The Coaching Career of Bryan Pfeffuh (CH2k8)

Reporter: Whats it like to take on a prestigious job (George Washington) as a first job?
Pfeffuh: It sure beats working in a mail room as a first job. However, all jokes aside, this is quite an oppurtunity to be coaching here, especially as a rookie.
Reporter: How many years will it take to make this program the best team in the A-10
Pfeffuh: Well hopefully less, but my best guess for you is four years, because the players here are just about average for the A-10.

The set-up of this coaching career is that I am going to sim until all the players are mine (four years) and then play the games.

    The first recruiting class-
***Stephanie Hobbs, 261th overall, 88th PG
***Ebi Chapman, 385th overall, 76th PF

    The first record: 14-14

The second recruiting class (16th in the country)-
    ****D.C. Siembrandt, 65th overall, 16th SF
***Drew Finn, 122nd overall, 27th SF
    ***John-Michael Montgomery, 430th overall, 114th SG
****Joaquim Randle, 76th overall, 25th SG

    The second season: 16-13

    The third recruiting class-
*****Trent Morgan, 17th overall, 3rd SG
    ****Schafer Alexander, 82nd overall, 11th PF (6'10!)
    [missed spot ]

The third season: 13-17 was a disaster, I thought I might get fired, but I decided not to change any settings in my team, not sure why. Lazy I guess.

    The fourth recruiting class-
    ***Russell Snow, 192nd overall, 36th PF (7'1!)
***Rick Arnold, 183rd overall, 37th SF
    ***Buster Sims, 397th overall, 34th C
****Ernest Brown, 33rd overall, 16th PG
    ***Aly Clarke, 449th overall, 41st C

The fourth season: 18-12 good season

Year 5 recruiting target list (seniors):
*****Virgil Oliphant, 3rd! overall, 2nd PG
****Varney Nash, 32nd overall, 2nd PF

Alexander leads George Washington to victory, 81-59
Last nights beautiful start to the season was led by a man who wasn't even supposed to be starting. Schafer Alexander's 19 points, 13 in the first half, propeled this from start to finish. Schafer also added 6 rebounds. "He was on fire, and we fed off of his emotion," coach Pfeffuh stated. Pfeffuh, the coach for the last four years, was told that his job is on thin ice depending on what happens this season, though he refused to comment on the on the situation. Albany never even had a chance, because the stifling first half defense put on by Geo. Wash. At the end of the first half, Albany was shooting a sub-par 43 %, and were down by 23. At the end of the game, player of the game Schafer Alexander told reporters this, "You better watch out, nation. This is George Washington's year."

      Other Key Players:
      Rick Arnold 10 points
      Joaquim Randle 10 points
      Trent Morgan 11 points
Russell Snow 8 points 5 rebounds 2 blocks

Alexander shines again, Eastern Michigan falls to the Colonials 41-83
Schafer Alexander went out and did it again. Sure, they aren't playing the most talented teams in the nation, but when you put up back to back career highs in scoring, you have to be doing something right. Alexander scored 22 in this game, and 19 in last weeks beat down of Albany. "I have played well so far, sure, but we will see how I play when Notre Dame or Duke come a'callin," said the sophomore PF. He's right, those to teams will tell us a lot more about this George Mason team. Teams like Eastern Michigan can't stop the Colonials isolation, and get out on threes, so they chose to do neither in this game. "We were lights out in the second half from three," said Trent Morgan, five star recruit, who dropped 14 points. The Colonials next game is against a mediocre Toledo team in two days.

        Other Key Stats:
        D.C. Siembrandt 9 points
        Drew Finn 15 points
Russell Snow 10 points 7 rebounds

        Coach Pfeffuh's Recruiting corner:
"We are currently seeming like the number one option for both Virgil [Oliphant], who's a dynamic scorer, a good shooter, and quick, as well as Varney [Nash]. This guy is good now, but he knows he will probably redshirt because of his outstanding potential. As for my sixth class, Jordi Hendriz and Terry Boone are my main targets, both are five stars."

