    Bethune-Cookman Wildcats vs. MD-Eastern Shore

Blowout Win Keeps Wildcats Undefeated In Conference Play

This game was over after about 4 minutes. The Wildcats came out on all cylinders and gave the Hawks a whooping like none other. Led by steals by Treg Newton, first year PG for the Wildcats, Bethune-Cookman jumped out to a 20 point lead at half time 30-10. The defense by the Wildcats was impecable and they showed their dominance over another conference opponent.

Ellis says no with a big time block.

The 2nd Half was on cruise control for the Wildcats. They were up by more than 10 for the rest of the game and cruised to an easy victory on the back of Freshman SF Taurean Ellis. They won 53-42.

Winning Streak Ends Against Non-Conference Team

The Wildcats came into the game thinking that they could prove that they at least belonged in converstions about Mid-Major teams in the tournament picture. They had a chance to prove that against the Vikings of Cleveland St. They game was a wild one in the first half it was all Vikings. Led by the hot shooting of PG Mike Redell. He led the team with 18 pts in the first half and gave the Vikings a 10 point lead at the break.

Ellis takes it in for the monster dunks.
The game however was far from over. The Wildcats showed the heart that they have and with 5 minutes left were down 8. They went on a run that would put them up by 2 with 13 seconds left. They knew who was going to get the ball for the Vikings however, he didn't shoot it. Redell passed the ball to his PF for the tie and we were headed to Overtime. In overtime, it was the same story as the first half. The Wildcats kept it close in the beginning but ran out of steam as the period drew to close with the Wildcats losing 79-70.

Bethune-Cookman Wildcats vs. South Carolina State

Wildcats Finally Fall In Conference Play

Normally the Wildcats are consistant. Normally, they come to play when they are faced with a conference opponent. There was nothing normal about his game. Normal would mean that Chris Braun would lead the team in scoring. However, he didn't step up and force Treg Newton to become the go to guy. The first half was a close one. Newton led the team with 15 points in the first half and at the break it was a 6 point lead.

Great Pass from Newton to O'Sullivan for the Jam
In the second half it was the Bulldogs that came out of the gate quickly. They quickly got right back in the game on the shoulders of Brian Mason's 10 points in the half. The game came down to whether or not the Wildcats could make a three point shot in the clutch and they could not losing a heart breaker 62-59.

          Pick Up Loose Ends

After a heart breaking loss to the Bulldogs, which was their first in conference loss, the Wildcats looked to recover and gain control of the conference lead once again. The Wildcats came out shooting. However, this time it look like the same game as the last. Newton took control of the game. He had 4 3 point plays in the first half. 3 of which were the old fashion kinda and led the Wildcats to a lead of 8 in the first half.

          Devoe with the 3.
The Wildcats this time were up for the challenge and were not going to fold in the face of pressure. Even though the Aggies had the best Overall record in the MEAC, the Wildcats held strong and even kept their lead and opened up it to a much larger extent. The Wildcats went on to win 56-42.

          Stats:

The play of the Wildcats has now gone back to normal. Chris Braun has gone back to normal and he went back to normal in a big way. The sophomore leading scorer laid down the lumber on many occasions in the game and was able to propel the Wildcats to a lead in the first half.

          6 Wildcats in Double Figures

If the game in which the Wildcats scored 91 points was the most productive of the years, this game was the years most effective. The point distribution for scoring was very equally spread out and no one could argue it. 6 Players found themselves in double figure scoring. Those were the only 6 Players that scored during the game and 6/8 that played in the game.

O'Sullivan with a strong put back and 1.
This led to quick work of the Hornets as they were disposed of in a 75-56 win. The Wildcats secured a 2 game advantage in conference play as well because of other loses around the conference.

          Bethune-Cookman Wildcats vs. Hampton

Streak Stays Alive Even After Ugly Shooting

The Wildcats came out as cold as the other side of the pillow. They were flat out terrible from the field. Everything was not dropping from 2 feet, 5 feet or even 20 feet. The good thing was that they were playing an even worse team that night. They held a 10 point lead at half time and were looking at their second consecutive win over Hampton.

