    Patriots Go Down Gunning
Iowa St. Outlast George Mason 65-62 at Home

The Patriots took to the road again going into Iowa St. Both teams matched up well from the beginning and neither team could pull away. Iowa St. led for much of the second half and seemed to seal it with a 3 by Jimenez with 1:29 to go up 8. But the Patriots fought back and cut the lead to 1 with 8.5 seconds left. After Rand stepped up and hit both of his free throws it set up a chance to tie the game with a 3. They ran a play off the top of the key freeing up Holt for a pretty good look. The shot was off in time but hit front rim as time expired.

George Mason 62, Iowa State 65

UPDATE: Michigan Recruiting Targets - *denotes Scholly offered
      (3 Offered)

Marqus Willingham* - #5(pos)#11(ovr) 5'11" PG HS AA
Interested Teams: 12 Schollys: 3 || Moved up to 3rd on Willingham's interest list. I'm at 94%, the two teams above me are West Virginia (#1) and Notre Dame. Willingham would be a hit in Ann Arbor right away with his great 3-pt ability. His #1 priority is being close to home, so it looks like West Virginia has the edge on him.

      Rick McCants* - #3(pos) #131(ovr) 6'10" C
I need a big guy. Right now 6'8" is my tallest guy, that won't cut it in the Big 10. Still between me and Ohio, both at 100% interest level. Unfortunately it shows Ohio as #1, so we shall see what happens.

Dreike Blalock* - JC FR 6'6" SF
Athletic swingman that can hit the 3 on occasion. Blalock looks to be locked up for Michigan. With 7 teams showing interest for his services, Michigan is far ahead of the other teams on the interest meter (99%)

Early Recruiting Signing period starts next week, Michigan looking to get the commitment from Blalock. Up next, Coach Vaughan heads back home to Portland to face his former squad. Should be a tough one Portland is rated 88 overall against Michigan (81 overall).

        Michigan(81) @ Portland(88)

        Bitter Sweet Home Coming
Coach Vaughan returned to the team he led to a National Championship 2 years ago. Coach was welcomed with a standing ovation from the fans and even the Portland players. But on the court things didn't go as well for Vaughan. Portland's defense stymied Michigan's offense holding them to 32% shooting. Gary Swanson led the way for the Pilots, scoring 14 and grabbing 8 boards.

I felt like I was in it the first half. They had about 24-4 run in the second half to blow it open. Since I built the team, they can all shoot. What was neat to see was Swanson do so well down low. He posted me up all day, something I didn't do while I was the coach there. There is a big let down going to Michigan from Portland, mainly the shooting abilities of the two teams.

It will be interesting to see how well the CPU does with that squad.

Oh yeah I forgot that was your squad before moving to Michigan. I guess you really can't complain about that loss now.

                Complacency Kills
The Patriots Survive Their First Conference Test
George Mason came out hot jumping to a 21 point half time lead. Paced by 16 first half points from star sophomore Freiedrich Holt. The second half was a complete role reversal as Drexel dominated play forcing turnovers on a press that George Mason had been breaking all game. They would take a lead with about 5 minutes to go until Nelke took over and scored 6 strait points to claim the lead and hold it until the final buzzer.

                    Centenary(78) @ Michigan(81)

                    Michigan Falls at Home
Coach Vaughan welcomed back the program where he began his career. He may think twice about inviting them again. Centenary came out blazing shooting an unthinkable 66% in the first half. Michigan held tight and had a chance at the end. Lavender missed a chippy with 35 seconds to go in a 1-point game. After Centenary made 2 free throws to make it a 3-point game. Michigan inbounded the ball with 2.8 seconds and Gabler got off a 25 footer that rimmed off. Michigan falls to 1-2 on the season.

UPDATE: Michigan Recruiting Targets - *denotes Scholly offered
                          (3 Offered)
Michigan loses out on two recruits:

Marqus Willingham Signed WVU - #5(pos)#11(ovr) 5'11" PG HS AA

                          Rick McCants Signed Ohio - #3(pos) #131(ovr) 6'10" C

Dreike Blalock* - JC FR 6'6" SF
Athletic swingman that can hit the 3 on occasion. Blalock looks to be locked up for Michigan. With 7 teams showing interest for his services, Michigan is far ahead of the other teams on the interest meter (100%)

Britton Schmieder* - JC FR 6'0" PG
                          84% interest in Michigan. Slight lead over Syracuse,Marq,Ind,Mist. 3Pt(B-) Pass(B-) Def (C+)

                          Coy Krywonis* - #8 C #188 OVR SR C 6'11"
Still need a big man after losing out on McCants. Coy is a big body with A rebounding skills.

Ya, for a while I didn't think they could miss. Just one of those games, I was lucky to have a shot in it.

Still have a few guys from my team on their now. I'm curious to see how the new recruits are. B-Lo tore it up but I think the other 3 guys were new recruits.

Gophers Can't Dig Themselves Out of a Hole
George Mason Jumps Out of the Gate to a 66-56 Win
Riding high after their first win George Mason rolled into Minnesota just looking for a good outing. What they found however was one of the best first half performances you will ever see. The shot 65% and held the Gophers under 30% to have a 23 point lead at half. The second team for the Patriots came in early in the second half holding onto a 15 point lead with 6 minutes left to go. The Gophers would not go down with out a fight as they caught fire down the stretch and locked down the Patriot offense. Cutting the lead to 7 before freethrows from Erik Bland and Vic Jack would ice the game in the final minute of play.

                                George Mason 66, Minnesota 56