Re: The Coaching Career of Bryan Pfeffuh (CH2k8)

Colonials show Toledo there's more than Alexander, win 73-50
"I thought being called a five star was the coolest thing ever. Now I know that playing like one tops that," Trent Morgan told the media in the press conference after last nights whopping of Toledo. Morgan dominated the first half scoring 17 of the George Washington's 55 and the Colonials held a 25 point lead. "The fans were into it. We were into it; there is something really special about this team," coach Pfeffuh said with a giant smile after the game. The game ended looking low scoring, but that is just the class of the coach not running it up. Russell Snow had career highs in points and rebound, with 19 and 8 respectively. D.C. Siembrandt, considered the teams top player, continued to struggle to get looks, but still earned 8 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds. His back-up, Drew Finn, scored 9 points. The biggest thing in this game though was the fact that their leading scorer Schafer Alexander only scored 2 points on four shots. "We won. Its okay to have an off day once in awhile, and this is a better day to have it then against a conference foe," Pfeffuh confidently told the press.
          -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
          A10 conference records-
          La Salle (6-0)
          George Washington (3-0)
          St. Bonaventure (4-1)
          Charlotte (3-1)
          Xavier (3-1)
          Duquense (5-2)
          St. Joe's (4-2)
          Richmond (6-4)
          Dayton (4-3)
          UMass (3-3)
          Fordham (4-5)
          Temple (3-4)
          St. Louis (2-3)
          Rhode Island (2-6)

No one is ranked in the A10, but Xavier will probably get one, they have a tough schedule and beat a ranked team. They are my biggest competition as far as overall, seeing as they are an 85, I am an 86. Oh, and St. Joe's is an 87, forgot about them.

Re: The Coaching Career of Bryan Pfeffuh (CH2k8)

Buffalo hangs around, lose to the unbeaten Colonials 80-53
For the first time this game Coach Pfeffuh didn't come out of the locker room telling the sideline reporters that he wasn't gonna run up the score. Why? They weren't up by 20+ points at half time for the first time this season. The clincher in the game was a 13-0 run in the second half that revitalized the team. Despite the fact Buffalo was the strongest oppponet up to date on George Washington's schedule, the Colonials still felt they could've played better. "Besides that one stretch, they honestly played right with us," Trent Morgan said, after recording 14 points. Schafer Alexander sprung back to stardom, scoring 25 points and grabbing an insane 8 steals. Siembrandt added 11 points, Finn gave 10 more.

Next week the Colonials take on U of Delaware, then go to Duke, and then play Notre Dame at home the very next day

            -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach Pfeffuh's Recruiting Corner (National Signings Day)-
"Our recruits both told me that they are not ready to make a commitment but that if they had to, it would be for George Mason. These kids are program changers. If we could land these two, I think we would start to bring this team to the next level. We already are in the cream of the crop for majors, but I think these guys will put us amongst the elite. We'll see"

Before the Buffalo game I bumped it up to all american as opposed to all conference, but MOP might be where we end at.

Late three pointers will Colonials to comeback victory; win 76-66
"That was not just another win, that was resilience and heart to be able to make a comeback like that so quickly," Bryan Pfeffuh, coach of the undefeated Colonials told the press. After being down five at half time, and 10 with 7:30 minutes left in the game, George Washington caught fire. They started draining threes, 3 by Drew Finn, who had 15 points, all in the second half, and 2 by Trent Morgan, who dropped 19 points. That propeled them to a 15-5 run, and they eventually cruised to a win thanks to the strong play of the players mentioned as well as Aly Clarke, who scored 8 points and grabbed 10 boards. Joaquim Randle also had a solid game scoring 12 points.

