So I got to Hershey for Bears practice to find out Carey IS SECOND LINING WITH RYAN SHANNON AND NICKLAS BACKSTROM Which left me with a temper for the practice which is not good. But Before I hit the ice Coach told me that even if I get the call to the NHL he and Bruce want me to put 234 shots on goal and pot 36 they also want 28 helpers and 64 points. I stood there trying to hide my stunned gasp before hoping onto the ice.

Practice went a little something like this. Couple 3 on 1 ruches couple chances but MAN I’VE NEVER BEEN HIT SO HARD Jeff Schultz nailed me IT WAS BRUTAL. At least on the next play I ripped a 1 timer home. Coach said this was an intro practice so it was either 60 shots or 50 rushes. We (Chris Bourque Alex Giroux and I) decided to be fancy so Giroux potted one with the wide open net. Then a little miss communication as Bourque tucked one in the open side. We potted mostly 1 timer’s and before we knew it, it was game time...

My line mates for this game against Houston were LW Oskar Osala and C Alex Giroux. IT’S TIME FOR MY HOME AND AHL DEBUT!

1st Period:

So the first was interesting I started with good defensive play until about the one minute mark Rockers or Rogers scored to give us a 1-0 deficit. I managed my first AHL shot and the 2nd shot of the game with a hard one from the top of the right faceoff circle but it was easily turned away. My first AHL goal was a little odd I was below the left circle and I guess their goalie slipped as I went roof daddy. This is a little weird it feels like I’m Ovechkin playing peewees and trying amazingly hard. I got hit with a pass in the mid slot and just threw a backhand on goal that went in! I then laid out Ryznar I think with a massive body check I guess that camp paid off. I guess I’m more of a threat than they thought as I got open in the slot and shot a wobbler home for my first career AHL hattrick in my first period in my first career AHL game! Not only that but shortly after Sami Lepisto wired one from the blue line home making it 4-1 bears! I managed to stay physical putting on a few more hits but nothing came out of the rest of the period.

2nd Period:

I started the second with a little move that made the coach happy by diving to block a shot. I then threw a hit after a pass and then flattened Olvecky with an epic hit knocking him off the puck. Now I hit Schultz off the puck I thought I was a sniper not a grinder! Maybe I’m both. Then the Aeros got closer as Scott John or John Scott scored on a backhand beating Varlamov. Again playing the body I knocked the socks off Locke. The crowd started booing the ref for a penalty as their F***’n goalie tripped me up! The second basically ended with nothing except the score going from 4-1 to 4-2.

3rd Period:

Giroux managed a breakaway but couldn’t do anything. In transition Olvecky put one home to bring the Aeros within one. Minutes later Earl fired a knuckle ball one timer home to tie it! What a third! I then took a high sticking penalty in frustration which we managed to kill off. On the lighter side Sasha Pokulok used me as a screen to wire one home to restore our lead. With the empty net the clock wound down and we won the game due to Pokulok who got third star. I managed to real in first star with my hat trick though.

Jeff’s thoughts:

What a game I love the rush of the AHL although my hat trick might have had something to do with it. I can’t wait for the next game I’M SO PUMPED WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Well today i was a little pissed because my first career AHL hat trick
won't count as AHL and NHLPA has discovered that the puck was rigged and controlled in a secret room under the rink. The game is expected to take place tomorrow. I personally think that that might have had something to do with me beating the goalie 3 times on easy chances.
