ESPN NBA 2004 Nuggets Franchise (Continuation of 2k3)

I'm going to try and do this legitimately (Through in-franchise trades), however if it doesn't work then I'll be forced to abuse the ability to change rosters before a Franchise, and I'll simply recreate the rosters of my 2k3 franchise.

First moves will be to get rid of any staff that aren't master, and upgrade, since my team should have a low salary. The one *loss* that will happen due to my favourite player retiring, will be that of my only veteran, Arvydas Sabonis.

    Nuggets starting lineup

    PG - Travis Hansen
(One of those random created 1st year players that appear in Franchise. He was a 6'4 guard with decent passing/handling/stealing a good mid range shot.)

    SG - Marko Jaric
(I love having 2 or 3 player on the floor who can pass well at all times, he can do this as well as hit the 3 most of the time)

    SF - Nikoloz Tskitishvili
(7' tall, handles well, great shooter. Needs to improve his post ability, mostly defense. When matched up against Marion or any good post SF, has a lot of trouble. Luckily on offense he simply shoots over the top of them)

    PF - Maybyner Hilario (Nene...)
(I noticed they once again robbed him of a decent stealing stat, check out his numbers last season, he was between 16-21st in the league in SPG! Yet a 50 rating? I'll have to change that, probably a 60 or 65 at least... An excellent shotblocker, can finish in the paint provided the ball only has to travel a short distance from his hands... He rebounds, he runs faster than most other guys his size, and he even hits that midrange when I need him too. We won't pay attention to his abysmal FT shooting

C - Yao Ming (He might be the hardest to acquire through conventional means. Having Marcus Camby, Carmelo, Andre Miller, etc will help in having trade bait for players like him. I don't really see how the Rockets would give him up, and I will compensate them by probably giving them Carmelo and a Center, as well as a pick...)

2nd squad (I play a 10 man rotation with everyone getting minutes, subbing guys out for their personal backup as their energy wears down)

    PG - Junior Harrington
(Although more skilled than Travis Hansen, he is not as accomplished a passer. When Junior is on the floor, I'm looking for him to post up weaker PGs, and drive on the slower ones. He can finish very well.)

    SG - Jiri Welsch
Upon close inspection of him compared to Marko Jaric, I found that while he isn't as good of a shooter, he can still drain 3s, pass well, and can even post up far better than Jaric. Whether he will be able to use this in a league overflowing with good SGs, there are many bench SGs who can't play a lick of defense, and he should be able to take advantage)

    SF - Vincent Yarbrough
(Another holdover from the original Nuggs roster. Yarbrough can pass a little, and last season when I had him and Hilario on the floor together there were many alley-oops thrown as a result of Hilario's man coming to attempt to stop the excellent driving Yarbrough. He is quick, but his defense is a serious question mark...

An interesting note on Yarbrough is that he will be forever burned into my memory as the player unfortunate to have Kobe dump the behind the back crossover into a 360 dunk on him. Poor Vince

    PF - Pat Burke
(I believe he is a free agent this year, so he should be easy to grab. He's a big body that can hit an open shot, and post up a little as well. I'll use him to bring opposing strong PFs out of the post, after Hilario likely picks up a few fouls...)

    C - Arvydas Sabonis!
(The only way I'll be able to get him into my lineup, is to remove him from 90s West by taking 90s west and planting it into a Franchise... Then I'll have the dubious task of trading for one of the 14 greatest players of the 90s West (No Hakeem, no MJ...)

I'll fill out the roster with a couple situational players, maybe quick guy who dunk, and a 3pt shooter.

I'll get started later on today, and if theres any interest I'll do my best to keep you informed.

you aren't even curious as to how 'melo is gonna turn out? But I guess for Yao, it's a toss up.

I'm somewhat curious, but as pathetic as it might sound I'm more interested in seeing Tskitishvili and Hilario develop...

Tskitishvili isn't going to see much time having to play behind Carmelo, he's a little too soft for PF right now.

As amusing as it is to watch him play SG (I did this on X-Box live for a long time, running Yarbrough at the point) I think in 2k4 he would get eaten alive.

I suppose I could manipulate the trades a little, and keep Carmelo if possible... Although even then I would prefer to watch a quick big man develop again... Bah!

What my team really needs, is a good pure PG. If I create Sabonis, its unnecessary, because he's an excellent passer, and running the offense through him in the post is my ideal situation.