Next up on the schedule are the ever-so-talented Duke Blue Devils, whom the Colonials are battling for both of their top recruits. "As far as the future, this is the most important game of the season," Coach Pfeffuh said. The 3-5 Blue Devils look to knock off the undefeated Colonials, and steal the recruits away with it. That should be an interesting matchup. In other news, coach Pfeffuh announced that Drew Finn will be taking D.C. Siembrandt's spot in the lineup. Finn is scoring 10.4 a game off the bench while Siembrandt is merely scoring 7.9.

Colonials get mauled by the Blue Devils 40-68
Duke's stifiling defensive play proved way too much to handle for a young George Mason team. "Our big three was stopped cold by the terrible reffing, and they couldn't make a shot to begin with anyway," coach Pfeffuh said referring to Schafer Alexander (4 points 4 fouls), Drew Finn (2 points, 1-11 shooting), and Trent Morgan (10 points, 4 fouls). Morgan was the only player to hit double figures, as the Colonials shot 32 percent from the field compared to the 56 percent of Duke's slow down offense. Next up for the young Colonials is Notre Dame, another big school with a lot to prove this year. "We have a lot to work on, but we will hopefully have Duke penciled in for next year," the Colonials coach foreshadowed, then he followed his silent team to the locker room.

14-0 run to end first half propels Colonials to blow out win 94-56
"Wow. This was quite a win. That was by far the best we have ever played on offense or defense," George Washington coach Bryan Pfeffuh exclaimed last night after a huge win against the Fighting Irish. The Colonials have proven themselves this year, with only one loss, in an ugly game against Duke, but the one thing that stands out is the balanced attack. In this game, Trent Morgan had 23 points and 5 rebounds, Schafer Alexander added 12 points 6 rebounds, Russell Snow recorded 10 points and 5 blocks, D.C. Siembrandt put up 16 points, and Aly Clarke had 11 points 6 rebounds. "We are a team, and we play like one," was Morgan's response when asked why they are so balanced. Despite that fact, Morgan is the best player on the team, at least as far as the last few games went. He averages 15.7 points a game, second to only the A10's fifth highest scorer this year, Schafer Alexander.
                    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                    A10 standings-
                    La Salle (8-1)
                    George Washington (6-1)
                    St. Bonaventure (6-1)
                    Duquense (8-2)
                    St. Joseph's (6-2)
                    Xavier (5-2)
                    UMass (5-3)
                    Dayton (6-4)
                    Temple (6-4)
                    Charlotte (4-3)
                    Richmond (6-6)
                    Fordham (5-6)
                    St. Louis (4-5)
                    Rhode Island (4-7)
                    Wow, the A10 is strong.

Well the Notre Dame game didn't save so I simmed and we won, but now all the stats from the last article are void. Sorry! Also, some of the standings are off too, La Salle is undefeated again.

Colonial crush a solid Northeastern team 75-53
George Washington gives another monsterous first half then slows the game down. That's how almost every game has gone this season. They were not about to stop against Northeastern. "We really got inspired by that first loss," Trent Morgan, who had 18 points told the media, "and now our team is really firing on all cylinders." Morgan has been the heart and soul of this squad, scoring 14 of his points in the team's 55-32 first half. Schafer Alexander continued to suprise, scoring 14, and Finn rounded out the big three with 9. Russell Snow, the 7'1" freshman who looks filled with potential, scored 9 as well. Coach Pfeffuh loves the freshman, saying "Snow was recruited on height and potential. I never in a million years thought I would be starting the kid until he was at least a junior. Now look where we are."

The team's upcoming schedule includes Northwestern, Florida, then Boston College.

