Duke had a hard time overcoming a game 3-5 Clemson squad at Wallace Wade. Duke fell behind early and often against the TIgers. They had killed the Tiger D on offense but couldnt put it in the endzone. Douglas scored on a TD but was called back because of holding. Then the very next play a HB screen was picked off. Clemson then scored and took a 7-0 lead into the 2nd quarter. Duke continued to turn the ball over in the red zone. Clemson scored again with 2 secs left in the half to take a 14-0 lead at halftime. Then the 1st offensive play in the 2nd half things got worse for Duke. Douglas gets hurt and is out the rest of the game with a sprained elbow! It's all up to Wade now. On the play Douglas fumbled for the 1st time all year and Clemson recovered. They ended up with a fg and now lead 17-0. Duke's undefeated season is now in serious trouble. Duke wakes up with 7 mins left in the game to finally score a TD by Wade. Then Clemson comes right back with a score! So now its 24-7. With about 5 mins left. Duke rushes down and another TD by Wade!!!! 24-14. Then Duke gets a 4 and out! They get another TD by Wade!!!!!!!!! 24-21 Clemson! Do you believe in miracles? Duke forces a Clemson turnover by intercepting a HB Screen Pass!!!! Now with less than a min left Duke has the ball on the Clemson 32 yd line! Duke then gets a bomb to Reggie Love to set the ball up at Clemson's 4 yd line. They go to Wade and he scores!!!!!!!!! Duke now leads 28-24! Clemson has 2 timeouts and now has the ball but on the kickoff they fumble!!!! Duke recovers!!!!! They score again another td run by Wade and Duke escapes 35-24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! Joe Steele on the game "We survived and advanced! That was our close call every title team has a close call sometime during the season I hope that was ours. Now we need to beat Ga Tech in Hotlanta and UNC here to get the Victory Bell. Oh yeah and we need Miami or Nebraska to get beat so we can go to the Fiesta Bowl. Don't worry folks Chris will be back next week. It's too bad he didnt get a TD today but Wade stepped up and we are grateful and glad we have someone that can come in and do the job." Duke moves to 11-0 (6-0 ACC)
