      Part 2 of the Mall

Nick and I were slowly making our way towards the mall when we saw a huge commotion going on infront of EBgames. We made our way over to see what the fuss was all about. We saw a short teenager, 5'10 at least, getting pummeled by a much larger fellow, at least 6'5.

"And this will teach you to mess with my girlfriend" the larger man said.

Nick and I went to protect the smaller one, but the larger man's friends stopped us.

"Don't be interferring with the boss' fight" they said.

We ignored them and went on to help the little guy. Nick pushed the big man off while I helped out the man who's nose had started to bleed.

"Hey, are you alright?" I asked.

"Yes, well not to everyone, but I'll be fine" he answered.

"What'd you do anyways" I asked once again.

"Well, I was talking to this ape's so called "girlfriend", then we went ******** on me" he repsonded.

      "What's your name?" I asked.

"Well, if you must know, I'm Jeff Shannon, the hockey prospect, no autographs at the time please" he said while smirking.

Nick walked back over after he finished slamming his fists into the larger guys face.

"You really have nothing on us, your ranked to go 9th Overall in the Draft today, right?" Nick asked.

"Yes, and how do I have nothing on you guys, your probably ranked 5th round" he smirked back.

"Umm, well not really, I'm ranked 7th overall, and my buddy here, is ranked to go 1st Overall, Jason Skyland and Nick Barry at your service" Nick said while acting smuggly.

"Your, Jason S...Skyland" he desperatly asked.

"Umm, yes I am" I quietly answered.

I wasn't much to brag about where I was ranked on the NHL draft, not like this kid Jeff or Nick over here.

"I'm sorry I acted so brash, please forgive me" he sinserely said.

"No problem man, how about we all go get some soda's and all go to the draft together?" Nick asked.

      "That'd be great" Jeff answered.

So we all went to get soda's and headed home.

              Draft Time Baby!!

Well, the moment was finally here, the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Cameras were buzzing around like bees on a sweet smelling flower. Some prospects were doing early interviews with the media, like Steven Stamkos and Alex Pientrangelo. The three of us were so nervous, Nick had to resort to carrying a puke bag in his pocket, with breath mints and spearmint gum in the other of course. The time came where we all went to sit down. Gary Bettman, the commisioner of the National Hockey League came over to begin the draft.

"We're all proud to be here with such a young crowd" he started off.

"It's amazing of how current NHLers are taking part, in welcoming the new generation of the National Hockey League" he said while pointing towards Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin. The two simply waved to continue his speech.

"I am proud to announce that the 1st Overall pick belongs to the Tampa Bay Lightning" he said while mounting down from his podium.

"Thank you Gary, I am pleased to have the pleasure to draft with the 1st Overall pick, the fans of Ottawa have been great during our stay here" GM Brian Lawton said.

"I am pleased to announce the Tampa Bay Lightning select with the 1st Overall pick, Sarnia Sting center Steven Stamkos" he announced.

A blonde young man rose up from the applauding crowd and hugged his parents before walking up to meet Lawton and the staff of the Lightning. He took his white and blue Lightning jersey and posed with the group of much older men. The Lightning stepped dwon from the podium as Gary Bettman made his way back to the stand.

"The next pick belongs to the Los Angeles Kings" he simply said before rushing back off the stage.

Luc Robitaille, legend and General Manager of the Lightning stood into the microphone and said "The Kings are proud to say that we draft Guelph Storm defensemen Drew Doughty".

Again, there was much applause, but not as much from me. I could feel my hopes crashing down on me, the projected 1st Overall pick not picked with the 1st two picks. I suddenly felt a lot better as I thought to myself: "Come on Jason, pull yourself together, the draft just begun, there's plenty of time. But suddenly, the draft just came on without anyone announcing the name "Jason Skyland" as Atlanta took Zack Bogosian with the 3rd Overall pick. Then the St.Louis Blues took the huge defensemen Alex Pientrangelo 4th Overall and the Leafs took defensemen Luke Schenn fifth. My hopes were sinking like the Titanic after it hit the iceberg as the Blue Jackets took Nikita Filatov 6th Overall, but I suddenly felt my pocket buzz: I just recieved a text message on my phone.

"Keep you hopes up Skyguy" the message said. It was from Jeff, the three of us were seperated seats whise. As I put my phone back in my pocket, it buzzed again, this time from Nick.

"*** **** GM'S, NOT TAKING US YET, LOL" it read. I smirked to myself and put my phone back in my pocket. The Senators then jumped up to the podium and Bryan Murray stood into the microphone.

"The Ottawa Senators are proud to select..." he was interrupted by the cheers of Scotiabank Place. "Jason Skyland of the Oshawa Generals" he finished.

I leapt from my seat, hugging m father and mother, then my baby sister. I ran down the aisle, giving high fives to Jeff and Nick on my way down. I thanked the white haired man who selected me and pulled on my jersey over my suit. I got in a group photo and rushed to the back where the other draftees were sitting. Stamkos and Doughty congratualted me even though we weren't good buddies. I was all smiles, and my smirk increased when I saw Nick walk in with a Thrashers jersey on.

"Talk about a delay!!" he said through his grin.

I only laughed as Bogosian rushed passed me to see his new teamate. Then we were almost breaking our jaws laughing as Jeff was doing the robot to get himself in with his Capitals jersey on.

"I'm all about style dudes" he smirked.

We chilled out by watching the rest of the draft go on. I saw Michael Del Zotto be taken by the Rangers as I smirked as he joined us. He was a Generals teamate. We talked about who would get the Calder, as Stamkos and Doughty got major consideration. We talked about where to celebrate and invited Bogosian, Stamkos and the other draftees to dinner.

Part 2 coming soon people. Probably tommorow.

Day 1 as a Pro Hockey Player

Well, I had finally woken up at 1:00 PM after a wicked awesome party. I've never in the life drank until this much that my hangover nearly killed me. Well, I didn't almost die, but it feels like I can drop dead anytime now. I slowly rose to sit up in my bed, realising what I saw on my bed: A Sens draft jersey and a Senators hat. Thank god that wasn't a dream. I was now official Senators property, yet I hadn't gotten my call from Bryan Murray and the Sens yet, I knew I was going to play Pro hockey. My cellphone, conviently placed on the table next to my bed, started to ring. I hastily moved over to grab it and answered my phone.

                      "Helllooo" I said sleepily.

"Umm, yes this is Bryan Murray, GM of the Ottawa Senators" he responded.

I quickly woke myself up and said "Yes, this is Jason Skyland".

"Okay, Jason, the front office have decided what to do with you, I'm sorry but you are not coming with the Senators" he announced.

I knew I wasn't going straight to the NHL, but I still kind of dropped a little.

"Yet, we are not sending you back to juniors" he slighty said.

"What are you implying sir?" I questioned.

"Your going to play for the Binghampton Senators" he said, finally getting to the point.

"American Hockey League eh?" I responded.

                      "I accept".

"Good, we'll get the AHL head coach in contact with you in the next couple of days" he said.

"Than-" I started before he hung up.

I hung up my cellphone, looked into space for a couple minutes, then finally got out of bed.
