First Quarter
Freshman Garrett Rivas started things off with a 28 yard FG. Michigan's defense held, and Steve Breaston's 32 yard punt return set up Chris Perry's 12 yard TD with 1:58 remaining.

Second Quarter
Midway through the second Michigan extended their lead to 17-0 when John Navarre connected to Tyrece Butler for a pretty 8 yard lob TD pass. Texas however, responded furiously in the final minutes of the half. Chance Mock scored from three yards out and Linebacker Aaron Harris snapped a Michigan drive at the knees with an 87 yard return for a TD of a Navarre interception.
Halftime: Michigan 17-14
Third Quarter
The only scoring in the third quarter came on a 21 yard pass from Navarre to Jason Avant to put Michigan up 24-14.
End of three: Michigan 24-14
Fourth Quarter
Chris Perry blew the game open with two early TDs in the fourth-a 14 yard run and a 7 yard catch. David Underwood put an exclamation point on the win with a 20 yard TD with 2:24 to go. Texas WR Tony Jeffery scored a meaningless TD with 30 seconds to go.
FINAL SCORE: MICHIGAN 45, TEXAS 21
Perry earned game ball honors with 25 carries for 144 yards and 2 TDs along with 8 receptions for 82 yards and another TD. Navarre set the all-time Michigan record for passing yards in a game, going 26-37 with 400 yards, 3 TDs, and 2 INTs. Braylon Edwards took a small step towards earning the #1 jersey, snagging 6 catches for 110 yards.
