Long ago in High Heat 2002 Tavarez was still with the Cubs. After 3 seasons his average season was 19 wins with a 1.07 era. Can't say the same for ASB 2004 or WSB 2k3.

I got my *** handed to me by the Phillies 11-4. I had 3 errors and 5 unearned runs in that game
Sounds like my game last night against Philly. I was up 3-1, final wound up being like 11-4 or something along those lines... then I won my second game against them like 9-2, so it evened out... sporting a 3-2 record and I TRIED to get out the whole series against Philly last night, but time kept me from doing so so I only got in the two games.
My bullpen is pitching pretty well, I'm actually thinking that Philly score was 12-7, after my start gave up 4 runs in 2 innings I pulled him for the bench, and the BP kept me in the game until I brought the game to 9-7 them, then they hammered out 3 more runs in the 8th to put it out of reach. But I think I used 6 relief pitchers and 4 of them allowed no runs. So it's going up for last year.Comment

Re: My Pittsburgh Pirates WSB2K3 Franchise...
I'm really looking like a contender this year so far...
Mark Prior pitched a 6-hit complete game shutout against Philly in the third game of the series. Tim hudson gave up 4 runs in a win versus Milwaukee when my team exploded for 17 runs, 10 of which were scored while Hudson was in the game, so he got the decision in my 17-7 win. Then the next game John Burkett schooled me, I managed a solo shot by Eric Chavez in the 4th inning, and that was it until giles hit a solo shot with 2 out in the bottom of 9. Final score wound up being 11-2, Roy Halladay took the loss. Which makes that back-to-back poor outings for Roy, so I used Roy as a ticket to upgrade my bullpen. After the game I worked out a deal sending Roy Halladay and Grant Roberts and 3 BP's to someone for Tim Spooneybarger and Damian Moss, both Moss and Spoon are both signed to identical contracts (1 BP, 2 years) so this deal not only upped my bullpen, it lowered my salary. I wouldn't have dealt Halladay so quickly but Bruce Chen has been solid as a relief/starter... he pitched two scoreless inning of relief for me in a win versus Philly, then started the next game allowing only ONE RUN...Comment

Re: My Pittsburgh Pirates WSB2K3 Franchise...
Heartbreaking loss last night... I jump off to a 3-0 nothing lead. my rookie starter Greg Sweeney is pitching well, allowing hits, but staying out of trouble. I got a big break early on, when Miguel Tejada lead off with a double, I retired Edgar Renteria on a shallow popout to leftfield, and when Carlos Delgado stepped to the plate with his hot bat, I opted to give him a free pass. I throw my first pitchout, and Tejada takes off for third! He's easily picked off for out number 2, so I went ahead and pitched to Carlos, who, in turn, roped a double but was left stranded on 2nd. I tack on an insurance run to make it 4-0, only to have Sweeney pitch a bad inning and give up 3, and two innings later he gave up two more and was pulled. Leaving the mound with a 5-4 deficit. We go into the bottom of the 8th, same score, and they tack on an extra run. 6-4 Milwaukee.
I failed to convert on two excellent scoring opportunities. First was when Kendall doubled to lead off the bottom of the 8th. Next batter lined right up the middle to the 2nd baseman, standing like 2' from the bag, Kendall got doubled up, ending the threat. Giles smashed his league leading 9th homer in the bottom of the 8th with 2 down to get us back in the hunt. 6-5 Milwaukee.. second scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the 9th. Lead off with a hit, it looked like my speedy batter could get to 2nd, and instead was dead on arrival, in a call, I feel was a little too close. Actually there was three chances to tie, with 2 down in the bottom of the 9th, I pinch-hitted Ryan Ludwick for my pitcher and he roped a single, and promptly stole second... only to have it go for nothing when the next batter grounded out to second to end the game, giving Billy Wagner the save.
That concludes my 3-game set versus the Brew Crew.. where I lost my first series of the season.Comment
