UMASS has had their stuggles over the course of my legacy. They are rated 79 overall and their roster is loaded with with 6 sophs(3 are starters) so I look forward to seeing how they do the next 2 years. Last year they went 17-16 and this year they are off to a 4-4 start and have a huge game coming up against #3 (7-1) Marquette.

Thanks for following. Knowing people are reading makes it worth while to keep posting.

Welcome, Coach Akpnas, to the legacies still being run here and good luck in the land of "Tark the Shark".

Thanks for the shout out. You have done a great job with legacies here, I have enjoyed many of yours. I am looking forward to the transistion to here. I enjoyed 2k forums and there are a great group of guys over there posting still. Hopefully with the upcoming season we will see more people start posting and maybe I can convience some of those guys to come here too. I can't believe how bad 2k has screwed up their forums for posting legacies.

Let me know if there is a team you want info on and I will be sure to include them in mine.

Re: COACH AKPNAS LEGACY CONTINUES (2K8 HOOPS)

        (4-1) @ #1 (5-0)

Oregon State entered the game starting 4 Juniors and 1 Senior all players Coach Akpan had recruited to Corvallis. In fact there are still 9 players left in all. Coach A. Grant has kept the Beavers playing well as they won 22 games last year but lost in a emotional upset in the 1st round of the Big Dance.

This is the 2nd time Coach Akpan has played his former team but the 1st time at the Gill Colliseum.

The Beavers came storming out of the gate with A. Pandov hitting back to back 3's to take a 6-0 lead. J. Hoskins answered back with a bucket and a steal with another quick layup to make it 6-4, but then the Beavers went on a 10-0 run. Down 16-4. Coach Akpan looked to switch things up taking out D. Poopola who was 0-4 3pt and inserting J. Chiles. The size advantage worked as the Rebels mounted a comeback but then A. Zeigler and J. Hoskins picked up their 2nd fouls each and once again Coach Akpan was forced to go to his bench. The reserves struggled as no one could find their shot. When the 1st half ended a disappointed Coach Akpan looked at the scoreboard 37-52 and knew he was going to need a mircle to mount any kind of comeback.

The 2nd half didn't get any better as the Rebels struggled to hit a shot and A. Pandov continued his hot shooting. hitting 2 more 3's as he went on to score 28 pts and take home player of the game honors in the 102-72 blowout

        J. Chiles had 18 pts and 11 rebs in the loss.

COACH AKPAN VS FORMER TEAM PART 3

          (4-2) @ (4-2)

Its never fun returning to face the team you built from the ground up, but its even worse when you just got done losing to your other 2 former teams.

The Red Raiders roster is loaded with 2 Top-5 recruiting classes to the thanks of Coach Akpan. E. Clinton a 6'5 starting PG is the only lone hold over from the Coach Knight era. Clinton started strong driving and making the first shot. Then after a Rebels miss, Clinton took it down and drained a 3pt from the top of the key. Down 0-5. Coach Akpan called a quick timeout. He knew they couldn't start like they did against Oregon State.

Again Coach Akpan looked to go big inserting 6'11 P. Daniels to play along the side of 6'9 J. Hoskins and 6'8 J. Chiles and 6'8 W. Thomas with 6'3 A Zeigler. The switch up helped as the Rebels went on a 12-4 run and helped them take a 36-34 lead into the half.

In the 2nd half Thomas and Daniels continued to dominate with B. Wente and S. Hooper both in foul troubles, Coach Bennett only choice was to go small and hope to out run the Running Rebels. Texas Tech looked to Even Evenstarr a 4* FR rated (81) who scored 12 of his 16 points as the Red Raiders cut the lead from 8 to 2 with only 30 seconds left. The Red Raiders were forced to sent the Rebels to the line in hopes to get the ball back, but P. Daniels stepped up hitting 4/4 as UNLV holds on to the 81-74 win!!

          J. Hoskins took home POG scoring 20 pts 9 reb and 4 asst.
          W. Thomas added 21 pts and P. Daniels added 14 pts 10 reb off the bench.

          E. Clinton led the way for the Red Raiders with 17 pts 8 reb

UP NEXT THE 5-2 REBELS TAKE ON 5-2 GONZAGA AT HOME.

Re: COACH AKPNAS LEGACY CONTINUES (2K8 HOOPS)

            (5-2) VS

Coach Akpan is very familar with the Gonzaga Bulldogs as he played them twice a year for 3 seasons and 3 more times well at Oregon State and Texas Tech.

However that knowlege didn't pay off today as the Running Rebels continue to struggle with their shots. The Bulldogs took a 50-38 lead at the half and cruised to a 89-66 victory.

