Re: OK State and Pitt Display An ESPN Classic.

    Damn, tough, tough loss.

How did Lucas end up doing?

On a positive note - legacy is real nice, and you should be able to handle Duquesne easily.

Goodness, he did nothing at all..

          ..to help his team.

Was he in foul trouble or did he just not contribute?

I forgot to add that Krauser had about 5 steals. Lucas was just not productive, and Krauser put lockdown defense on him. Lucas didn't get into foul trouble until the second half. He had 2 straight charges. Krauser stepped up and played tremendous defense.

                  Pitt finally rolls over Duquesne

                  Duquesne Dukes @ Pittsburgh Panthers

The Pitt Panthers host the in-state rival Duquesne Dukes as their last home game before going to a neutral site to face the Memphis Tigers.

The Panthers took a while to heat up, and the Dukes took advantage of the Panthers' slow start. The game was actually competitive for the first half. Pitt still lead 41-35.

In the second half, the Panthers hit their stride and ran all over Duquesne. Carl Krauser was the beneficiary of plenty of assist in the open court. Keith Benjmain had a breif career game dishing out 9 assist. Again, the guards dominated the game, and Pitt eventually won 76-46.

                  Pittsburgh Stats
Carl Krauser 17 points, 3 assist, 7 rebounds
Mark McCarroll 17 points, 8 rebounds
keith Benjamin 13 points, 9 assist
Chevvy Troutman 4 points, 14 rebounds
Chris Taft 7 points, 6 rebounds

Next Game on the road vs. Memphis

After the week, Pitt's loss to Oklahoma State moved them to #18 in the Media Poll and #20 in the Coaches Poll

                      Rivals Updates Top 5 Signees

The signing period has just recently ended, and unfortuneatly, Pittsburgh was not able to reel in any talent yet. They are still recruiting a top 5 prospect who has a slight chance of coming to Peterson's Events Center.

These are the Top 5 Recruits and their future.

Preston Montague, PF: Memphis, TN - 6'11", 218 has SIGNED WITH DUKE. Montague is a solid big man hoping to bring size to the Blue Devils who lack frontcourt depth. He's a smart big man with a soft shooting touch and proven rebounding skills. Durham is excited about him.

Victor Emmett, SF: Bronx, NY - 6'9", 222 has SIGNED WITH MARYLAND. Emmett was one of NY's Finest as a baller. He was New York's Mr.Basketball, and will bring athleticism to the ACC. His inside-out game is what has people excited about Emmett.

Salvator Rivers, SF: High Point, NC - 6'7", 216 has SIGNED WITH DUKE. Salvatore is a local product from the nation's furniture capital. Rivers is another player that will help out on the thinning Blue Devil frontcourt and is said to have great hustle.

Gary Barnett, PF: Phoenix, AZ - 6'9", 235 has SIGNED WITH OKLAHOMA STATE. Barnett is more of a physical forward that hopes to bruise the Big 12 with a potent post game on the block. Barnett almost chose to go to UCLA, but decided to be a Cowboy.

Vakeaton Grizzard, PG: Brooklyn, NY - 5'11', 168 will LIKELY SIGN WITH SYRACUSE. Grizzard that he didn't have enough time to weigh his options, and is still contemplating schools in the Northeast, including St. Josephs, Temple and Pittsburgh. Grizzard will be a valuable player at the next level with his incredible quickness and uncanny offensive awareness. Whoever signs this kid will have a noticeable increase in attendance while he attends.

Pitt drops another game in the Wachovia

                          Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Memphis Tigers
Neutral Site - Wachovia Center - Philadelphia, PA

For the Coaches vs. Cancer games this year, the site has been moved from the Madison Square Garden to the Wachovia Center in Philly, hosting the Panthers against the Tigers, and then Oklahoma State vs. Syracuse later in the evening.

To begin the game, Pitt displayed solid defense and made it difficult for the Tigers to run a fluent offense. It all started with the point guard play. Junior Carl Krauser put the cuffs on Memphis' freshman guard Darius Washington. However, Krauser was called for questionable fouls and had to finish the first half on the bench due to foul trouble. In the meanwhile, Memphis was able to break out and run the ball, and they shot the ball exceptionally well.

In the second half, Pitt did a good job of slowing the tempo, and came back within 3 points with 8 minutes to go. It looked like they had the game under control.

Pitt suffered from more foul trouble, and was the reason for their late-game collapse. They didn't have the right experience in the nucleus that was on the floor. Memphis ran away with this one at the end, winning the game 88-71.

                          Pittsburgh Stats
Carl Krauser 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assist, fouled out
Chris Taft 16 points, 8 rebounds
John DeGroat 12 points, 6 assist, 6 turnovers

                          Memphis Stats
Sean Banks 27 points, 8 rebounds (7 offensive), 4 assist
Rod Carney 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assist
                          Darius Washington(fr) 14 points, 6 assist, 4 TO's
