On campus star power forward Jason Maxiell is known as "Max", and in no way does it refer to his volume. If his nickname were based on his volume, he would be known as "Min." When asked about his minor hamstring injury he suffered against Purdue, he responded "It's Alright", when asked if he will be starting Saturday at Dayton, he replied, "Word" and when asked whats new in his life he simply said, "Not much." Max is a very quiet kid, but makes up for it on the court by showing his skill. Known around the school as being very mute, Maxiell did say he needs to work on becoming a verbal leader. Max is a standout senior and eye candy for NBA scouts everywhere. Coach Huggins talks about Max more than Max talks about himself. Huggins told us, when he is told to perform a play on the court, he simply gives a response of "Word." Jason Maxiell did have something to say though that is a little longer than "Word" or "Not much", he said his grandfather James Maxiell told him something when he was a kid he has never forgotten. "Don't say nothing, sit back, watch and listen. You learn a lot more without opening your mouth."

    Word.

Very good work but having Souleymann as your starting center or even getting significant minutes is not very realistic at all. He is not even close to being ready to play. He is currently the last man off of the bench behind two of the three walk-ons. You should just start Maxiell and Hicks at the 4 and 5. I hope that we have this good of a year in real life. Keep up the good work, it is nice reading for a Bearcat fan.

He really isnt that bad in the game, he is a great rebounder and hardly ever misses a put-back, his only weakness is he isnt good at the line and he is fouled alot. I think Hicks is better off the bench (for me, not real life), he can come in for Souleymane, Maxiell or White, if they are tired or in foul trouble. Next season I plan on starting Hicks at PF when Maxiell leaves. Play with Soul, he's not that bad, and his ratings go up quickly.

Jason Maxiell grabbed a team high 7 rebounds, and 5 Bearcat players had two or more steals.

The Bearcats stay at the number 12 spot, as the Irish of Notre Dame fall to #11, and the Deacons of Wake Forest jump back into the Top-10 moving to the #7 spot. The Bearcats are trying and trying to break into the Top-10, they just need to prove they can beat a tough team. The only hard teams they have really faced this year were Dayton, Northern Iowa and Vanderbilt. Here is a look at the Bearcats next three games.

Monday 12/20, Home vs Jackson St. (2-6)
Jackson St. is averaging 56.3 points a game this year and should be an easy win for Cincinnati.
Team Leading Scorer: Forward, Hilton Tompkins

Wendesday 12/22, Home vs La Salle (3-4)
La Salle is also a below average team, only putting up an average of 62.5 points a game.
Team Leading Scorer: Forward, Steven Smith

Monday 12/27, Home vs Miami (OH) (2-4)
Miami of Ohio averages 54.7 points a game, and the Cats shouldnt have much trouble winning in Cincy before they start Tournament play on 12/28.
Team Leading Scorer: Guard, Chet Mason

Again, like every game this season for the Cats, turnovers were key in the win. They forced 18 turnovers off 16 steals, and were able to score 27 points off the Redhawks turnovers. The 24 fast break and 33 bench points also played a big role, as the Bearcats still have not had a game where their bench has contributed less than 25 points.

Although Cincinnati is favored to win the tournament, dont count Santa Clara out. They are known to be a very dangerous team from beyond the arch and can rebound very well. Plus, they will be playing with homecourt advantage throughout the tourney. The Bearcats start off by playing the Yale Bulldogs, a team that only averages about 67 points a game, while the Bearcats average over 80 a game.
