In a game that was close through out with neither team having more than a 7 point lead, it would be the Memphis Tigers coming out on top, 69-67. The game started out sloppy for both teams with bad turnovers and some poor shots and the Tigers leading 18-14 halfway through the 1st half. The Wildcats would take the lead a few minutes later but both of Kentucky's point guards, Liggins and Porter would get up to three fouls and Memphis led at the half 36-34 despite the Wildcats only shooting 35% compared to the Tigers' 47% and getting outrebounded 18-13. Meeks would hit a 3 pointer just over halfway through the 2nd half to give Kentucky the lead back once again but by this time both Liggins and Porter had already taken their 4th fouls. The game would back and forth until the final minute when with Kentucky down by 1 with 50.4 seconds left, their halfcourt press would force Memphis into a turnover. Meeks would miss the shot though and Stevenson got called for over the back giving Memphis a 1 and 1. They'd make the first but miss the second and on the next play with the shotclock dead, Meeks would miss the buzzer-beating, semi-open 3 pointer giving Memphis the win.

Patterson leads the Wildcats to victory with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Another sloppy first half for both teams, especially Kentucky as Liberty would lead 28-27 at the half. The Flames would shoot 35% in the half, but that was better than the Wildcats' 33%. The two teams would go back and forth at the start of the 2nd half before Kentucky would go up 48-47 just before halfway through and then they decided to put out the Flames with a 15-2 run over 3 minutes that Liberty wouldn't recover from as Kentucky would roll on to a 73-59 win.

Considering the losses were to Memphis and UConn, I'm not complaining about 3-2 at all.

Another slow start by the Wildcats, as they would trail by as much as 11 in the 1st half before cutting the deficit down to 5 at the half. And in the 2nd half, it would be the Jodie Meeks show as he would score 20 of his 26 points in the 2nd half as Kentucky would end up running away with this one right from the start of the 2nd half, going on a 15-4 run to start the half that the Tigers wouldn't be able to rally back from. Miller was strong off the bench for the Wildcats scoring 11 points and pulling down 7 boards in only 14 minutes of playing time.

Good victory over Texas Southern, sometimes those little teams can give such a struggle.

Can they ever. They were just shooting the lights out at the start of the game, I think they sunk their first 5 3-pointers. But then the 2nd half started and it was the complete opposite thankfully.

This was the Kentucky team that Coach Gillispie was waiting for to finally show up this season. The one that plays a full strong 40 minute game. The Wildcats pretty much ran away with this one from the start leading 16-11 halfway through the 1st half before really turning it on to take a 34-20 lead into the half on 52% shooting and holding the Seawolves to an embarassing 25%. In the 2nd half, the Wildcats played their bench for the most part and they also finally showed that they can play as well. The challenge gets a lot tougher though, as Kentucky hosts #1 North Carolina in four days time.

In a game that was actually closer than the score shows surprisingly, the Tarheels unsurprisingly managed to come out with the win, led by Danny Green and Tyler Hansbrough with 20 and 18 points respectively. Kentucky led 25-24 halfway through the 1st half, helped out by both Thompson and Ellington having taken 2 fouls, but the Tarheels would be leading 50-41 at the half once the benches came into play more and the fact Stevenson was on the bench after taking his 3rd foul with about 9 minutes left in the half still. The 2nd half was back and forth the whole way, with the Wildcats pulling within 4 a couple of times, but never any closer. Jodie Meeks would lead all scorers with 21 points to go along with a ridiculous 6 steals. But the surprise of the game had to be Patrick Patterson who outdueled Hansbrough scoring 19 points along with 8 boards and 7 assists. Again though, all for naught as it would be the Tarheels picking up the 91-81 victory.

Yeah, I'm starting to get a feel for everyone and what they can do. Hopefully we can knock off at least one of our ranked opponents this year.

                                Dewitt Commits to Kentucky

On the first day of the senior signing period, Coach Gillispie and the Kentucky Wildcats got exactly what they wanted to hear. #1 ranked center Leo Dewitt has decided to come to Lexington next season. The 7'0", 231 pounder averaged 15.1 points with 9.3 rebounds as well as an astounding 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks per game in the ABL and will almost definitely at worst be a first option off the bench next year. With their only scholarship to give this year handed out, the focus now is on recruiting for next year when the Wildcats will have 6 scholarships to hand out, assuming SG Jodie Meeks doesn't enter the draft this year.
