Re: Indians Chapter 4, Page 2(Home Opener)

The Cleveland Indians had there home opener this afternoon aganist the Chicago White Sox and picked up the win by a score of 4-0.

"I'm pleased with our efforts on the day and I'm glad we got the shut out." Martin said following the game.

Elis Burks went yard for the fourth time this year, a two run bomb in the bottom of the seventh inning.

"I'm off to a fast pace this year, lets hope I can keep it up." Burks said following the game.

Brandon Phillips who is playing instead of the suspended Ricky Gutierrez went 0-4 on the day.

" I would have like to get a hit today, but these thing will come later on." Phillips replied in the clubhouse.

Indians starter Brian Anderson got the complete game shutout to go along with the four K's he picked up during the game.

"When we got into the eighth I started getting a little gassed, but I wanted to stay out there until I had to give the ball up and I never had to so it all works out well."

With the win, Anderson improves to 2-0 on the year and Mark B. dropped to 1-1 with the loss.

The Indians as a team improved to 5-2 while the Sox dropped to 3-4 with the loss.

    Next Game: Indians(5-2) v.White Sox(3-4)

Re: Indians Chapter 4, Page 1(Gutierrez suspended)

      Quote:

Indians Second baseman Ricky Gutierrez has been suspended for three games for violating a team curfew in Kansas City

"Ricky knows you're supposed to be back at the hotel by 2:30 AM, I did room check. No Ricky. I get the bellboy to unlock the door, no Ricky in the room either. So I sit in the room and at 5:15, Ricky stumbles in smelling like alcohol. I told him this morning that he will be suspended and he understood completely."

Brandon Phillips has been activated to fill the void at second base.

Further Note: Manager Martin's series preview radio show has been cancelled due to the events listed above.

I'm guessing this is just a way to get Brandon Phillips in the game, it's not a bad move though, that guy is awesome.

Behind the effects of a 2 rbi double by John McDonald in the second inning allowed the Cleveland Indians to hold off the charge of a three run top of the ninth inning from the Chicago White Sox

"That two run double turned out to be bigger than we thought it would be, if he hadn't have gotten that, who knows what the bottom half would have held in the deck for us." Manager Andrew Martin said following the game outside the teams bus.

Also chipping in was Brandon Phillips who went 3-4 and scored twice.

"It was nice to get a hit, even better to get three and come around to score twice, it made me feel like I was really helping the team out." Phillips said.

The White Sox got all three of their runs in the top of the ninth inning on a two run double by Paul Konerko and an RBI double by Frank Thomas

"We tried to gun the runner down at the plate but he was safe and the next thing we knew he was chugging into second." Andrew Martin said.

yeah it was a way to get him into the game, and since he wasn't injured and there isn't any suspensions I just gave him a team one.

The Cleveland Indians Management has been unimpressed by the play of catcher Jason Bard They have already told him in a closed door meeting that he will be traded or released by the end of the month.

"I'd like to pick up a young catcher to fill the void, but if I can't I'm sure I can get one off the free agent wire." Manager/GM Andrew Martin told the press following the meeting.

Re: Indians Chapter 4, Page 5(break out the brooms)

Yes indeed it was a sweep. Though it was even closer then the one run score would indicate.

"We got out of a few jams, that saved our *** late in the game." An exhausted looking Andrew Martin bellowed out at the post game press confrence.

The difference was made by back to back homers by Elis Burks(5) and Karim Garcia(4)

"Elis could have had another one if it hadn't been robbed."

It was a heck of a catch though, Ordonez looked like he ripped the ball out of a fans hand with his glove. Expect Major Leauge Baseball to take a look at that one.

On the night that Ricky Gutierrez was supposed to return, he didn't even get past the introductions.

"Batting seventh and playing second base, please welcome back number 2, Ricky Gutierrez" The PA announced bellowed out.

The fans welcomed him back by booing, heckling, and throwing things at him.

Ricky responded with a one finger salute, to which his manager responded to by throwing him down and chasing him off the field.

Finally the game got under way and it wasn't much of a game. Elis Burks scored an inside the park homerun, however he wasn't given the homerun just the RBI.

Matt Lawton and two others all smacked two run blasts.

                          J. Westbrock got the complete game four hit shut out.

Ross will be the starter tomorrow aganist the royals. Schumpert will be Brandon Phillips backup at second base.