Thriller showcases primetime Finn and Morgan, Colonials win in OT 90-84
We could go into detail about this back and fourth, basket trading, lead changing game, but I say we start at the 2nd half 39 seconds until the final buzzer. George Washington has the ball and they get it to their star Trent Morgan, who finished the game 20 points and 5 rebounds despite being very cold in the final 7 minutes, who sees Schafer Alexander open from mid range, his favorite spot, so he passes him the ball. Alexander puts it up, trying to force the issue to early in the clock. The ball clanked off the rim but wouldn't you know the man who drove his team back into the game, Drew Finn, who had 28 points, 9 of them on three consecutive possessions with a Finn three pointer with his team down 5, at that point 2 minutes remaining, got the offensive rebound. Instead of taking a contested lay-up over Northwestern stud Saul Mulic, who had 25 points and 14 boards, he dribbled it out and passed to Joaquim Randle, who dribbled the clock down to fifteen and took a time out. Randle had 11 points and 6 assists. Alexander inbounds to Randle, but wait, Armond Shakur of the Wildcats steals it. They get the ball to PF Dan Monroe who takes a desperation three despite the eight seconds still remaining. He misses but the Wildcat's SF was there for the rebound. He shot, but Russell Snow provided one of 2 blocks at the perfect time. They get a fadeaway three, but airball, OT.

In OT the Colonials jumped out to a quick lead and we are going to fast forward till there are 34 seconds left. The Colonials are up five and Schafer Alexander is intentionally fouled after grabbing a rebound. He has a chance to put the game away, but misses the first right into Mulic's waiting hands. He hits the PG Malesa who has a wide open three, but misses, and Randle comes up with the rebound only to be fouled. He, of course, misses his free throw with 27 seconds left. The Wildcats set up Monroe for three again, and it results no better, and with a rebound and a made free throw, George Washington finally put Northwestern away. What a game. "Wow," was the only word coach Pfeffuh could find in his head to describe such an instant classic. Player of the game Drew Finn said afterward "I love college basketball. These are the games you dream of. This is why we practice 11 hours a week. For these moments."

Coach Pfeffuh's media press conference, about the first roughly third of the season:

Reporter: How do you feel about your team's impressive record and strength of schedule to go with it?

Pfeffuh: I knew we were a capable team, but it hadn't shown in years past. We finally are getting our feet wet, but we are yet to make that dive in to supremacy. We still have a lot of tough matchups though- Florida, BC, St. Joe's, La Salle, and Kansas St., so we shall see if we can hold it together.

Reporter: Coach, how do you feel about your recruiting class so far?

Pfeffuh: Contrary to the fact we don't have a 'class' yet, its coming beautifully. Duke backed off of four star Varney Nash, but if Georgetown offers him a full-ride we may have our hands full. As far as Virgil Oliphant, we are recruiting as hard as possible, and he told me the other day that us and Duke are virtually deadlocked, but we have a slight advantage. Not in so many words, of course, but I am sure he won't deny that he implied it.

Reporter: How do you feel you stack up with the rest of your conference?

Pfeffuh: We definitely are among the leaders, but I am going to let my team's play do the talking as far as that goes. However, i have already told my team that winning the A10 championship is not on top of the priorty list, since we have everyone coming back. We just want to go dancing this year, and it looks like we have very good odds of that right now.

Reporter: How has the recent play of Sophomore Trent Morgan brought your team to the next level? Also, how has starting Drew Finn helped out your team?

Pfeffuh: Trent is a tremendous student athlete. He has lifted this team and he really showed resiliency after the Duke game. The kid is also a natural bron leader, and it shows out there on the court. Finn is just terrific. He is an outstanding three point shooter, an effective slasher, and so incredibly clutch down the stretch. D.C. is also a big spark off the bench.

                            Reporter: Thanks coach.

                            Pfeffuh: Anytime.

Nice Read so far. I like the idea of simming the first 4 seasons. I have been very tempted to start a new legacy once the rosters are done but it looks like its going to be awhile so I decided to just start posting my legacy where I am in year 11 and at UNLV but now after seeing this I might start a new legacy but just do something similar to what you did here.

How long do you plan on staying at George Washington? Do you have a certain conference or team you hope to move to next?

Good luck with your recruiting those would be some sweet players to land at G.W.
