Re: ESPN NBA 2004 Nuggets Franchise (Continuation of 2k3)

Game 1 of the NBA 2003/2004 season.

San Antonio Spurs @ Denver Nuggets

    12 Minute Quarters
Off. Fast Break Slider increased to match Def. Fast Break Slider
Dunk Slider taken down 1 notch
    Awareness (O&D) sliders maxed out
Above changes were for both User/CPU

It was a very interesting game in that it was my first game of 2k4, I played some 24/7 with my brother's copy, and had a look around, but that was it.

Right off the bat I noticed that Nene was Ice Cold, and Duncan was On Fire! A quick change put Yao on Duncan, and I was off.

A concern I had was that like 2k3, whether they scored or not, an abundance of offensive boards and quick scoring meant no team could keep up. By having a bench 10 deep, I always assured that barring an injury, I would always have 5 guys on the floor who could score. Double teams would mean nothing to me.

It looks like I'm going to have to mess with the sliders a little, because while this was only one game, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the NBA. Tim Duncan had a monster game with 50 points! I absolutely could not stop him. Nene eventually fouled out trying to defend him after a switch.

In addition to Nene fouling out, Marko Jaric fouled out, and Junior Harrington bruised his hip only to return later with a noticable limp. I took him out and during the final 6 minutes had Jiri Welsch and Sabonis taking turns initiating the offense. Sabonis did a great job here, because they were forced to double team him, and Sabonis is in my opinion the greatest passing center of all time (The developers agree with me, 80 passing.)

Despite a great showing by Duncan, several Spurs players scoring double digits, and Parker dropping many, many dimes, the Spurs were absolotuly demolished on the offensive boards... Now I take you to the box score, which tells the real story of why the Spurs simply couldn't stop the dynamic offense of GM Mike Arient's (Me) excellent off season recruiting.

    Nuggets
NAME MIN PTS REB AST STL BLK TO FGM/A 3PTM/A FTM/A FLs
    Jaric 28 8 3 2 3 1 3 2/11 0/2 4/4 6
    Welsch 31 16 6 2 1 1 0 7/14 2/2 0/0 3
    Artest 31 22 9 5 2 1 4 10/22 0/2 2/3 2
    Nene 18 31 12 1 1 1 2 13/23 0/0 5/8 6
    Ming 32 21 23 6 3 7 5 7/17 0/0 7/9 1

    Harrington 16 2 1 3 1 0 4 1/2 0/1 0/0 3
    Hansen 23 10 6 1 1 3 4 5/14 0/2 0/0 2
    Tskitishv. 18 17 2 1 1 1 0 8/17 1/6 0/0 1
    Murphy 27 15 16 4 1 2 2 6/18 0/0 3/4 1
    Sabonis 21 21 16 7 0 4 3 10/15 0/1 1/2 0

    Team N/A 163 94 32 14 21 27 .451 .187 .733 22

    Notable stats for Spurs
    Points, Duncan - 50
    Rebounds, Duncan - 17
    Assists, Parker - 21
    Steals, Ginobili - 5
    Blocks, Duncan - 7
    Turnovers, Parker - 13

As you can see, it was an interesting game to say the least.

I'm going to have to change the pace of the game somehow, first attempt will be to lower the speed... The game did seem like it was a little hard to control at times, and at times I even felt like the computer couldn't possibly have reacted due to the speed of my button pressing more than anything else... Guys would execute dunks in the post as if there wasn't 260-300 lbs of guy in their way.

Thoughts anyone? Took a while to write that out, I was watching the Cavs@Kings while I did it.

Also can anyone give me any tips on formatting ^^that^^ so that it is readable?

It's pretty readable as it is. Good job. This sounds interesting and I can't wait to get my copy of 2k4.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