Also, what worries me is how comfortable I've gotten with 2k3. I can run fast breaks, play a 2-man game with a post player and a perimeter player, pick and roll. This time does all of this well. Sabonis/Hilario/Yao/Burke playing post, Tskitishvili can play both, I LOVE the way my games play...

Until I look at the box score and notice that despite Jay Williams dishing 20 assist, I won by 35 and had 8 of my 10 rotation in double figures while Hilario and Sabonis blocked 6 a piece and Yao has a triple double...

I'm wondering if one of the developers has a son/relative who played college ball last year...

Situation:NBA 2k3, I need a point guard in my franchise. I take a randomly generated 6'4 PG named Travis Hansen as that extra PG.

Fast forward to now, I'm updating the 2k4 rosters, I see the Hawks have a 6'6 SG from BYU named TRAVIS HANSEN... He has a face and everything! Was it just blind luck that he was in 2k3 as a generated name?

First I'll be posting the roster changes. Due to the fear of Superstar difficulty (I'll get to that...), and a few real world roster changes, I decided to see what I could do.

I'm under the 500k cap more so than any other team, so I certainly didn't abuse that.

                      New Denver Nuggets Starting Lineup

                      PG - Marko Jaric
                      SG - Jiri Welsch
                      SF - Ron Artest

                      PF - Troy Murphy
                      C - Arvydas Sabonis!

The notable acquisitions are Ron Artest and Troy Murphy, both upgrades over Vincent Yarbrough and Pat Burke. Ron Artest bring defense, and Troy brings even more rebounding.

Using the 2004 Nuggets roster, this means I sent away quite a few players. I'll probably edit this post to inform anyone interested of who went where, and if you like you can tell me whether you think my lineup is reasonable, or if the trades were fair...

Game 1 of the NBA 2003/2004 season.

San Antonio Spurs @ Denver Nuggets

                            12 Minute Quarters
Off. Fast Break Slider increased to match Def. Fast Break Slider
Dunk Slider taken down 1 notch
                            Awareness (O&D) sliders maxed out
Above changes were for both User/CPU

It was a very interesting game in that it was my first game of 2k4, I played some 24/7 with my brother's copy, and had a look around, but that was it.

Right off the bat I noticed that Nene was Ice Cold, and Duncan was On Fire! A quick change put Yao on Duncan, and I was off.

A concern I had was that like 2k3, whether they scored or not, an abundance of offensive boards and quick scoring meant no team could keep up. By having a bench 10 deep, I always assured that barring an injury, I would always have 5 guys on the floor who could score. Double teams would mean nothing to me.

It looks like I'm going to have to mess with the sliders a little, because while this was only one game, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the NBA. Tim Duncan had a monster game with 50 points! I absolutely could not stop him. Nene eventually fouled out trying to defend him after a switch.

In addition to Nene fouling out, Marko Jaric fouled out, and Junior Harrington bruised his hip only to return later with a noticable limp. I took him out and during the final 6 minutes had Jiri Welsch and Sabonis taking turns initiating the offense. Sabonis did a great job here, because they were forced to double team him, and Sabonis is in my opinion the greatest passing center of all time (The developers agree with me, 80 passing.)

Despite a great showing by Duncan, several Spurs players scoring double digits, and Parker dropping many, many dimes, the Spurs were absolotuly demolished on the offensive boards... Now I take you to the box score, which tells the real story of why the Spurs simply couldn't stop the dynamic offense of GM Mike Arient's (Me) excellent off season recruiting.

                            Notable stats for Spurs
                            Points, Duncan - 50
                            Rebounds, Duncan - 17
                            Assists, Parker - 21
                            Steals, Ginobili - 5
                            Blocks, Duncan - 7
                            Turnovers, Parker - 13

As you can see, it was an interesting game to say the least.

I'm going to have to change the pace of the game somehow, first attempt will be to lower the speed... The game did seem like it was a little hard to control at times, and at times I even felt like the computer couldn't possibly have reacted due to the speed of my button pressing more than anything else... Guys would execute dunks in the post as if there wasn't 260-300 lbs of guy in their way.

Thoughts anyone? Took a while to write that out, I was watching the Cavs@Kings while I did it.

Also can anyone give me any tips on formatting ^^that^^ so that it is readable?
