    Kangaroos lose opener in Syracuse

Syracuse, NY(AP) In the second game on the opening day of the Kush Pre Season Invitational was a game that turned out to be much closer then people would have expected.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers were the heavy favourites and they did in fact pull out the victory, but it was closer then it should have been.

The Gophers led by six at the halftime break and had a lead as big as 22 but the Kangaroos proved just why there is the word fighting in front of Kangaroos as the battled back to close the deficet to four thanks to some key three point shooting from bench players Edmund Coles and Clint Long.

"Edmund(Coles) went out there and he hit his first three shot attempts, all of em were of the three point style, sure he went ice cold shooting after that but he worked the ball around and found open guys.

But it didn't work out the way Kansas City wanted it as they lose by nine 69-60

The Kangaroos next game is aganist Norfolk State at home on at 7 pm local time.

    Kansas City Kangaroos 0-1

          Kangaroos win home opener

Kansas City, Mo(AP) It was a night of firsts tonight in Kansas City, the first start of the year for guards Edmund Coles and Clint Long who impressed once again tonight in front of the home crowd, it was the first win of the year for the Kangaroos, and it was the first career win for head coach Laurence Taylor.

"We played our asses off out there tonight, we hustled at both ends of the court, we got rebounds at both ends of the court and we hit the big shots when we needed to hit them," said an emotional Laurence Taylor following the game.

Junior center Alvin Smith had a whale of a game as he picked up 16 points to go along with an amazing 22 rebounds on the evening.

"That's probably the best performance of my career," said Smith following tonights game.

As we stated before the new backcourt duo of Coles and Long started off quick scoring the teams and the games first tweleve points off of a pair of three pointers each and stayed hot until the final buzzer with Coles finishing the better of the two with 24 points. And the Kangaroos pick up the twenty point victory by a score of 67-47

With that the Kangaroos improve their record to 1-1 on the season. Their next game will be on Tuesday December 9th at home aganist Loyola(Ill.) Ramblers.

          Kangaroos 1-1

Your team is looking good, kept it close with Syracuse and blowing out the inferior teams.
