players go to FA.

PREGAME: GAME #13 vs. HARTFORD WOLFPACK

As I suited up in the locker room, the coach walked in from his office and

approached me. I looked up and put down the roll of black tape in my

hand. He said "Barry, you've been pretty damn impressive this season, and

we love what you've done for the team, but we need you to step up, and

help get this team more wins. I've decided to give you more ice time, and

you'll be playing the point on the powerplay, you have a great shot. Darcy

Regier, the Sabres GM said he can't wait to see you in the blue and gold.

It's only a matter of time before you'll get your first crack at the NHL. You

have the potential to be a very dominant forward in the NHL. We consider

you a great leader on this team, and you could be wearing a letter very,

very soon. So get out there and prove you want to make it to the NHL,

and lead your team to a victory" With that, the coach left, and I sat there

thinking as I finished taping my new SyNergy Elite stick. Damn I thought.

maybe I can actually make it to the NHL, I just have to focus more and

find my linemates out there. C-mac and Mancari are damn good linemates,

and anyone of us could get called up. I just have to perform better, and I'll

make it. I still can't believe I got drafted by my hometown team, the

Sabres, and that I actually have a chance of suiting up and playing in the

NHL, and especially for them. With that, Captain Pat Kaleta yelled"C'mon

boys, it's game time!! Let's go out there and beat the Wolfpack's asses!!

Pirates on three!!... One...Two..Three.. PIRATES!!" and we burst out of the

locker room and onto the ice
              , prepared for battle.

Re: **Making It To The NHL: The Career of a RW PowerForward(NHL '09 BAP)**

                VS

I was pretty pumped for the game, and right off the face off I decked Dane Byers of the Wolfpack, and we dropped the gloves, he hit me first, but didn't do much and I beat him with a big right haymaker, on my first pro one-punch knockout fight.

Then, out of the penalty box, Patty Kaleta(the Captain) hit me with a pass, I went down low in the corner, stopped, shook off the defender, spun and beat the Wolfpack goalie Wiitman on a quick wrist-shot, that went 5-hole. I had just scored my 21st goal of the season, on my second shift of my 13th AHL game. I was hella pumped after that. Kaleta dished out a crazy good saucer pass, and I finished it off.

I got tripped by Dane Byers when I was getting on the bench, there was a scrum(and no call), Ryan Callahan stole the puck and scored on a breakaway, making it 1-1.

Viktor Anihilae, a 3rd liner on our team scored two goals in a row, one on a wicked slapshot, and then off the next faceoff, he took a shot on net, and a Wolfpack defenseman buried the rebound into his own net, which was pretty funny, and an easy goal, making it 3-1

C-mac(Clarke Macarthur) scored on a breakaway to make it 4-2, and when Mark Mancari took a slashing penalty, me and C-mac were put out on the penalty-kill. Clarke streaked up the left-wing boards as I hung out behind our net, I took a few strides, and flipped the puck up right to his stick, he took it into the Hartford zone, dipsy-doodled, went around behind the net, and found me wide open, tape-to-tape in the slot for a nice one-timer goal, and a shorthanded one at that, making it 5-2, and my 22nd goal of the season. That was with :48 left in the 3rd, and it pretty much sealed off the game.

                Final Score: 5 - 2 Portland Pirates

                3 Stars:

                1) POR - LW Bjorn Danielsson(2nd Line) (1G, 2A)

                2) POR - RW Nick Barry (2G, 0A)

                3) POR - G Adam Dennis (25 Saves, 92.2SV%)

EA SPORTS SAVE OF THE GAME: HARTFORD G WIITMAN

Wiitman made a cross-crease sliding save on a Mark Mancari one-timer pass from Nick Barry. It was an incredible save, at 17:52 of the 2nd period.

ATTENTION ALL OF MY BAP FOLLOWERS:

Really, really bad news. There was a thunderstorm here where I live, and as I was saving my BAP, boom!!!! power went out, and my f**king game save got deleted, so I have to start from scratch. I'm fixing rosters anyways, to make this one more realistic, because some players had been traded/drafted/etc..... I'll edit my 1st post, and edit the others, so be sure to look at the beginning posts for the next few updates..... meh, this pisses me off.
