    Kentucky 72, Indiana 65

If anyone on the Indiana team had played half as good as freshman 2 guard Nick Williams, they would've won this game. Williams would lead all scorers with 25 points and added in 6 rebounds to go along with it. Fortunately for Kentucky, no one else came close as only center Tom Pritchard would even score in double digits for the Hoosiers. The game was close throughout, with the Wildcats only leading by 4 at the half, thanks in part to star Jodie Meeks taking his 3rd foul with 6:50 left in the 1st half still. Indiana would tie it early in the 2nd half, but could never actually grab the lead and eventually Kentucky went on an 8-0 run just around halfway through the 2nd half that most figured would put away the game for UK. That was not the case though as Indiana would tie the game once again with just over 5 minutes remaining. The lead would go back and forth from that point on until with 1:15 left and the Wildcats up by 2, Patterson was fouled to put Kentucky into the 1+1 bonus. Patterson would make the first shot and miss the second but Harrellson would grab the rebound and put it in. Indiana would go down the floor and miss their shot before Porter nailed a wide open 3 to give Kentucky an 8 point lead, ending any hopes Indiana would have of a comeback.

The Wildcats would come out strong in this one, starting out on a 12-2 run. But a few minutes later Miller would injure his knee going in for a layup that would leave him out for the rest of the game. After that point, UAB would start slowly chipping away at the lead trailing 46-40 at the half. UK shot 57% in the half compared to UAB's 51%. Coming out of halftime, the Blazers would quickly tie it up, but the Wildcats woke up once again as they would go on a 21-5 run to take a 16 point lead and coast to the 89-84 win. Liggins and Meeks would both score 21 to lead Kentucky while Patterson and Harris added in 20 and 15 respectively. UAB's Robert Vaden would lead all scorers with 27 though and center Jeremy Mayfield also had a strong game, picking up the double-double with 12 points on 6-8 shooting and adding in 13 boards.