            E. Dalgarn took home POG honors with 16 pts 5 reb 5 asst 3/4 3pt.

            J. Hoskins led the way for the Running Rebels with 16 pts 5 reb.

UP NEXT THE (5-3) RUNNING REBELS TAKE ON (7-2) PURDUE IN THE JACKPOT A TOURNEY. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRACKET IS #10 (9-1) FLORIDA AND (5-5) BRADLEY

I should have the tourney results and rest of the non-conference play tomorrow as I enjoy my day off from work.

Again I hope everyone enjoys the read and please feel free to ask questions.

For those of you who might be wondering. I changed up the sliders after dominating for 9 seasons I thought it might be nice to switch things up and struggle for awhile as a adjust to my new team.

Couple tough losses. Love how you build a program then leave to build another. I'm heading into the conference tourney in the 3rd season of my Florida dynasty. I'm going to play one more season there as I recruited the #1 kid out of HS then I'm going to move on and rebuild a real bad team in a good conference.

                Keep it up Coach A!

Of course I remember you. How has life been? I was wondering what had happened to you. Cincy did a disappearing act for awhile too but he is back just not doing a Coach Ryan thread and Vols is back with Coach Dean over at 2k. I am trying to get them to switch here.

Yeah I actually just got done recruiting the 1st #1 Overall player at Texas Tech. He was a 6'3 SG from Texas. I actually landed the #1,#12,#15,#16,#19, and #31 overall. The #12 was the best PG the #15 and #16 were the #1 and #2 Center the #19 was the best PF and the #31 was the #2 SF. Whats funny is the #1 overall started out a 85 and the #31 a 81. In fact the #31 that is a 81 overall was Evenstarr the guy who just scored 16 pts in the Texas Tech game. The #1 overall player only score 5 pts.

Damn, that is a crazy recruiting class. I have yet to ever pull in a recruit that was an 80 overall to start.

Yeah I had a hard time leaving I planned on staying at Texas Tech and building them into the #1 school in Texas at basketball and try and make them a powerhouse like Duke,UNC,Kentucky,Kansas,UCLA ect.... But UNLV is one of my Top-5 favorite programs (#1 Boise State, #2 Washington St, #3 Arizona St, #4 UNC, #5 UNLV) so I couldn't pass up the chance to go there. I will probably stay unless either WSU or ASU open or if a team in the Big East or SEC come open. I have played in legacies now in pretty much every conference but them. I could've gone to either conference before I took UNLV but none of the teams available where very interesting.

                            UNLV SURVIVES 2ND HALF COMEBACK

The Boilmakers entered the game with the better record but the Running Rebels had the advantage of playing on their homecourt. Behind some solid post play the Rebels took a 49-35 lead at the half. In the 2nd half the Boilmakers tried to stage a comeback but they just couldn't stop the post play of Thomas and Chiles. FINAL SCORE 88-81.

                              CAMERON CRAZIES IN FULL FORCE

UNLV has struggled shooting on the road this season and those struggles continued tonight as the Crazies were yelling and waving any objects they could to distract the Rebel players as they fell behind early 31-45 and never recovered until late in the game. W. Thomas scored 10 of his 23 pts in the last 3 minutes of the game but E. Chambers stepped up and hit 3/5 3pt to seal the deal as the Blue Devils hung on for the win. FINAL SCORE 76-82

After the game we caught up to Coach Akpan "Well I thought we played okay tonight Poopola was hot hitting 4/4 3pt but none of his other shots were falling. I am really proud of how Thomas stepped up giving us some needed baskets at the end of the game. I was also really proud how we played defensively against some of the better players. The player that most impressed me was E. Chambers who hurt us with the 16 pts. He was rated #17 in the nation out of high school and is only a soph but on this talented team he plays the role of a 7th man.

UP NEXT THE ULCA BRUINS INVADE THOMAS & MACK WITH A 11-4 RECORD.

BRUINS HAND REBLES 2ND STRAIGHT LOSS IN A ROW AND AT HOME.

It appeared that the Rebels had this one in the bag with the support of the home crowd and some solid post play they built a 50-33 lead at the half. However the Bruins battled back and with 10 seconds left on the clock they had the ball and were only down by 3 points. D. Brooks who had only connected on 2/5 3pt on the night took the ball at the top of the key and dribbled left off a screen before stepping back and draining the 3pt shot to tie the game.74-74 UNLV had a desperation 3pt of their own fall short at the buzzer. This game was going to Overtime

In the Overtime period J. Pekola took over for the Bruins scoring 8 of his team high 18 pts in the overtime period. With only 8 seconds remaining UNLV found themselves down 3 and need a big shot to force double OT. With D. Poopola out with a ankle injury W. Leggee took the shot but it hit the front iron and bounced out. FINAL SCORE 85-88
