    My Pittsburgh Pirates WSB2K3 Franchise...

Well, I did a fantasy draft to start, after some wheeling and dealing, I managed my way to a 20-34 record, taking up residence in the cellar of the NL Central. I had just got route by Toronto in Interleague play, and decided to auto-sim my way to the deadline, MAYBE make a few deals, auto-sim to the ASG, play it, and then auto-sim to the end of the year and start anew the next season..

My first year "to do" list and roster was like this...

C: Jason Kendall (Dealt Varitek away to get some more speed and higher average)
1B: Travis Hafner (Dealt away Sexson when he turned into a prick and asked to be traded)
    2B: Joe Thurston
SS: Eckstein (streaky, but solid D)
3B: Joe Randa, Eric Chavez (Got Chav when he was on DL, had to eat 10 days of his DL stint, but well worth it)
    LF: Giles
CF: Ludwick (solid D, and above average bat, but streaky)
    RF: Raul Ibanez

My pitching was good, but bullpen sucked, so my starting pitching was Mark Prior, Tim Hudson, Roy Halladay, and a rotation of #4 and #5's...

Bullpen sucked, but Julian Tavarez kept getting notched into my lineup, night after night, I kept bumping him to bullpen, and was always afraid of bringing him in in critical situations, because, well, quite frankly, he sucks a fat one...

I basically threw up the white flag, and ruled my season a bust and advanced to the next season, in the FA's, I didn't renew Randa's expensive contract, I signed Mike Cameron to a 3 year deal, I had to re-sign Halladay for more than I wanted to pay him, but he's solid so why not? In relief I picked up Scott Sauerbeck, Bruce Chen, and roberto Hernandez, I tried to drop Julian Tavarez to the minors and call up Charlie Bates (the guy my scouts found and said he's good for Mopup "Now") and it says, "Julian Tavarez is not eligible for demotion and will cost you 1 BP to release him, wish to proceed?" Needless to say I couldn't hit that "YES" button enough times! And to anyone that picks him up, "May God have mercy on your soul!"

Well, started up my second season yesterday, and jumped off to a 4-0 lead, the Reds came back and took a 8-4 lead, and I managed to tie it up at 9 with a 2-out, 2 run shot by Giles in the bottom half of the 9th. Only to lose in extra innings, then I blew out Cincy in Game 2, and won Game 3 5-3 with Halladay going 8 innings, closer pitching the 9th.

I know, I know, I'm bored today, but so far it seems my off-season deals are making me competitive and figured I'd share.

I had to laugh when I read about Sexson and Tavarez in your franchise. I've had other guys give me similar headaches.

Oh my God... if only you KNEW how bad Tavarez is for me! There has been, get this, SIX outings for him for me that he's given up at least 3-4 hits before even recording an out! Granted, I won't let him shoulder the whole blame, I could've throw poor pitches on my part, but SIX outings?!!! Nah, I just chalked him up as a bust... I think I'd rather create Jose Canseco and toss him in the pen in Julian's place...

Tavarez also sucked a big one for me in ASB! Someone actually claimed him off waivers when I tried to demote him, so I gladly let that team take him.

I had been cruising right along towards the end of the season when I got my *** handed to me by the Phillies 11-4. I had 3 errors and 5 unearned runs in that game. Carlos Febles (stop-gap fix at second base because Pokey Reese is out for the year with glaucoma) had a slow grounder go between his legs.

Carlos Febles sucks Unfortunately, I have no one to play second. I have a decent prospect in the minors but he's only 18, Brandon Larson can't hit worth a damn and he's my backup everything utility guy, and Nunez is...well...Nunez.

I was playin my franchise yesterday and noticed the diamondbacks resigned Johnson for 1 year 120 bps. Thats huge ! I play the mets, and I had burnitz, alomar, vaughn all with huge contracts. I managed to trade away burnitz (somehow) and alomar before the all star break, but vaughn is producing huge. Needless to say i went from way negative numbers in available to offer contracts to +9. I got some young talent and I am making a run at the pennant.

Long ago in High Heat 2002 Tavarez was still with the Cubs. After 3 seasons his average season was 19 wins with a 1.07 era. Can't say the same for ASB 2004 or WSB 2k3.
