Re: Madden 2004: Restoring the Roar

I apologize for letting this dynasty die. I am reviving it, and will be updating in the next few days.

Sneak peek: The Lions travelled to Denver, took an early big lead, only to see it vanish under a hail of Bronco kick return TDs. The Lions took the lead late, but the Broncos drove the field, looking for OT....

Re: Madden 2004: Restoring the Roar

Kay, skipping along. The Lions dropped a heartbreaking 33-30 OT decision to the Broncos, but bounced back with a thrilling 39-36 win in San Francisco. The matchup back home with Dallas would prove to be an instant classic and one of the NFL's all time greatest.

It seemed it would be a defensive struggle as the Lions gripped a 3-0 lead after a quarter. The Cowboys' offense however seemed to shock and awe the Lions with three long TD passes in the second for a stunning 21-3 lead that extended to 28-3 after three with another 60+ yard TD pass.

The Lions were plummeting to a 3-3 record and a blowout loss at home, when the man known as Primetime came through in the clutch.

With the Cowboys driving for a 35-3 lead, the Lions finally caught a break as Deion Sanders stepped in front of Quincy Carter's pass and high stepped 68 yards to the house to make it 28-10. After a Dre' Bly INT, James Stewart pounded it in from 2 yards out but the 2-pt. try failed and it was 28-16. Aaron Glenn intercepted Carter and two plays later Charles Rogers hauled in a 42 yard TD. In a matter of minutes, a 28-3 lead had evaporated to 28-23.

When Glenn picked Carter off again, the Lions went for the lead, but Cowboy CB Derek Ross stepped in front of Rogers in the endzone and weaved his way 101 yards back for a 35-23 lead. The crowd at Ford Field cried in despair and many departed for the exits. However, Eddie Drumond rumbled the returning kickoff into Dallas territory and a couple plays later Joey Harrington found a wide open Az-Zahir Hakim for a 35-30 game. The Cowboys got a big return of their own and produced a FG, 38-30. Another huge Drummond return set up an explosion from Ford Field as James Stewart smashed his way through for a 27 yard TD with 2:05 left. Stewart dove across the goal line and tied it with the 2, 38-38.

The Cowboys however did not play for OT. They went for the win. The Lions run defense stepped up and they crucially used their timeouts. Dallas' Billy Cundiff booted a 53 yarder with 36 seconds remaining. Ford Field held its breath. Dallas 41, Detroit 38. Drummond dominated with a 54 yard return into Dallas territory. Drummond finished the day with 212 returning yards. After a long pass to Rogers to the 30, the Lions spiked the ball with seven seconds to go. The crowd turned to Jason Hanson, who was only 1-3 on the day. Coach Steve Mariucci decided to heave one towards the endzone however, hoping there would still be time left and there would be no interception. In the huddle, Harrington's eyes locked on Rogers.

In a miracle equivalent to Terrell Owens' catch in the playoffs a few years back vs. Green Bay, Charles Rogers pulled up behind his first defender and in front of his second and got Harrington's semi-lob on the goal line in the endzone with two seconds left. Ford Field exploded along with the fireworks. The Cowboys' offense stared into space and their defense looked around helplessly as the Lions tackled the Cowboy returner and won the thriller, 45-41.

The Lions (4-2) ride an emotional high into Chicago (3-3) next week.

Re: Madden 2004: Restoring the Roar

In a very uneventful game, the Lions massacred the Bears 49-3. ROBERT PORCHER returned a fumble for a TD and also had an INT. Charles Rogers went INSANE. 11 catches, 212 yards, 3 touchdowns.

Joey Harrington leads the NFL MVP voting so far, followed by Rogers, who is running away with WR and ROTY awards.