Ellis from deep for 1 of his 3 straight 3's.
And thats what the second half proved to be in the end. Even though they shot 19/56 from the field, it was still better than the 14/50 that Hampton shot. The Pirates only manage to hit 2-11 from beyond the arc. The only player in double figures was Rashard West for the Pirate, who accounted for both 3 pointers and the Wildcats had 4 players in double figures, and that proved to be plenty of an advantage for the Wildcats as they beat Hampton 61-39.

          Bethune-Cookman Wildcats vs. Norfolk State

          Biggest Winning Margin Yet

When the Northfolk State Spartans stepped onto the court, the Wildcats had one goal in mind. Shut them down. This was their purpose. They had been giving up way to many points to opponents and this was the time to step it up. They could have looked ahead to the rematch against Michigan but they didn't. Chris Braun began the game by scoring the teams first 11 points. In the first half it was simply defense that won the game for them. By half time the score was obscene. They had held the Spartans to only 9 points and scored in the 30s themselves. Now it was simply a question of how much they were going to win by.

          GAME OVER?
The second half was merely a formality. The Wildcats relaxed a little bit on their defensive duties and allowed the Spartans to score a little more. However, BCC just extended and extended their 28 point lead at half and wound up winning by more than 40. The score was an obscene77-31. This proved that Bethune Cookman has now reached the top of the MEAC and will dominate for years to come if they continue to recruit and play the way that they do.

              Winless In Overtime Under Coach

The final game of the regular season pitted the Rattlers against the the Wildcats. With the conference already in hand, only Florida A&M was playing for positioning in the conference tournament. The Wildcats, however, were playing for pride and a possible better seed in the NCAA tournament with a conference tourny win. The game was a good one and they were tied at halftime.

Being tied seemed to be a theme with these two teams as they were also tied at the end of regulation. Going into OT the players of the Wildcats had on their minds that they were winless in overtime under their head coach. Well, that didn't change today either. Led by Jon Mason, the Rattlers found a way to win in overtime and beat the Wildcats 86-78.
However, the Wildcats still sealed their conference championship with a conference record of 15-3.

3 of Top Players Put on A Show

There were 3 of the top players in the MEAC conference on display in Florida on this night. Klevin Green, Lamarcus O'Sullivan, and Chris Braun all have the ability to dominate a game. However, it was simply 2 on 1. As much as Coppin St. tried to stay in the game, they just were unable to compete with the conference leading Wildcats.

The Wildcats shot 4-9 from the 3 Point Arc and had 2 players score in the twenties to lead them to a 63-48 win over Coppin St.

                Another Letdown

After the early season loss to the Bulldogs of South Carolina State, BCC was looking for payback entering the conference clash between the two of the top teams in the MEAC. However, early on the game did not go as planned for the Wildcats. The players were not hitting their shots and were getting out hussled by the Bulldogs. They were leading at the break.

In the second half, the Wildcats turned it around. They took the lead, however, they were unable to keep it and down the stretch the Bulldogs made their free throws and were able to secure their second win over the Wildcats of the season 60-57.

                Most Wins In The MEAC

Were the lights on in the arena in North Carolina or were they out, because that is what the Wildcats were doing. They were shooting the lights out from beyond the arc. They shot 7-21 from beyond the arc compared the NC A&T's 2-7. This was clearly the advantage in the game.

Also, the Wildcats outrebounded the Aggies 31-22. They also went to the free-throw line 9 more times and converted 9 more free-throws. This led to a very lopsided score and a 67-47 victory for the Wildcats. BCC now has the most overall wins in the MEAC with 18.

                Bethune-Cookman Wildcats vs. Florida A&M

                          NCAA Tournament: Syracuse Regional Preview

This regional has the likes of the number 1 team in the country Missouri, big east tournament champ Rutgers, Michigan St. Kentucky, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Maryland. It also has Duke as a number 5 seed. There could be some upsets in the second round games but I look for the first round games to go according to seed except for maybe the 8,9 matchup and the 6,11.

                              NCAA Tournament: Austin Regional Preview

This regional also has quality teams. Cincinnati, LSU, Florida St, Oklahoma St, UCLA, North Carolina, and Arkansas. Also, Texas as the number 11 seed in this regional. Look for many of the top teams to hold serve in the first round game with possible upsets happening to Arkansas, UCLA, and Florida St. But the first 2 more than anything.
