    Enzo Field Completed

Today the construction of Enzo Field was completed. This new field contains all the new features included in all modern ballparks, and is said to be a very fan friendly environment. The outfield walls are covered in ivy similar to Wrigley Field. The surface is very rich long grass that will help pitchers and infielders. Down right and left field the fences are 330 feet, and deep center is 408 feet from home plate. Enzo field will be home to 36,500 spectators for sell out crowds.

                Spring Training

The Austin Outlaws left Arizona today to head back home and rest up for opening day. They finished out their Spring Training a disappointing 3-7. Darin Erstad stole the spotlight, batting an incredible .437 with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs in 8 games. However, the player that impressed coaching the most was shortstop Cesar Izturis. He batted an even .500 in 6 games, and it looks as if he has earned his starting shortstop position over Royce Clayton.

It was opening day at Enzo Field today, and a sell out crowd was on hand to witness the first game of the Austin Outlaws Franchise. The Red Sox got off to an early lead when Andy Pettitte walked Jeremy Giambi, and Trot Nixon capitilized with a 2 run shot in the 2nd inning. The Outlaws answered back when Tino Martinez got an RBI triple in the third. From then on, Pedro Martinez was just too dominating, striking out 11 in 8 innings of work, and only allowing 5 hits. Pettitte was pulled after the 8th inning, and Kyle Farnsworth came in hopes of keeping the game close. These hopes were shattered when Nomar Garciaparra hit a lead off home run, followed by a string of 3 hits and 3 runs. After the 9th, the Red Sox now had a commanding 6-1 lead. The Outlaws did their best to come back, and even after a 2 run home run by Loretta, the Outlaws fell 6-3. Loss: 6-3
